Oh, Bastian, My Lord

Bastian: The Lords of Satyr
Surprise! I was tricked again – drawn to incredibly sensual covers – into reading a historical romance. Thank goodness because I am so enjoying this series and I may have let the h-word ruin it for me. So, I guess I should thank Jenn for turning me on to Dane and Bastian. Because I am already going back and reading about Elizabeth Amber’s other men. There’s nothing better than hot men twined into a fascinating plot. Love it.

Elizabeth Amber is a master storyteller of erotic paranormal romance. There’s just no other way to say it and I would even say there are few who write this genre at this caliber. Bastian went beyond erotic in a sensuous rhythm of love and yearning. The story was fluid with an intriguing plot, believable though set in this romanticized world of Satyrs, Vestal Virgins and Ephemerals during the 1880s in Rome.

Though the book is named for Bastian, it was really a story of a friendship that transcended time. Michaela and Silvia were the very best of friends for centuries until Michaela became mortal for the man she loves. That man happens to be Bastian who doesn’t return her feelings of love, simply affection.

Bastian is the oldest Satyr - mythical men with indescribable sexual allure - brother. He and his brothers guard a magical vineyard where others cross into the Earthworld from their homeland of Elseworld. Bastian is an archeologist excavating the ruins of the vestal virgins where he believes there are mystical stones that keep their world secret. What he doesn’t know is that he’s become involved with two ephemerals that once lived in the temple of Vesta.

Silvia is one of the vestal virgins while Michaela became a vestal companion, trained in the art of pleasuring. When the temple is attacked, both girls set out as ephemerals, immortal beings who can take over the body of a dying person for short periods of time or lose their immortality. While Silvia maintains her immortality, Michaela gives it up to be with Bastian. Despite their different choices, the two friends are still close in heart and Silvia watches over her friend and finds herself attracted to Bastian as well, an incredible occurrence since she has maintained her vow of chastity for centuries. But Silvia knows she must focus on getting possession of the mystical stones Bastian is excavating. If Silvia can deliver the stones to her corrupt Uncle Pontifex, he has promised to free the remaining vestal virgins from imprisonment.

Since she knows the exact location of the vestal virgin ruins, Silvia takes on human hosts to help him so that she can then steal them from Bastian. But as she works alongside him, she finds herself falling in love with him. And Bastian finds himself attracted to each host Silvia takes, sensing there is something unusual. He feels affection for each of her hosts but is confused as to why he’s attracted to so many different people. As Silvia and Bastian interact in so many forms, they develop a real connection aside from the physical which is something missing in many erotic stories.

Silvia fights her growing attraction for Bastian out of respect for Michaela. Her character is stellar. But when Michaela is murdered, Silvia takes her body as host and honors her friend’s last wish to lay with Bastian once more at Moonful, a magical night of fornication no Satyr can resist. There was no chance of Silvia coming away with her heart intact. As she continues to take different hosts, Bastian and Silvia join together – some readers might find the variety in sexual partners offensive – as if their love was greater than what could be contained in their own bodies. The development of their relationship was perfect; the teasing and fun dialogue between Bastian and Silvia was endearing. Then when Bastian realizes he loves her, she becomes the only woman he has ever pursued – the unattainable man finally succumbs. The theme of love, between friends and lovers, can be felt through the words and interactions. While the plot moves the reader along quickly, it’s the love stories that will stay with the reader forever.

I was enthralled in this sensual world. This book is the epitome of an indulgent read. There’s nothing more to say than… 5 Heavenly Chocolate-dipped Strawberries. Delicious.

Hump day hottness - Bring on Bastian!

Hey there Hump day humpers! I have to say, picking eye candy this week was pain free - the covers of Elizabeth Amber's books ARE the very definition of eye candy! Seriously. Nothing like a hot book during a hot summer to make you....well, hot! Don't forget to make a comment to enter in a drawing for autographed copies of Ms. Amber's delish new releases!

Bastian is the sixth of Ms. Amber's Satyr series - the second brother in the Roman branch, set in the 1880's. The best thing she does is provide her readers with a tapestry of richly woven threads: plot, characters, setting, sex. I have been a huge fan of Ms. Amber's writing since her debut novel was published. She showcases some serious writing talent in the creation of a unique paranormal world with her Satyr descendants and their highly erotic exploits. There is enough of the ongoing drama of the ElseWorld and it's political intrigues and drawn out history that I highly recommend reading this series in order. Like many other romantic series involving siblings, it helps to see the development of characters as the world building yields to character development throughout. And, to be perfectly honest, the further into the series you get, the less shocking the Satyr "Moonful celebrations" are and one can enjoy them for the sensual, erotic scenes they are intended to be.

Dane provided readers with the introduction to the Roman faction - complete with another magical vineyard, mystical grotto and now an archaeological dig. Amber's tales depict the continued drive of the Satyr men to preserve the safety and sanctity of the ElseWorld. In Dane, she gives the reader glimpses of Bastian, the sexy eldest brother fixated on delving into the mysteries of the past.

Bastian does not disappoint. His passion for history is rivalled only by his passion for women. Fortunately having a brother who runs a brothel keeps our sexually charged men in constant companions. Speaking of companions, Bastian's story begins with his latest companion from Sevin's club, Michaela. Once a Vestal Virgin, trained to be a companion, Emphemeral Michaela gives up her immortality for the chance to become Bastian's lover in her own form. Her best friend Silvia, also a former Vestal Virgin and an Ephemeral, lives vicariously through the sexual exploits of her friend in order to maintain both her virginity and her immortality. Soon Silvia finds herself competing with her best friend for the man they both love and also with the man that she loves for the archaeological find they both need. Can love survive all these deceptions?

I loved that Bastian and Silvia have this undeniable attraction that transcends the physical plane. The magic between them so strong that Bastian, who is completely color blind, can see brilliant colors whenever she is around, in whatever form she is in - be it ghost, host or her own! The storyline was intricate but not so complicated that it required multiple readings just to process. The sensuality ripe on the page made for some seriously hot love scenes, especially as the Emphemeral Silvia must take on new hosts every month (now that makes for some very interesting lovin!!!!!). The realness of these two characters, faults and all, were so enjoyable: their sense of honor, family, nobility and, ultimately, faith in each other. Theirs is a hard fought happily ever after and well worth the time and effort! Be prepared, dear readers, have tissue box and fan in hand - this tale has high highs and low lows. I adore this sensual ElseWorld and it's evolution into the human plane and am very eagerly anticipating the next installment!

