Take Me Out to the Ball Field with Roz Lee #REVIEW @IWriteRomance

Take me out to the ball field. I'll gladly go, anytime, as long as I have Roz Lee's Mustangs
Baseball series. I'm excited to be able to review the book with the catcher as leading man because that was one of my son's positions and there's no one on that field who needs to be smarter than the catcher. And brains are hot... well, not as hot as Jason's body! I mean, check out the cover - seriously hot.

Going Deep, the second book in the series, doubles the deliciousness and adds in some intrigue.

Keeping Carrie blindfolded and in the dark as to his identity suits Major League catcher Jason Holder just fine while he figures out if being a Dom really is his thing. With the media circling like vultures as he works to get his career back on track, the last thing he needs is a sex scandal if things don’t work out.

Just when he’s got it all under control a new kind of scandal from an unexpected source threatens everything, and Jason soon finds out that what you don’t know can hurt you.

REVIEW
Going Deep has a natural dilemma that serves as the premise for the book's conflict. It all seems so logical that readers buy right into the story. Jason (Jeff's twin brother from book one), a MLB baseball player, meets Carrie, a sports reporter. Just by virtue of their jobs, they would seem all wrong for one another but when she's blindfolded and all they know is what they feel, they couldn't be more right for each other.

The BDSM is hot and though awkward at times, it feels realistic. The dialogue between the couple is authentic and sweeps readers up into the moment. I hated the mystery of the blindfolded - felt too much like lying in a lifestyle where lies can't be tolerated - but I just went with it and found those moments with the blindfold to be some of the yummiest!

These books keep getting hotter. If I knew baseball could be so much fun, I might not have complained my way through eleven years of my sons' games. Well, at least you can grab a copy of Roz Lee's books and take them to the ball field with you for some delicious reading between innings. Enjoy!

Humpday Hello to Roz Lee!! #Bases Loaded

Antonio Ramirez is ready to leave his wild reputation behind in New York and adopt a more respectable life with the Texas Mustangs. When he spies the woman of his dreams at a Fundraiser—its love at first sight. Convincing Clare Kincaid that he’s sincere is harder than he expected. Giving Clare what she wants could wreck his career and compromise his feelings for her.

When super sexy Antonio Ramirez approaches her, Clare is sure he’s playing a cruel game, but the Mustangs new Center Fielder won’t take no for an answer. She might be convinced of his sincerity if only he would invite her to play the one game she longs to play.

Roz Lee delivers a home run with her latest Mustangs Baseball series installment, Bases Loaded. You have to appreciate an author who can give her readers just enough of the right elements - whether you like a little kink with your romance or a little romance with your kink - this series will capture your interest and keep it long past book 1!

Antonio Ramirez relocates to Texas to revamp his very kinky bad-boy image. Clare Kincaid captivates him right off the bat. He is everything she ever dreamed of. She is nothing like he's ever known. What's a curvy girl to do when a baseball Adonis wants to work his wicked ways with her? Play ball, of course!

Perhaps the reason Ms. Lee is so successful at creating erotic romances lies in her ability to create real, multi-dimensional characters that speak to the reader. Antonio exudes sex appeal, enough to have you reaching for your fan while you read. But he is also empathetic - he wants to make Clare realize her physical appeal, so much so that he is willing to suppress that dark side of him that enjoyed his roll in the Bases Loaded club and ultimate allow her to indulge his passion with him. Clare shows both fragility in her fears and strength in her resolve. While not every woman imagines reclaiming her sense of self confidence by indulging in a single night of wild hot monkey sex with four gorgeous athletes capped off with a trophy piercing - you have to give it to her, she wants what she wants. This pair are unlikely but their connection is magical.
Full of well written dialogue and plenty of seriously sexy scenes, Bases Loaded kept me up past bed time and turning page after page. I'm no fan of baseball but I'll definitely read any sports story if it's penned like Roz Lee's!

RATING: Four Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries and a big ole glass of ice water to cool down after this one!

Inside Heat by Roz Lee

Two hot baseball players and even hotter sex...that's a home run every time!