I give this book five chocolate dipped strawberries (plus two more on hold, for Sevin's story is next!!!!!) and urge you to take this guilty indulgence on your next getaway - be it the sands of Hawaii, the nearest beach or your local pool - it's got sizzling summer read all over it!

It's me on a Tuesday!

They have switched me in the blog line up! Don’t they know I can’t think of a snappy title to go with Tuesday? It feels like I just blogged. Oh wait! I did! No worries though. I had a great weekend. Awesomeness was everywhere this weekend. Finished the All Star Soccer season with a great set of girls. Onto travel in August. Spent Sunday with the girls and enjoying good food and True Blood. Although I was busy this weekend I did have time to get into this book…..

Dane, The Lords of Satyr by Elizabeth Amber
When Dane Satyr approaches Eva for her services as a matchmaker, she offers him more than just introductions. Dane has discovered that Eva is a Satyr like himself, full of insatiable passion and dark desires. Their attraction combusts instantaneously, unlocking pleasures that neither can resist repeating…even as Eva seeks out a mortal bride for Dane…

A Demand That Can’t Be Denied
Dane knows that the anonymous enemies of his past are now smiling in his face, but unmasking them is no easy task. A ring of sex slavers is at work amidst the high society he courts, and revealing his sensual powers could expose his greatest vulnerability. But having sampled the delights of a satyr mistress, Dane finds his own desires rising against him as well…
To be honest with you I spent the entire time thinking I read this book out of order. Turns out that I did not. I have to agree with Cat. I felt like I was missing a few details here and there. But nothing to keep me from reading the rest of the series. I am looking forward to reading the rest of these books. Dane’s brother’s stories should be good. I will also tell you that from the moment I read the name Odette, I felt immediately that she couldn’t be trusted. She kept to tight of a leash on Eva. But I did love how they had their own little family so to speak. And I’ll be honest, I had to re read the part in the beginning where she described Evas bed she received from her mother. Pretty sure you won’t find one of those in your local furniture store!

I give this story 3 chocolate dipped strawberries and one of those self refilling wine bottles!PEACE!

Dane

This was my first Elizabeth Amber novel as I had not read the earlier books in her Satyr series. It took me a while to figure out what type of world these characters lived in and I am still not sure I understand fully what the deal is with the Sickness that has overcome many dwellers of Else World forcing their migration to the realm where humans dwell and their intermingling with humans so that they can reproduce, but I definitely like her characters. Of the two main characters I believe the female heroine Evangaline Delacourte is the better developed. She is literally one of a kind and I found an immediate connection and believability to her story and experiences. I also loved how she adopted two orphan fey girls who are adorable. She is a strong, but vulnerable female protagonist. Dane her love interest is a troubled soul which is understandable considering his abduction at age 12. I tell you, I am always very hesitant about reading anything about child abuse or abduction. As a mother, it plays to your deepest nightmares and fears and you want to do anything to prevent the children (even if you rationally know they are only characters in a book) from being hurt emotionally or physically. It is very easy to turn me off completely by even having that a part of a story line, but Ms. Amber does a good job of allowing Dane’s and his brother Lucien’s abduction to play its role in the story without becoming so overwhelming and sad that I did not want to continue to read what happened next. The book left me wanting to know more about this world of hot Satyr brothers and Dane’s other brothers seem like they will make excellent main characters of the next books in the series. The book has very explicit sex scenes, but they do not overwhelm the story. I give this book 3.5 chocolate dipped strawberries.

Moonful Tidings: Elizabeth Amber's Satyrs!

Normally the royal "They" dont have me kick things off...I am the fun one they pull out at parties, events, etc, but this week I WIN! It is my greatest pleasure to introduce you all to a series well worth it's weight in gold (or paper, or epub, etc)....in fact, this is the series that prompted me to actually invest in my first ereader! (True story)

Tyra and I have spent many a "girl's night out" ending up at our local retail book store...and we all know by now my penchant for pretty eye candy. We stumbled upon Elizabeth Amber's Satyr series but the, ahem, graphic book covers held me back from actual purchase (I do have a 14 year old at home who has no qualms about harrassing me for my "embarrassing" books....) Have Sony e-reader, will buy books! First purchase was Nicholas, followed swiftly by Raine. Allow me to gift you with some true eye candy, and on book covers no less!!!!!

Now, this series has a little bit of something for everyone. You enjoy historicals? Bingo. You crave paranormal? You betcha. Like it hot and steamy erotica? Hoo boy! This series is inventive, well written and captivating. Amber's writing is lyrical, her stories as romantic as they are spicy - delivering readers a hard fought happily ever after every time!

For those of you who love a good contest - listen up. All week we will be posting blog reviews of Amber's latest Satyr releases - every reader who responds will be entered for our giveaway drawing - autographed editions of Dane and Bastien! (believe me - you will want these books in your collections!)

Live it up - enjoy a guilty indulgence. Eat, Sleep, Read!

Mate of the Wolf

Mate of the Wolf (Siren Publishing Classic)
Mate of the Wolf by Mandy Rosko is a nice short story. The relationship that develops between Shelly and Michael will keep the reader interested. Though the idea of falling for your captor is the premise of the story, the author never really shows the reader the true pull between these mated characters which makes it seem a bit creepy to me.

The story’s heroine, Shelley, is a movie star who needed some time away from her busy life. While she was camping by herself in the woods, she’s kidnapped by Michael. She soon finds out that Michael is actually a werewolf. He keeps her chained in his cabin but she doesn’t seem afraid of him. When he doesn’t behave the way a typical kidnapper might, she wonders what exactly it is he wants. The next couple days of her life are strange but ultimately take her to something she’s always yearned for.

Michael knows immediately that Shelley is his mate, though this isn’t directly shared with the reader. After months of self-imposed exile while on the run from a vampire princess who desires his rare silver pelt, he wants nothing more than to claim his mate. But he’s also his pack’s alpha with a primary duty to protect his pack. While he can’t deny the part of him that wants to claim her, his life is too dangerous for her. Michael is obviously conflicted but with so little of the story from his pov, the reader sees him mostly through Shelley’s eyes.

Everything seemed to fall very neatly into place for Michael and Shelley – almost too easy – allowing for little suspense or angst which makes a story more compelling. While the author gives us perspective into Shelley’s character, Michael doesn’t get the attention he deserves and leaves a gap in the story. By the end, the reader understands his motives but still knows little about his character. The author does leave the ending open for a possible sequel – maybe this is where the suspense with the drama surrounding Michael may play out.

First Fang Friday

Looking forward to this weekend. Heading out for a soccer tournament. After this we get a break for a while. So says the coach but we will see. Hoping to bring home first place again. Girls were AWESOME last weekend. As for Sunday evening….it’s girl time with my favorite ladies. The new season of True Blood starts and I can’t wait. This show can be seen on HBO only and is not kid friendly which is why this is a mommy only night. Which brings me to my blog this week. I’m going to share s little information about the book series this show is based on.

From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris
After the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina, and the manmade horror of the explosion at the vampire summit, Sookie Stackhouse is safe but dazed, yearning for things to get back to normal. But her boyfriend Quinn is among the missing. And things are changing, whether the weres and vamps in her corner of Louisiana like it or not. In the ensuing battles, Sookie faces danger, death…and once more, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood ceases flowing, her world will be forever altered.

Let me start by saying when I say the show is based on the books I mean loosely based. There are so many differences I can’t even begin to go into them all. But all and all I enjoy the books as well as the True Blood series. I also like the book covers. They have glitter on them (sorry had to throw that in there). I also have this book signed by Charlaine Harris herself. Thanks Sid! There are so many great character in this series. All of them have their own thing going but their story lines are balanced perfectly. I’ll admit Sookie the main character is not my favorite. Which proves that Charlaine Harris has built a great story as a whole. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series and am looking forward to reading the latest one that is out. If you’re a watcher of True Blood try reading the books. The contrast between the two is fun to compare and discuss with the girls or it may want to make you pull your hair out!
I give this series 3 chocolate dipped strawberries and a big ol’ bag of crazy courtesy of Jason Stackhouse.
PEACE!

Not Just Another Shifter Romance!

Moonlight Rapture
Moonlight Rapture grabbed my attention from the start and I needed only to hold on tight for the ride. This book was an action-packed nail biter that had so much going on, the reader could never get bored. Though tossed right into the middle of a scene that took me a bit to figure out, I was immediately immersed in Julie’s world and had to find out more and more and more. I was so engrossed in the action, I simply couldn’t put the book down.
Julie is a werewolf who has inherited a deadly disease that triggers only a partial shift. These attacks cause her great pain and will ultimately be the cause of her death. Victor, a vampire, has long been with her family to aid in Julie’s attacks because his saliva acts as a numbing agent for Julie and it is only because of his rapture that she survives each attack. Over the years, Julie and Victor have fallen in love. Victor is wise, gentle and loves Julie deeply – there really is nothing not to like about him. But Julie must mate with a werewolf to carry on her family line.
Julie’s family lives in a town whose inhabitants are predominantly preternatural beings. When her father dies suddenly, Julie becomes the Matron of her town. And now the neighboring wolf pack tries to force Julie, a rare adult female, into mating one of them. With much deception and so many wanting to control Julie’s life, she needs both Victor and her new love, Brad, to save her. Brad accepts that he must share her with Victor but this is only the first step to creating a peaceful existence.
Moonlight Rapture is a fantastic book that brings together several factions of the preternatural world: vampires, werewolves and demons all in one, and creates a world where they co-exist peacefully. The author was quite creative putting all three creatures into one world. With all the varying powers, the reader is never really sure who holds the most power.
This book has a unique story line, strong characterization and suspense-filled moments. Read it – you won’t regret it – it’s not just another shifter romance.

Hump Day Helloooooo!

I have spent a good chunk of this start to the summer reading YA new releases (guilty indulgent gal that I am!).... Maybe sometime soon, I'll break down and clue you in - let you share in the wealth! However, I recently took a break from YA to go back to some serious paranormal roots.....Since it's above 90, hot and steamy out, a good old southern summer brewing - let me give you some perfect beach reads. And just to keep it real - I gift you with some delish eye candy!!!!

Sara Brookes' new Rebirth Series has some serious chops, capturing readers in a well crafted world where vampires, humans and the Fae collide. FLASH OF DARK teases the reader with her take on the Otherworlders who live among us, sometimes scary, sometimes sexy, always more than anyone bargains for.

Ana Sullivan was sent to the human realm hundreds of years ago to watch over the High King of the Fae, Quinn O'Brien, who decides to live among the mortals. Running a popular bar and supported by her vampire best friend, Lucas, Ana performs her duties with little fanfare, determined not to get too involved with humans. A series of high profile murders threatens her sanctuary as does a chance meeting with Stark Grantham. Ana fights her desire and her supernatural powers as she and Stark race the clock to find a killer.

Gone are the days where heroes were muscle bound and saved the day. Stark Grantham, while a tastily depicted male specimen, captures the Fae Guardian with his brains and his determination. Captivated by the tabloid sensation that is Stark, Ana is no wilting flower. She fights and battles like the greatest warriors. More often than not, she saves the day – until her emotions get the better of her and force her to make decisions that have huge ramifications both personally and professionally. Stark and Ana's relationship is dark and sexy and takes the reader on a wild ride.

Ms Brookes' story weaves a web with a few holes but it's obviously setting the stage for additional storylines. With a cliffhanger ending, readers will be bound to struggle – only to realize it is because they want to read more. Ms Brookes' follow up installment, Blood Fever, is eagerly anticipated!

I give this a tasty 5 chocolate dipped strawberries....sitting by the pool, staying cool, reading a hot story!

Ooops He Did It Again!

Hello all, I realize I am a couple of days late this week,(shhh don't tell I am going to back post this) I have no excuse other than life got in the way and I was busy drinking wine to celebrate the summer solstice. Just when I thought it was safe to put away the bleacher chairs my son, Lane, made the all-star team for baseball so I am spending my weekends at various ball fields around Virginia. The good thing about this is that we have a great group of kids and a great group of parents that I actually like to hang out with.(This hasn't always been the case)So we have at least another month of baseball. I am a little bleary eyed this afternoon because I was up rather late last night and then had to work all day and I can lay all of the blame at one persons feet.....William Neale. He went and did it again! If you have read any of my previous blogs about Mr. Neale you know I came into this book as a fan of his writing skills. He has the ability to pull me into a story and make the character's come alive. His newest release is Son of a Ditch and it is the second in the Home series and I truly hope it's not the last.