Inside Heat, Roz Lee
Mustang Baseball #1
Jeff "The Terminator" Holder is the closer for the Texas Mustangs' baseball team, and revered throughout the Major League for throwing inside heat. His twin brother, Jason, the Mustang's catcher, leads the League in hits. They share a love of the game, as well as their identical DNA - but that's not all they share.

Pediatric Nurse Megan Long doesn't know baseball, but she does know a sexy guy when she sees one - or two. When she seeks out an autograph for one of her patients, she falls under the spell of two of the sexiest players in baseball. Unable to resist their charms, Megan finds herself in bed with both men, but falling in love with only one.

Locked in an epic battle against the steroid pumping Martin McCree, Jeff's obsession with striking out McCree strains his relationship with his brother, and leads to an injury that threatens his career and dents his ego. Megan does her best to get through to him, but if Jeff can't see past his failings to find the love she's offering, he's going to strike out in the
biggest game of his life.

REVIEW:
What would you do if two hot men wanted to make you theirs? That's the question that Megan has to answer, and let's face it, it's not your average question. But then again there is nothing average about the Holder boys!

I liked the fact that Megan took a bit of time to really think things over. She didn't jump into the deep end, she kind of waded in, which made everything more real. I have read a lot of books with this premise but not many that dealt with having stronger feelings for one partner and dealing with the jealousy and the fall out if three become two.

Let's talk about the sex BABY! Whew, let me just say that this story is NSFW! Sometimes when you are dealing with multiple partners it can get confusing and I get sidetracked about where so and so's arm was and how did it get there, but the author does a great job of keeping it simple and hot as hell! Considering that sex is the foundation for the relationship I thought there was a nice balance of sexy time and everyday time.

There is not a lot of secondary interaction with other character's other than the game which is such an integral part of the story that it became a character. You can tell that Ms. Lee has spent a lot of time around baseball and took the time to get the dynamics, especially between a pitcher and catcher correct. As someone who has spent her fair share of time around the game I appreciated that.

This book has something for everyone, a great story, hot sex, baseball, and in the end a true love story!

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

Made Monday Better

Monday greeting! It's super crazy for me today but here I am. This book is a great lunch time escape:) You may want to read alone.....

The stress of opening her own specialty bakery has kept Brooke tied up in knots, just not the kind she would prefer. When she spies the hunk of a Dom across the crowded bar, she’s intrigued, but his wristband indicates he’s off limits. That doesn’t stop her from doing the most daring thing she’s ever done to snag a man’s attention, but when things escalate beyond even her wildest imaginings, she can’t get out of there fast enough.
His contract with the Mustangs is set to expire at the end of the season, and third baseman, Todd Stevens is holding out for a longer, more lucrative deal as a free agent. Convinced more money and a new city will cure what ails him, he isn’t looking for a long-term relationship, much less a one-time hookup with a sub who doesn’t know her place. Unfortunately, the little minx eyeing him from across the room might just be the one to make him change his mind
.

I read this in one sitting and loved it! I've never been a big baseball fan but i think I might have an interest now:)

I give this book 4 chocolate dipped strawberries. What color of wristband will you wear?

PEACE

Still More Saturday's with Sid!

Until It's Time to Go, Connie Bailey, Dreamspinner Press
When a tragedy derailed his life, screenwriter Isaac Zevin became a recluse. Between the cheesy straight-to-video action scripts and his drinking problem, he’s surprised to get a call from Tony Kendall, the award-winning director he was slated to work with just before he fell off the map. After some persuading, Isaac agrees to help Tony realize his modernized vision of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

On set, Isaac is horrified to find the lead role filled by heartthrob superstar Colby Lightner, an actor Isaac believes embodies everything that’s wrong with Hollywood. Colby, on the other hand, couldn't be happier to work with Isaac and resolves to make Isaac like him. As Isaac deals with his unwelcome attraction to Colby and the stress of writing a script during production, Laith, his troubled godson, shows up at his door looking for help. Isaac knows if he turns his back on the boy, he’ll never forgive himself. But how can he juggle his craft, his crush, and his godson’s problems when he can’t even take care of his cat?

This book was interesting in how that main character deals with loss. There’s no attempt to gloss over or hide what grief can do to someone. Isaac becomes a drunk and a really not nice person because of it. And then lightning strikes.. Boom.. Colby is in the room and that’s all she wrote! Ya’ll pick it up and give it a chance. There’s some heavy emotion in it but also some rockin’ hot sex. You go Connie Bailey! 4 Strawberries dipped in chocolate!