Son of a Ditch, William Neale, MLR Press, June 2011
Colby Dawson returns to his southern hometown after serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. Emotionally scarred by a broken relationship, the last thing he wants is another man in his life. But he doesn't count on falling in love with childhood best friend, Kyle McCoy, now a local deputy sheriff. Their relationship seems almost too charmed until a corrupt governor attempts to locate a state prison next door to Colby's family home. His prominent father and brothers organize an illegal protest effort that will force Colby to choose between loyalty to his family -- or to the partner and lover who may have to arrest them. Not only is Colby and Kyle's relationship in jeopardy, one of them will fight for his very life while the other must confront his guilt.

After serving his country in the Air Force,Colby has returned home to go to college and recover from a bad break-up.When his father refused to send him to college wanting instead to send him to a trade school Colby decided he was just going to do it on his own,and that is what he is back to do. His first stop is home to have some of his mama's home cooking, unfortunately she starts in on him about going back to work for the family construction company and rather than argue with her he leaves to find a place of his own.

When he runs into Kyle, a childhood friend, at the local diner it is a fortuitous meeting for both. Kyle just recently moved out of his dad's place and is looking for a roommate and Colby needs a place to stay. The two are excited about renewing their friendship but Colby feels it necessary to let Kyle know that he is gay. What Colby doesn't know is that Kyle is gay too and has a few secrets of his own. As the two get to know one another again and rebuild their friendship they can't deny the attraction they feel.

When the two finally come together and try to build their friendship into something more outside forces may separate them permanently.

This book is a winner for me for a couple of different reasons. The first is the love story because lets face it that's why we read romance. The realtionship that develops between Kyle and Colby was incredible to read. When one of them would make a sappy comment and the other would make fun of them for it, it felt very real. Writing emotional, loving character's is what Mr. Neale does best. The second is the family relationships that were brought into this story line. Ruth has to be one of my favorite moms....she may not be the head of the family but she is the neck and we all know that the neck controls the head. The need that Kyle feels to connect to Colby's mom in the absence of his mom made my heart hurt.It was nice to get glimpses of not only Luc and Rogan's life but the flashbacks we get of how Tag and Clay met were fun to read. If you are looking for a fantastic romance that will sweep you away and doesn't apologize for doing just that, then this is a book that you will want to add to your library. I give Son of a Ditch 5 chocolate dipped strawberries.

A Little Lawful Disorder

Lipstick and Handguns [Lawful Disorder 1] (Siren Publishing Classic ManLove)I’ll admit up front that I am drawn to this author’s voice and have enjoyed every book she’s written. But wow, has she outdone herself with this one! With mystery and a darker storyline than usual, Gabrielle Evans has hit her stride with Lipstick And Handguns, the first book in her Lawful Disorder series and I cannot wait to read the next.

In the three years since his lover left without explanation, the only people brooding Detective Ryder keeps close are his grandmother and his partner on the force. After months tracking a case where men are disappearing and then being found dead, victim Sidney Kessler is found alive. When he wakes up in the hospital frightened and confused, Sidney finds safety in Ryder. But Ryder is completely unprepared for the feelings Sidney stirs in him. Though reluctant to start a relationship with the vulnerable man, Ryder knows he's falling fast. But he still has a case to solve and a criminal to catch; and he can't let his feelings stand in the way of his job.
Both characters were well-developed, each given their own time to evolve as unique characters. The slow evolution of their relationship worked especially given the trauma Sidney underwent and Ryder’s reluctance to get involved. Seriously, how often do you read a book where the lead characters spend more than a few days with each other before any sort of romance takes place? It was a refreshing change and allowed readers to know them as individuals first.

Secondary characters were good additions. The simple fact that he lived with his grandmother, who readily accepted him, spoke volumes about his character. Evans interjects small details that set a stage for the stories she tells; and in this book, she creates a realistic and suspenseful story. This is a definite read.
RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

This is my favorite Evan's book so far... what's yours?

Running Wilde

Running Wilde [The Brothers of Wilde, Nevada 3] (Siren Publishing LoveXtreme Forever)

Running Wilde, the third book in Chloe Lang's The Brothers of Wilde, Nevada series, continues to weave together Jessie’s developing relationship with the Wilde brothers with the mystery of the mining accidents. The   suspense is still slowly building (though I wish there was more). And like the earlier books in the series, this is a quick read with a fluid flow.
In this book, Jessie spends time with Dallas, a man used to having any woman of his choosing. Only now his attention is completely on Jessie, vowing to do whatever necessary to possess her for himself and his brothers.  Dallas is a BDSM master who sets out to introduce Jessie to his sexual lifestyle, fearful that though he believes she’s the one for them, she may not be able to handle the sexual desires of him and his brothers. While I understood the goal of the author with this storyline, the BDSM component seemed weak and awkward when compared to authors specific to that genre.  But the message is still clear - Dallas & Jessie’s relationship is much more intense than the others were.
Jessie still continues to feel overwhelmed by becoming involved with the brothers. Jessie has strong feelings for the brothers, but she gets the feeling she’s missing something important.  And when the secret is revealed by an outsider, she’s hurt and pulls away from them.  It’s up to Dallas to earn back her trust at the same time that another threat is made on her life and the tension is at its highest point yet.
Lang uses secondary characters to enhance the primary characters when Jessie’s ex-fiancé (who is gay) comes to visit.  Really only having a fake engagement to get Jessica's dad off her case, Michael turns out to be a good friend and helps her work through her confusion with the brothers. The addition of this secondary character helps establish a depth to Jessie that readers might not see otherwise; just as introducing the brothers’ grandfather adds history and much-needed depth to the brothers.
Lang has hit her stride in this book as they keep getting better.  I am more sold than ever on the series and am waiting impatiently for the next release. ** Note that readers must read this in order because of the nature of the series. **

Fighting Zombies Friday

Have I ever told you people how awesome my life is? No, well let me tell you! Yes, I have one full time job and a part time job. That makes planning ahead completely impossible. I have two wonderful children that keep me on the go everyday. I breathe and sleep soccer. In fact we will be heading to Fairfax this weekend for a tournament. I'm attempting to look after my mom who broke her ankle over Memorial day weekend. When I say broke I mean like 8 screws and a plate broke. I'm not sure how much help I am because I make fun of her most of the time! In addition to this I try to spend all the time I can with my grandfather. I've had to take over the mowing duties for him which is really hard for him because he loves to mow. I on the other hand don't mind mowing but this whole "there's a pattern to it" philosophy isn't working for me. The grass is cut what more do you want from me? With all that being said let's jump into my book for the week. The Chronicles Of Nick which ties into the Dark Hunter series reminds me of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I say this because they are like one big family and relationship that Nick and his mom Cherise have is one of great love. Like I've said before there's nothing a mother wouldn't so for her son and nothing a son wouldn't so for his mother.

Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Just when he thought things couldn’t get any worse...

Nick Gautier’s day just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake up and find himself enslaved to a world of shape shifters and demons out to claim his soul.

His new principal thinks he’s even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can’t even mention and the girl he’s not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.

But more than that, he’s being groomed by the darkest of powers and if he doesn’t learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them...

Well as you can see I did it. I couldn't wait to borrow the book from someone. I had to go get it NOW. I mean, I was practically forced to buy it. I had a gift card and everything and it kept calling my name (dresses, shoes and purses have also known my name at times too. How do they do that?). Anyways... I put off blogging till Friday night about this book. Did I mention I got the book Friday afternoon? I was determined to blog about it this week. So here we go. This book digs deeper into Nick's childhood and his introduction into the Dark Hunter world. Again everyone and everything is out to get him. He faces all this and high school too. For Nick I'm not sure which one is worse for him. Another dilemma Nick faces is who can he trust. Everyone "says" they want to teach him and help him but he really doesn't know who he can trust. Being dropped into this world of shifters, weres and zombies would give anyone metal health issues! The more of this series I read the more I see in bits and pieces of where this all played a part in the regular Dark Hunter series. Certain things Ash said in other books ect.. I'll admit I had no idea that Nick would develop into such an important character.

I give this book 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and a gift card for Nick so he can buy some new shirts!

Precisely At Dusk

Precisely At Dusk (A "Dirty Bits" Short Story)
Precisely At Dusk by AE Donnelly is a juicy hot niblet of delicious. In just 15 pages, readers are drawn into what is sure to be an intensely erotic relationship between this Dom and his new submissive. It has all the elements necessary to make it a credible D/s story. The depth of the writing conveys a sense of angst that made me squirm; descriptions of the submissive making those final decisions to submit… biting her bottom lip, her chest rising and falling, turning down her eyes, wetting her lips... were intense. The rich illustrative writing places the reader into the story. It has such a strong pull – and is so short a story – that readers need to sit down and read this in one sitting.
Precisely at Dusk is written in first person. Normally I'm not a fan of this style narrative but it was the perfect choice for this story. Written from the Dom’s perspective, the reader will nearly feel as if they are the sub to this masterful, calm and deliberate Dom. And with some of his simple one line commands, readers’ toes will curl. It is superbly done so I say “Read this” but beware, it may leave you screaming "more, more, more."
RATING: 5 Double-Dipped Luscious Chocolate Strawberries.

Hump Day - The Calm before the Storm

Howdy hump day posse! Can I just say I am not ready for the next couple weeks - two back to back three day weekends sounds like heaven but they are really just a bit too much family togetherness for this blogger gal! A big event for dad, a wedding for baby bro, and I am pretty sure there isnt enough alcohol....or something like that. Mostly I am freaked because it means a loooong time away from my gal pals - too much alone time means lots of books read but I get a little loopy without my peeps! I know what will help - an eye candy fix! Try this....Mmmmmmm.

In honor of the Virginia State Bar Annual Meeting this weekend in Virginia Beach, I thought I'd bring you a little legal thriller for summer!

Cops and lawyers generally mix like oil and vinegar. Not so in the new romantic suspense ALL'S FAIR IN LOVE AND LAW. This new romantic suspense stops just short of a battle of the sexes when Chicagoland heats up, pitting hot shot defense attorney C.J. Demarco against newly appointed police captain Patrick Sullivan. Authors K.M. Daughters tease the reader with building sexual tension during the sometimes frustrating courtship of two people previously spurned in trust and love.

Pat Sullivan's interest is piqued by the violet-eyed beauty singing on stage while taking his twin nieces to a local amusement park. The following day, she turns out to be the courtroom shark ripping his detective apart on the stand. Unable to let it go, they wage battle over beers and darts while the sexy tension builds until it threatens to consume them both.

Pat and Charlie both know their fair share of loss and pain. On the heels of losing his brother and brother-in-law, Pat struggles to keep the police force afloat and his large and loving family supported as they deserve. Charlie, having recently transplanted to Chicago from the East Coast after a disastrous relationship, fears love again and clings to her two constants: her twin and her work. Her work often clashes with his and, as the manhunt for a killer escalates, could imperil those they love.

With characters that have depth and substance and a well-crafted storyline, authors K. M. Daughters create an enjoyable suspense tale with enough romance for the reader to stop, pause and sigh contentedly. Book four in the Sullivan Boys series, ALL'S FAIR IN LOVE AND LAW finds the proverbial scales stacked in favor of both romance and justice.

I given this legal thriller a cool four chocolate dipped strawberries and a gavel: this case is adjourned - go read and enjoy!

AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!

Is it possible for a blogger to have writers block? Well if it is then I think I have it. As those of you who know me personally can attest I am NEVER at a loss for words. I can probably tell a story about just about anything. I have two books that I have read recently that I LOVED but I just can't seem to put my thoughts into words. Maybe my brain decided to go on Summer vacation along with my kids. Or maybe it's because all of my brain cells have been pre-occupied trying to find things for my kids to do this summer so I don't get the "I'm bored" phone call 50 million times in a day. Or maybe it's because I have seen the previews for the new True Blood season and Eric is not running down the road naked with amnesia and I am just sad. Whatever it is someone needs to slap me out of this funk. But until they do I am going to insert a blog that was posted on the Romance Review site by me and hope to be better next week.

Necessary Roughness, G.G. Royale, Loose Id
Denise has wanted her own professional football team since she was six years old. Now, she's finally got it, but it comes with one problem: recovering alcoholic and notorious lecher Levi "So Fly" Ballom. As a record-setting tight end, his numbers on the field are fantastic, but it's what's going on off the field that has Denise worried. She can't seem to get the Nordic god out of her mind, and her desire could put the future of her brand new franchise at risk.