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.  This book was given to us by Dreamspinner. Many thanks.

More Saturday's with Sid!

When Past Comes to Present, R.G. Green, Dreamspinner Press
Three years ago, private detective Tyler Beckett gained unwanted fame when he found evidence that sent murderer Miles Trubett to prison. Now, three years later, Tyler enjoys a successful business and a happy home life, even if he can't quite make himself ask his lover, Sean St. Claire, to move in permanently. But when a pushy journalist comes to him with the case of a gay man’s apparent suicide, Tyler finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. The ultimatum: investigate or risk losing the support of the gay community. His reluctant acceptance of the case is only the beginning of the difficulties he will face, however, as he soon discovers Trubett is on the loose and intent on revenge—and Tyler is not his only target.

Soon, unforeseen circumstances bring Tyler’s ex, Scott, back into his life. The disruption Scott causes in his relationship with Sean leaves Tyler struggling with more than the risk of retribution. As the physical and emotional threats mount, Tyler must figure out how to protect Sean without losing him—to Trubett or the emotional upheaval that occurs when past comes to present.

Ya’ll there is some serious CRAY CRAY up in this book… houses blown up, loony-tunes sneaking in apartments and all manner of other insanity. There’s also some hot sex and a good amount of mystery! I really enjoyed the connection between Tyler and Sean. I also enjoyed connection with the nutjob ex and how all of that plays out. This book is very well written and has some cliff hangers! Pick it up and let me know what you think! 4.5 ooey gooey strawberries in chocolate for RG Green!

RATING: 4.5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries This book was given to us by Dreamspinner. Many thanks.

Poacher's Fall, J.L. Merrow, Dreamspinner Press
Midwinter Manor #1
One snowy night just before Christmas, 1922, poacher Danny Costessey rounds off a night trapping rabbits by climbing a tree to fetch some mistletoe for his mother—only to fall and break his leg. Taken to the manor house to recover from his injuries, Danny meets the reclusive owner, Philip Luccombe. Village gossip has it Luccombe went mad during the war, but Danny soon realizes he’s simply still mourning his late lover. As friendship grows between them, Danny starts to fall for handsome, shy Philip.

Danny’s lively nature, roguish good looks, and ready laughter enchant Philip, and he finds himself being drawn out of his shell whether he will it or not. But when Danny tries to move beyond friendship, Philip panics—and his rejection threatens not only their happiness, but Danny’s health.

This is a revised and expanded version of the story previously published under the title of Pleasures with Rough Strife. Everyone who has purchased a stand-alone copy of Pleasures with Rough Strife from the Dreamspinner website (ie not as part of the Mistletoe Madness set) will be able to download Poacher's Fall free!

Keeper's Pledge, J.L. Merroe, Dreamspinner Press
Midwinter Manor # 2
Landowner Philip Luccombe has been enjoying a passionate relationship with young poacher turned gamekeeper Danny Costessey for four years now. Danny’s love has brought him out of the shell he retreated into when his first lover died after the Great War. But this Christmas, visitors to the manor threaten their happiness. Philip’s young cousin Matthew is artistic, vivacious, and flirtatious: just the sort to remind him of his long-dead first love—and to emphasise the social gulf between Philip and Danny.

But the worst danger comes from much nearer home. An old flame of Danny’s is discovered in incriminating circumstances, forcing the lovers to keep their distance for fear of being tarred with the same brush. Meanwhile, Danny’s younger brother, Toby, has grown to resent the connection between his brother and the lord of the manor. Danny wants to do the right thing—but that could divide the lovers forever.

I really enjoyed both of these books. They are quick and easy reads, but still manage to pack a punch of emotion! I have a bit of a Brit fetish, so I could easily see myself falling out of tree and being rescued and nursed back to health in a lovely manor house…. Oh my Philip, where are you?? But…Sid ain’t livin’ in the gamekeepers house! But seriously folks, check these two books out and see what JL Merrow has also been up to! Well done! 4 Chocolate dipped strawberries for JL Merrow!

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.  This book was given to us by Dreamspinner. Many thanks.