Levi promised his agent no women for the first year of his recovery, and he was really trying to keep that promise until in swayed his new team's manager, Denise. All he can think about is tying her up and taking her hard, and he can't keep his mind on the game. He only sees one way out of this predicament -- do what his fantasies tell him -- but the promise he made to his agent stands in the way.

What do a troubled football star and the GM of his new team have in common? They both like a little necessary roughness.

When Levi Ballom came to play for the development team, The Biloxi Bloodhounds, it was just a stepping stone back into the pros. Levi had been released from his last team due to scandals involving drugs, alcohol and women. Now fresh from rehab and 6 months sober, he is looking for a way back and isn't going to let anything get in his way.

Denise Claremont Hynes is trying to step out of her father's shadow. After allowing her father to buy a new franchise for her, she wants him to leave her alone to run her team. Being the hard working take charge motivated person that she is, Denise has no doubt that she will make it happen. She isn't sure she wants to take a chance on a troublemaker like Levi but knows he can help make her team successful if his manager is telling her the truth about his sobriety.

One thing neither of them counted on was their instant attraction to one another. Even more surprising to Denise is her need to submit to Levi.

This story, while being well written, didn't click for me. I had a hard time believing the connection between the two protagonists. While understanding the need for Denise, who is so in control of every aspect of her life, to be able to give up control in this one area, I didn't feel the emotional connection needed for a Dom/sub relationship. I honestly think my biggest problem buying into their relationship was the lack of kissing. For me, the kiss is where the emotion and trust begin.

Levi's character comes across as someone who has realized the mistakes he made and truly wants to do things right this time. Denise could have very easily come across as spoiled, but thankfully the author wrote her with a work ethic that kept that from happening.

Despite my misgivings regarding the overall relationship of these two characters, the story held potential. From a fan of BDSM, please note that sometimes "necessary roughness" needs to be tempered with necessary softness.
I give this book 3 chocolate dipped strawberries.

The Alpha's Fall

The Alpha's Fall [Great Wolves of Passion, Alaska 2] (Siren Publishing LoveXtreme Forever - Serialized)The Great Wolves of Passion, Alaska series is an addictive erotic shifter series. This second installment uses the same vivid and detailed writing to add more substance to this evolving plot. The Alpha’s Fall affirms the relationship between Noah, Alpha of the pack, and Eve. The characters continue to grab the reader’s attention and affections.

** It is necessary to read this series in order because they play right into each other. You cannot understand the storyline without reading them in order. **

The heroine, Eve, is a veterinarian who has been given permission to study the wolves on an Alaskan preserve controlled by the Dillon family. Eve has been oddly attracted to Noah Dillon and his six brothers and cousins since she arrived. Noah, Alpha of his pack, has known from their first meeting that Eve is his true mate but just when Noah makes his move to claim her, wolves on their land are killed and then the absolute worst happens when one of his own brothers is attacked. Since Noah believes himself ultimately responsible as the Alpha for his pack, he is wrecked by the attack.

As Noah comes to terms with the attack and begins looking into the cause, his self-blame causes him to pull away from Eve. So realistically natural a reaction, Noah’s character is real to the reader. At first Eve is distracted as her medical training allows her to care for the injured Ethan. But then as Noah continues to disconnect, Eve is hurt by Noah pulling away from her until she pushes him to deal with his feelings, and to deal with her.

Eve comes into her own in this book – a concern I had from the first book resolved - as the spunk I expected in an educated woman like Eve kicked in. Though a bit shy when meeting the Dillon elders, Eve’s true personality shines when she asserts herself and does not allow the men to continue sheltering her. Eve is exactly what Noah needs and it is a beautiful thing to see.

This story, like the first in the series, ends again in the midst of drama. I wanted so badly to be able to turn the page and find out what happens next. So be warned that you will need to pick up the next book right away after reading this. I’m waiting anxiously to read more about Eve and each of her mates.

RATING: 5 Chocolate-dipped Strawberries.

Identity Crisis

Identity Crisis
Mmm... mmm... this story is erotically delicious and romantic.

In Identity Crisis, Lila Munro brought both heat and heart wrapped up neatly in an erotically-charged short story. With complex characters that readers will find likeable, the story is fast-moving and packed with emotion. The strong details and descriptive characterizations draw readers in emotionally as two strong characters discover the compromise necessary in love.

Chad Dearborn was raised having everything he could possibly want and more, country clubs were his daycares and Paris and London his playgrounds. Sole heir to Dearborn Industry, Chad will inherit a fortune but the problem is his parents also want him to find the perfect wife to go with it. And his idea of the perfect wife is very different from theirs. Rather than a trophy wife, he wants a woman that can hold her own, in and out of the bedroom.

Tori Myers was from an entirely different world. With an absent father, a less than attentive mother and nowhere to go, Tori found herself drawn into an alternative lifestyle. Vertigo, Portland’s hottest BDSM club, is her playground where available doms are willing to give her what she needs. But the night she sees Chad sitting at the bar changes Tori’s life forever. Chad was fascinated by what went on at Vertigo but mostly he was intrigued by Tori. He was determined to have her, yet something wouldn’t let him cross that line into the BDSM world. And Tori realizes sometimes your heart wants what isn’t necessarily what your body is willing to compromise to have.

In a series of flashbacks from the points of view of both the hero and heroine as they approach an important milestone, a complex story is simplified into a beautifully written love story culminating in the ultimate woman’s fantasy. Though the “identity crisis” was the hero’s, Munro expertly created a situation in which he was still depicted as a strong hero and endeared him to this reader. Chad’s conflict, along with the powerful romantic essence, wove tightly together to provide a beautiful story. It was perfect. RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

Fell right back in Friday

I’m off today! I’m off today! WOO HOO! Spending the day with my kids. Today is their last day of school. Next year my daughter will move to the middle school and my son will be a 1st grader. Where did time go? Went to DC with her on her class trip and had a great time. Checked out a couple of monuments, visited the Smithsonian and had lunch at the Hard Rock Café. Took the kids by the Dept of Justice and the FBI building. I figure, get to know my kids now before they take over the world. LOL.
As you can tell I’m holding true to my word and hammering my newly revised to be read list. I have also held out on buying that second Chronicles of Nick book but I’m not sure how much longer I’m gonna last!

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.
But nothing comes without a price.
Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. Not to mention that he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other one.

When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.
It has been a good while since I finished the last book in this series and picked up this one (the newest). I was so proud of myself! I remembered what was going on and where the last story ended and where this one picked up. Yeah me! I also have a confession to make. I listened to the first three on audio book. GASP! I know, I know I feel shameful. I just can’t get into audio books(except Harry Potter). I wish I could. I mean I have a commute it would be good for my to be read list but I just don’t feel it. But I did enjoy listening to these.

First off this book had a super good balance of story threads. It has the right amount of Jace and Clary drama, the right amount of Simon and the right amount of let’s save the world stuff. I’ll admit I was having some Accidental Demon Slayer flash backs between Lizzi and Dimitri. Jace was doing the whole I love you more than life but I can’t be with you for your own safety. Then Clary is doing the ,what does he see in me drama llama. It was like Lizzie and Dimitri all over again (have I ever told you my love of Dimitri? I mean Greece!) I really enjoyed Simon getting to come to the front of the story. He’s had major roles in all the books but he really shines in this one. I mean how often do you have your life taken from you and turned into a vampire that can be in the sun and on top of that you’re walking around with the Mark of Cain on your forehead? He has a lot of issues to deal with. Like having two girlfriends, controlling his “hunger” and telling his mom he’s a vampire. The sad part for Simon is that although he’s surrounded by his friends he’s still alone. He’s a vampire hanging with the Shadowhunters…..

I give this book 4 chocolate dipped strawberries and a cool electrum whip like Isabelle has. I’ve been asking for a flame thrower for years now and Jenn and Tyra both told me NO. Can you believe that? But Tina pointed out that I could torch my dress or God forbid my shoes so now I’m all about the electrum whip. Thank Tina!
PEACE!

Anna's Diary Is All That

Remember when you were a little girl and you kept a diary of all those silly things you did, those crazy feelings rushing through you, and oh those cute boys.  Well, Anna’s diary is all that and so much more.

The Diary of Anna’s Submission by Jenika Snow is written from the heroine Anna’s perspective in the form of her diary. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect but had high expectation because I so much enjoyed the author’s previous works. Well, disappointed I was not. Reading this book is truly like reading someone’s diary – there were times when I cringed and felt like I was reading thoughts intended to be kept private. The realism was masterful.
Anna is a secret submissive with desires she considers taboo, leaving her feeling ashamed.  Though she’s sexually inexperienced, Anna is consumed with the idea of allowing a man to possess her in the most primal of ways. She knows she wants to be at the mercy of a dominating man, one who can show her what it really means to submit but is torn by her belief that such acts are immoral. Then she’s propositioned by Master Felix, a Dom at the local BDSM club she once visited.  With this chance to explore her desires presented to her, Anna decides to engage in Master Felix’s training to learn the art of being a true submissive.

Readers follow along as Anna undergoes her training.  The passages are well detailed, baring her inner-most feelings and thoughts about becoming a submissive.  It is beautiful as her soul is set free and her true submissive nature is allowed to blossom.  I naturally felt empathy for Anna as I connected through the vivid imagery and analysis as she remembered events and scribed them into her diary.  I only wished at times there was more detail as some scenes that could’ve further built on the story seemed cut short or glossed over.

The Diary of Anna’s Submission is a quick read that you will not want to put down once you start.  With the unique format and tight storyline, this book is well written and highly recommended by this reviewer with a FIVE CHOCOLATE-DIPPED STRAWBERRIES rating. The best part is there’s no guilt about reading this diary.

Hump Day - June Know It's Been Crazy!

Howdy there friends and readers! Life continues to have me chasing my tail this summer!!! What a shocker for those who know me...NOT! I have more irons in the fire than I know what to do with - house projects, kid projects, reading projects....and waiting, oh so not patiently for my beloved but truly screwed up True Blood to restart (but the Glades has been keeping me occupied until then - I really only watch one show a season so I have a new conflict.) Have a little summer delight - makes you wanna go swim....eye candy - Yum!

A new summer treat to try: B.L. Bonita's Edge of Woods: check it out!

B.L. Bonita stalks and captures readers in this well crafted, all too abbreviated romantic thriller. THE EDGE OF THE WOODS combines elements of murder, mystery and mayhem and kicks it up a notch with a spicy, sexy romantic twist.

Sent on assignment to investigate the Cold Lake murders, special assignment journalist Carmen James and her cameraman never expected to become victims themselves. The killer attacks them late one night, forcing Carmen to run for her life. Found the next day hiding in his woodshed, John Malloy comes to her aide, healing her and falling for her. John struggles to discover the killer's identity in time before their new romance winds up another of his prey.

The Cold Lake Butcher may be wreaking havoc in the remote Alberta wilderness but that seems to have little impact upon John Malloy or special assignment journalist Carmen James. Where there is smoke, there's usually fire and the blaze that burns between these two characters makes this novella worth the read.

A highly enjoyable read, THE EDGE OF THE WOODS takes the reader on a true journey through the remote Canadian parklands. With a clever storyline, solid characters and well written dialogue, B.L. Bonita could have expanded this into a full length romantic suspense that would have left the reader sighing and waiting for the next installment.

I give Edge of the Woods a tasty four chocolate dipped strawberries - a dip in the Cold Lake with our eye candy hottie!!!!

This was my first book by author L.A. Witt, and WITH THE BAND rocked it out! Aaron and Bastion burn up the pages with incredibly sensual love scenes. The secondary cast of characters give more depth to the overall storyline. The story is told from Aaron's point of view, but I always felt like I knew what Bastion was feeling as well.

With the demise of his last band due to internal drama, Aaron has returned home to audition for lead singer of his siblings' band, Schadenfreude. He better than anyone knows the danger of dating with-in the band, but one look at Bastion and Aaron is having trouble remember why it's a bad thing.

Bastion has finally made the break from his psycho girlfriend and now he just wants to play music. With the addition of Aaron as lead singer for the band, he knows they will be going places. Bastion has a secret that not even his brother and band mates know, that he is bi-sexual and is completely hot for Aaron. He just has to keep his hands off the sexy younger man.

When the two come together, it is electric and one of the sexiest kisses I have ever read. But keeping their relationship a secret isn't easy when they can't keep their hands off of each other.

Just when things seem to be going well for the band, Denise, Bastion's ex, drops a bomb on the band when she calls the couple out in front of everyone. Now that they have been outed, Bastion isn't sure he can handle the pressure of trying to keep both the band and his relationship with Aaron together.