Funniest Book Ever Friday

Been a crazy week here at work! The students have returned and I'm in full swing of school activities with my own kids and trying to finish up last minute home improvements around my house before fall (I slacked all summer). If you're having a crazy week too you gotta pick this book up it's FABULOUS!

Bear Meets Girl by Shelly Laurenston

He's big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He's also about to get trapped by own his game. . .
Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that's turning Crush's lone-bear world upside down--and bringing his passion out of hibernation. . .
As a member of an elite feline protection unit, Marcella Malone has no problem body-dropping anyone who hunts her kind. But Crush is proving one major pain in her gorgeous tail. The only reason she's joined forces with him is to track down the wealthy human who's got her entire species in his ruthless sights. It sure isn't because Crush's stubborn and contrary attitude is rubbing Cella in all the right ways. .

I loved this book! This is one of the funniest books I've ever read. Cella was killing me! I never tire of Cella and Dee Ann's fighting and smart ass comments but no matter what they always have each other's back when there's a job to be done. Then there's the whole Malone family, throw in hockey and your baby's daddy's wedding that is not to you and you have a whole lotta laughs! If you haven't read this series this must be bumped to the top of your summer to be read list.

I give this book 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and a forever home for Lola. Oh wait she has one. LOL
                                                          PEACE

Escaping Reality #REVIEW

Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen #1) by Lisa Renee Jones has Infinite possibilities… Infinite passion… Infinite danger… and was oh-so delicious.

His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.

At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.

On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?

REVIEW
This book starts off immediately in the midst of action and tension. It's definitely not your average New Adult read. Instead, it has more of an edginess to it. It's compelling, gripping and nail biting. And at the same time, it's sexy, sensual and romantic. There was never a moment when I knew exactly what the truth was. I spent the entire time reading and hopelessly attempting to solve the mystery. It was absolutely so tightly written that I couldn't figure it out. How great is that... especially since I've read hundreds and hundreds of romance books!

I cannot wait for the next installment to find out what happens for this couple. They're solid characters, each so inherently good (Shoot, or maybe not. Well, I have a little doubt after that final scene.) that I'm cheering them on towards their HEA. This book was magnificent!

Do not miss reading this book. Go, now, and BUY IT!

Humpday Hello to Nightshifted

Greetings and salutations my Humpday Nation!  School has started, the weather is lovely and now is the time to get down to some serious reading/reviewing!  Of course work often gets in the way of a truly indulgent read nearly every day for me so, unless I take a serious career path deviation, I am going to have to get creative to keep up with my lofty TBR list endeavors!

On a serious note (no, not a soapbox but still a "listen up y'all" kind of thing) - it has come to our attention that many of our author friends are being harassed and lambasted in Goodreads land.  Many of you read blogs like ours for book reviews, TBR tips or just plain amusement and many authors request we cross post reviews for books we really liked to help promote to future readers and that's cool with us.  But there are folks out there who are literally targeting authors to destroy their reputations and careers for self amusement - posting negative critiques and reviews on books that they haven't even read. And worst of all, they can do it viciously, frequently and anonymously.  This toxic behavior takes away from the whole purpose and intent of Goodreads which is a forum for readers and authors to connect and share thoughts on thousands of books in dozens of genres. (I personally use it to help keep my books sorted by author and check upcoming release dates of smaller press published authors that aren't on Fantastic Fiction).  Please join us in taking a stand against bullying, of all kinds, but today especially of our creative and highly entertaining friends without whom my guilty indulgence would be for naught!

And now for the good stuff......and some eye candy to reward you for your time and consideration!

Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine—from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond…

Edie’s just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she’s haunted by the man’s dying words—Save Anna—and before she knows it, she’s on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead. Which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul. Grey’s Anatomy was never like this…

I love it when an author takes me by surprise.  Ms. Alexander had me at hello - or at least the book cover which sports a pale and tired but sexy nurse with attitude pose and a dragon in the background.  The blurb had me pressing "Buy Now" before I gave it a second thought.  Thank goodness I did - what a delicious paranormal delight.  Nightshifted had me reading well into the night shift, certainly past my bed time!

Edie Spence plays a great anti-heroine.  She's burnt out, broke, supporting her disaster of a brother and her patient load had me in stitches.  Cleverly written and darkly humorous, with enough bits of nursing jargon to let this reader know the author knew what she was writing about and it shows in intense moments and very gritty, real characters in the staff on Y4.  That the patients are all supernatural creatures just took a medical drama and kicked it into wacky and bizarre.  But it works, actually very well.

Caveat to those who like paranormal romance but vacillate with urban fantasy - this story is more action and mystery than romance.  There are some spectacular moments when characters connect and Edie has a brief fling that makes the reader hope there will be something more.  Edie's obsession with Anna, saving this small vampire girl and finding some justice for her, makes her a much more endearing lead character.  Watching her scrap and struggle to survive, work Y4, solve Anna's mystery allows the author to display some impressive talent in creating this new world and connecting characters and story lines makes for some highly enjoyable reading!

RATING: I give this new series start a tasty Four Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

Hidden Dragons by Emma Holly

Return to  Resurrection, Emma Holly's world of sensual delights.

Hidden Dragons, Emma Holly
Hidden #4
Do you believe in dragons? Werewolf cop Rick Lupone would say no . . . until a dying faerie tells him the fate of his city depends on him. If he can’t protect a mysterious woman in peril, everything may be lost. The only discovery more shocking is that the woman he’s meant to save is his high school crush, Cass Maycee.

Half fae Cass didn’t earn her Snow White nickname by chance. All her life, her refusal to abuse fae glamour kept men like Rick at arm’s length. Now something new is waking up inside her, a secret heritage her pureblood father kept her in the dark about. Letting it out might kill her, but keeping it hidden is no longer an option. The dragons’ ancient enemies are moving. If they find the prize before Rick and Cass, the supe-friendly city of Resurrection just might go up in flames.

Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

Review
Emma Holly pens another magical addition to her fabulous Hidden series. This world has everything from Fae to werewolves to wereseals to humans. From royalty to blue collar workers. It's filled with humor and drop your panties sex. For me Holly blends the perfect balance of magical and sexual to keep me coming back for more every time!

We are back with the wolves of the RPD, and this time we get more of the sexy Beta Rick Lupone. Rick encounters a full Fae, who right before she dies, tells him he is the protector and gives him this nifty little set of magical brass knuckles (I totally had a Witchblade flashback every time it is mentioned.) Rick isn't sure who the Fae thought he was supposed to protect...but he knows who he hopes it is.

Half-blood Cass has just come back to Resurrection after living on the Outside with her full human mother for the last 20 years. The last person she expected to see on her door step, talking about dragons no less, is her secret high school crush Rick.

The RPD gang is all back in this fourth installment and that includes Grant the gargoyle! While I love the main story, for me the thing that really brings this series to life are the secondary characters and the funny everyday things that happen. Everyone shops at Maycee's and gets their morning caffeine fix from the Star Brew's on the corner.

If you are looking for something lighthearted and full of super smexy sex, then pick up Hidden Dragons...but after you read the other books in the Hidden series of course!

Favorite line: Loving people wasn't just complicated; it was sticky.

Indulgent #REVIEW of Safe In His Arms @ReneeRoseAuthor

Safe in His Arms by Renee Rose has the right combination of suspense and spanking to be an indulgent read.

BLURB
For as long as she could remember, Becca dreamed of a dominant man to take her in hand, and Zac, the handsome Marine she met at her sister's wedding, filled the role with aplomb… for a weekend. Then the fling came to an end, Zac went off to war and died for his country, and Becca learned she carried a child who would be born without a father.

Seven years later, Becca has done her best to move on and forget about Zac… until the day she walks into her kitchen to find the man she believed she would never see again locked in mortal combat with her son’s nanny, and realizes everything she thought she knew about Zac was a lie.

Like all Black Ops agents, Zac doesn't exist in any government record. His life is a series of deadly missions, and relationships of any kind are unsanctioned. But he keeps one secret. He watches over Becca, the beautiful daughter of a rogue agent, and Parker, the six-year-old boy he fathered that fateful weekend. When he spots a known assassin in their apartment posing as a nanny, he's forced to reveal himself and take them to safety… whether Becca likes it or not.