The relationship the author builds between Aaron and Bastion was incredible to read. At times very sweet and other times scorching. The sentence, "Just one more kiss", becomes a recurring theme for the pair and their clandestine meetings backstage.

As much as I enjoyed reading the scenes between them, some of my favorite parts are when the band is together and giving each other a hard time and teasing back and forth. The dialogue between the siblings was hilarious and very real. And while the ending seemed rushed, the writing and story line flowed well and kept me entertained.

So, if you believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days, then WITH THE BAND is the book for you. I give With the Band 5 chocolate dipped strawberries.

Beyond Friends Didn't Go Beyond

Beyond Friends
Beyond Friends just didn't go beyond....

Beyond Friends by Xondra Day is a quick read with a lot of story missing. While I enjoyed the two characters and their story, I couldn’t help but think that I didn’t know enough about them. The characters lacked the depth necessary to establish a connection with the reader.
The premise is a nice one. Long-time friends and one-time lovers, Jack and Rain, come to a crossroads in their relationship. Each man has feelings beyond friendship for the other but neither is willing to admit it. So when a traumatic event occurs in Rain's life, he relies on Jack for help and the men begin a new chapter in their relationship. The question is whether they will ever be able to move beyond friends.

It’s a very short read and maybe herein lies the problem because there was hardly time for the author to develop the characters more.

Miranda's Rights

MIRANDA'S RIGHTS is a BDSM short story done right. You are given enough back story to pique your interest and then it's right into the heart of the story. I connected to these characters quickly and fell right into subspace along with Miranda.

Miranda has a secret and a very nosy next door neighbor who also happens to be a police detective. When Jase notices bruising on Miranda's arms and neck, he suspects that she is in an abusive relationship and is going to save her whether she wants him to or not. When he follows her one night and realizes that she is going to a BDSM club, he knows he has found the submissive for him, but Miranda isn't convinced Jase can be the Dom she needs.

If you aren't ready to go completely into the BDSM world but are looking for quick trip, MIRANDA'S RIGHTS, is the perfect book for you. It may be a quick read but it hits on all the right levels to give you a small but realistic taste.

I give Miranda's Rights 5 chocolate dipped strawberries.

Colter's Daughter

Colter's Daughter, Maya Banks, Samhain Publishing
He let her go once. This time he’s playing for keeps.
Colters’ Legacy, Book 3
Callie Colter once chased sunsets all over the world. Until Max. Together they were a perfect storm of desire, and she reveled in the beautiful power. Then he disappeared without a word, and the betrayal drove her home to lick her wounds.
Who knew he’d have the gall to show his face in her brother’s bar.
Max Wilder figures he deserves Callie’s right hook to the jaw, but it changes nothing. He had his reasons for pursuing her across Europe, for making her fall in love with him. But when she took everything he gave and offered more, she changed all the rules. He had no choice leaving her, but he’s back. This time for the right reasons.
Callie is angry and hurt, yet powerless against Max’s relentless onslaught. He’ll settle for nothing less than her complete surrender—and her love. Only when she’s back in his arms will he be truly happy. And the damning truth can stay safely tucked away.
Except the truth has a way of creeping to the surface, and Max may just be out of second chances.

My review for you!!!
The last in the Colters’ series is out and it is a most read. Callie’s depression pulled at our hearts in Colters’ Lady. The story really starts then when she returns from Europe and refuses to share her problems with her family. Every reader knew it had to be man trouble but you had to wondered if it was going to be one man or three? You have to love this series. It turns out to be ONE DOMINANT man.
Max Wilder is ever submissive woman’s dream man. There are women out there who won’t want to read this because they believe that women should never be portrayed as submissive. Read it anyway because Callie’s character proves that you can be a strong woman and still be submissive to your man. Maya Banks doesn’t let us down with the way she handles this topic. I laughed at Callie’s resistance, I loved the protective nature of the Colter family, and I cried (hard) as the book comes to its climax.
I really don’t want to spoil this book for you by giving too much away. The overview does enough of that. This book is one my top five that I have read this year. She handles the D/s lifestyle with class and isn’t skimpy on the STEAMY sex scenes. It isn’t just a “who is sleeping with who” book. This is an emotionally gripping story with two outstanding characters struggling to find a way back to each other when trust has been broken. I give this story 5 chocolate dipped strawberries. Go get it and read it now, you won’t regret it!

Fighting Zombies Friday

Hope everyone had a fab Memorial Day weekend. I did! Spent it with my favorite people. Hard to believe it’s June already. August will be here before we know it and it will be time to head to Philly for Authors After Dark. So looking forward to it. I got myself organized yesterday and ordered my costumes. Got an awesome deal! I’ll take lots of pictures but the girlies usually threaten me with bodily harm if I post them. But maybe I can sneak a few out there for you guys to see when we get back. If I go missing from the blog for any length of time that means I got busted and they made good on their promises. Speaking of promises…. As I promised myself I was only reading those 4 things on my to be read list I have completed one of them. Book one of The Chronicles of Nick. Check it out…….

Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon

At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends. . .until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.
Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead.
But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh eating zombies. And he’s next on the menu.

As if starting high school isn’t hard enough…now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?

Let me start out by saying I was a happy girl to be back in my Dark Hunter world. I also saw on the web site that there are 10 books planned in this series (insert super happy dance)! I blew thru this book once I started because I was so excited about it. I’m probably going to go buy the next one in hard back because I can’t wait for paper back (I know I know! If I had a Nook or something I wouldn’t have that problem.). There was no disappointment to be found. I wanted to cry in the beginning when Nick had to face his school mates. High school is tough but even tougher when the whole school knows your mom is a stripper. What a mother won’t do to take care of her child. Cheers to you Cherise Gautier. This book jumps right into Nick’s life and his past. Infinity sheds a whole new light on Nick and how he has power that no one knows. Not even the mighty Acheron knows (Again let Apollymi out! Stuff will grow back. I’m just saying.). But Acheron knows that Nick will have an impact on his life because he can’t see his future. Which bothers him. A LOT! It also explains the whole Malachai and his father’s poor choices and why everyone is out to control him.
If you haven’t read this series what are you waiting for! I promise you will love it. I’m going to attempt to hold out on buying book two but it’s not looking good! I see me going to the store next week
I give this book 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and some BBQ sauce (for Simi).
PEACE!