While Becca may have enjoyed his dominance once, bending her to his will again may not be quite so easy. He is determined to keep her safe, however, and if a long, hard spanking is required, he is more than willing to oblige. Having Becca over his knee rekindles more than his passion, though; even when the immediate danger has passed, he finds it much more difficult to “ghost out” on his family again. Must he resign himself to protecting those he loves from afar, or can he find a way to be the man Becca needs and longs for, the man who is worthy of her submission and her love?

REVIEW
Romantic Suspense meets Spanking Romance. It was like peanut butter and chocolate, an absolutely indulgently delicious combination. The suspense was just that, suspenseful, with the right amount of twists to keep readers on the edge of their seats until that final scene. But all the way through the book, there's this amazing love story between two people who took an alternative route to their HEA. It was unique and beautiful as the book explored the dynamics of domestic discipline. The author smoothly used the conversations to explain dd to those unfamiliar with the lifestyle but eased it in enough so as not to feel like a user's manual. The balance in all elements was simply perfect and as hard to resist as a peanut butter cup. Yummy!

Publisher’s Note: Safe in His Arms is an erotic romance novel that includes both consensual and non-consensual spankings, anal play, graphic sexual scenes, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

I just had to post this "Publisher's Note" because its hysterical to a reader who would buy a book simply BECAUSE it has some of these features. I read that note and think hell yeah! ;-)

#REVIEW:Complete Me by @JulieKenner

Complete Me (Stark Trilogy #3) by J. Kenner completes beginning of a powerful love story.

My REVIEW Of Claimed, book 2, is HERE.

This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire
who’s never had to take “no” for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says “yes” on her own terms.

Our desire runs deep. But our secrets cut close. Beautiful, strong, and commanding, Damien Stark fills a void in me that no other man can touch. His fierce cravings push me beyond the brink of bliss—and unleash a wild passion that utterly consumes us both.

Yet beneath his need for dominance, he carries the wounds of a painful past. Haunted by a legacy of dark secrets and broken trust, he seeks release in our shared ecstasy, the  heat between us burning stronger each day.

Our attraction is undeniable, our obsession inevitable. Yet not even Damien can run from his ghosts, or shield us from the dangers yet to come.

REVIEW
Complete Me takes right off where the last book ended - thank goodness! From the very beginning, we're in the midst of a complicated battle. Yet the fact that this millionaire chose to confront his demons lent credibility to his character and secured him as one of my favorite book boyfriends. Nikki is a lucky, lucky girl. She's also smart, brave and so very strong as she takes her place at her man's side during his crisis.

The suspense in this book was over the edge. There must've been a lot of research done on the court system because it read so realistically. And, of course as alw
ays, the sex explodes with passion and love. There's nothing dull about this book!

Kenner brings all the strands of Damien and Nikki's love story full circle, ties them up neatly and satisfies readers. Now, if Damien would just take a trip my way so he can tie me up! ;)

Sorry kiddos... Complete Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

Fun in Peru Friday

Sadness....it's my last Friday of summer work hours. After today I will be forced to work 8 am to 5 pm instead of 7:30 am till noon. SIGH:( This also means my summer is coming to an end and cold weather is coming. CURSES! Oh well I'm going to squeeze every stinking ounce of summer out of these last couple of weeks if it kills me. This book will help......

What Really Happened in Peru by Cassandra Clare

There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instruments (which he plays shockingly), dances (which he does shockingly), and disgraces his host nation by doing something unspeakable to the Nazca Lines.

Those of you that love the Mortal Instruments series know who Magnus Bane is. I was excited to learn that these little tid bits of Magnus's life were going to be released monthly. What I wasn't prepared for was that I was going to be laughing out loud and have people staring at me. In true Magnus fashion he is leaps and bounds above the average dresser and has drug his fellow warlocks into what he calls "travels that would be ceaseless rounds of debauchery". Sounds like my kinda trip.....

1791... Run in with monkeys in the rain forest and an incident with a ship full of bat guano.

1885... Wanted for desecrating a temple.

1890... Magus tries his hand at playing the charango. This involved a llama stampede which may or may not have had anything to do with his playing skills. It was so bad that they had a festival to celebrate that he finally gave it up. This chapter may be the funniest thing I have ever read in my life. Magnus gets drunk, busts out his dancing skills, steals a carpet and gets healed by guinea pigs. FREEDOM! FOLLOW ME I AM YOUR NEW LEADER!

1962... Lastly he turns to a life of crime.

I give this story 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and a round of whatever Magnus was drinking in 1890.
PEACE

#REVIEW: THIS GIRL @ColleenHoover

The last installment of the Slammed series by Colleen Hoover, THIS GIRL, is a beautiful ending to a beautiful young love story.

My REVIEW of book one (Slammed) is posted HERE.
My REVIEW of book two (Point of Retreat) is posted HERE.

There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

This time, Will gives his impressions of everything that happened since he met Lake. It was beautiful though it didn't hold my attention as much as the first two books since it felt a bit like a re-telling but there were revelations that I would've missed had I not read This Girl. And this book made me fall even more in love with Will.

Read the whole series - it's not one you can skip around - and immerse yourself in these characters lives. They'll come to feel like family to you. The conclusion of the series takes place in a hospital and will bring a tear to your eye, one final tear for a series that had me sobbing at times.

This book contains slamming. Slamming - for those of you who don't know - is a competition where poets read or recite their original work. It was started back in the mid-1980s in Chicago and became popular, especially among young artists, as a way to express themselves.

In this book, we hear one last Slam from Will. Sigh.

“I held this girl in my arms
She wrapped her tiny fingers around mine.
It was then that I realized.
She was the fusion.
The glue.
The cement that bound all my pieces together.
The piece that seals my puzzle.
The piece that completes my life.
The element that makes me who I am.
Who I was.
Who I'll one day be.
You, baby girl.
You're my final piece.”

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

#REVIEW: Point Of Retreat by @ColleenHoover

I got slammed AGAIN by Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover. This series is addictive. REVIEW of book one (Slammed) is posted HERE.

Hardships and heartache brought them together…now it will tear them apart. Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will’s past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge…how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’

There are so many fun things in the midst of the emotional times that readers get the feeling that anything is possible for these two characters. You see, the term 'carving pumpkins' comes from the time they decorated their Halloween pumpkins instead of talking about the serious stuff. It was good in the moment except now Lake uses it as a coping mechanism and that won't work if they're going to make it together.

The secondary characters that surround them anchor Will and Lake as their love story continued to hold me to every page. I especially adored their inherent willingness to put family first, even expanding that beyond the traditional family unit. When tragedy struck, the strength of their commitment beyond the trivial could never be questioned again.

One more book to go!

This books contains slamming. Slamming - for those of you who don't know - is a competition where poets read or recite their original work. It was started back in the mid-1980s in Chicago and became popular, especially among young artists, as a way to express themselves.

In this book, the most stunning Slam comes from their new middle school neighbor.

“Butterfly.
What a beautiful word
What a delicate creature.
Delicate like the cruel words that flow right out of your mouths and the food that flies right out of your hands…
Does it make you feel better?
Does it make you feel good ?
Does picking on a girl make you more of a man?
Well, I’m standing up for myself
Like I should have done before
I’m not putting up with your Butterfly anymore."

“I have one thing to say to you
And I’m not referring to the bullies
Or the ones they pursue.
I’m referring to those of you that just stand by
The ones who don’t take up for those of us that cry
Those of you who just…turn a blind eye.
After all it’s not you it’s happening to
You aren’t the one being bullied
And you aren’t the one being rude
It isn’t your hand that’s throwing the food
But…it is your mouth not speaking up
It is your feet not taking a stand
It is your arm not lending a hand
It is your heart
Not giving a damn.
So take up for yourself
Take up for your friends
I challenge you to be someone
Who doesn’t give in.
Don’t give in.
Don’t let them win.”

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

#REVIEW: SLAMMED by @ColleenHoover

I got slammed by Slammed (Slammed #1) by Colleen Hoover. There's just no other way to put it. It gutted me and made me laugh and gave me hope, all at the same time.

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

These characters, every single one of them and not just the two "primary" characters, were complex and real. There was so much about each of them that enhanced the full effect of this story, each played an integral role. The story of Lake and Will simply blew me away. For such young adults, they had already lived through the unthinkable and were now being slammed again. Their strength was amazing but it was seeing them work through their predicament and rely on the strength of others when their personal weaknesses broke through that made it an incredibly special story of survival.

The actual slamming - for those of you who don't know - is a competition where poets read or recite their original work. It was started back in the mid-1980s in Chicago and became popular, especially among young artists, as a way to express themselves.

When Will slams for Lake, he won my heart. It was no wonder that it worked so well on her too!

“And life definitely doesn't want me
To just let it tell me
that the girl I met,
The beautiful, amazing, strong, resilient girl
That I fell so hard for
Should only come in third
Life knows.
Life is trying to tell me
That the girl I love
The girl I fell
So hard for?
There's room for her in first.
I'm putting her first.”

But when Lake slammed for Will, I held my breath... it was like a releasing of her soul, of everything she'd held inside her. It was beautiful. Here's a snippet I found on goodreads...

“I got schooled this year
by
a
boy.
A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
And he taught me the most important thing of all...
To put the emphasis
On life .”

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

I DARE YOU TO Read This Book. It's Great! #REVIEW

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2) by Katie McGarry begins with a dare and ends in love. The readers will too.

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all...

REVIEW
DARE YOU TO is so beautifully written with strands of conflict and emotion to keep readers interested.
These characters were typical high school students complete with the authentic emotions that swirl through teenagers. It all starts on a dare - it's fun and real and silly, really. Then things get complicated.

Ryan is strong, tenacious and resourceful. Beth is brave and resilient. Ryan and Beth experience a slowly developing relationship that grows as the characters learn about themselves. It's just so beautifully natural. Young love should be that way.

It's a powerful coming of age story with a positive message, including the focus on family and friendships. I adored this book and its rich plot. I'll be going back to read the rest of the series - when I started reading, I didn't know it was part of a series. I can't wait!

SEXY AS HELL is HOT AS HELL!

Sexy as Hell Trilogy  -
The Virgin, The Player and The Vixen
By Harlem Dae

Sexy as Hell is an erotic trilogy that will submerge you into the black heart of a world of bondage and discipline, Dominance and submission, sadism and masochism.

Dare to take this twisting journey with Victor and you’ll learn the ropes with him, experience every carnal sensation and fall into a dark and dangerous love that grips like a fist and binds like a collar.

Get to know Zara, his sultry teacher, and you’ll gasp when she doles out her sinful instructions but then delight in the stunning results she not only demands but achieves. It seems Heaven and Hell are not so far apart when she holds the reins.

Victor has his layers peeled back, but when he does the same to try to get to his Vixen’s core, a revelation appears. Because Zara is a woman whose vast sexual experience is both her strength and her weakness; she can inflict pain and pleasure, make lusty demands and instruct, but she needs so much more, she needs…

Yes, the time has come to for her to admit to her needs and confess to the repairing her soul hungers for. A sea of memories, a lifetime of control requires an acknowledgement that will cut through her barriers, and there’s only one man up for the job—her virgin, her student, her newly trained monster, Victor Partridge.

Please note, in order to enjoy Victor and Zara’s adventures, the trilogy must be read in order.

About the Authors

Lily Harlem and Natalie Dae have been writing together for several years on top of their individual author projects. Their joint name is now Harlem Dae. They enjoy being represented by traditional houses including HarperCollins and Total-E- Bound as well as self-publishing their sexy stories on Amazon. Both live in the UK and gain great satisfaction from bouncing characters and their raunchy antics back and forth, growing, nurturing and stoking plot lines until they steam off the page and push boundaries. They consider themselves to be solitary, whacky, spontaneous and desirous for many things including perfection and are frequently caught sending messages back and forth referring to each other as Rodney and Delboy.

About the Sexy as Hell Novels
The Virgin – Book #1
London – one meeting, one month of lessons and a landslide of depraved new desires.

My journey to Hell started with a decaff coffee. Nothing more than a grey mug full of dull-brown liquid devoid of its most useful ingredient.

One sip, one smile, one touch of her hand and it was soon clear my life wasn’t destined to stay dull. Oh, no, suddenly I had a month of bedroom education planned by a sultry vixen who intended to broaden my horizons beyond my usual peach-pink palette.

She wanted to take me to deep purples and navy blues and the pitch blackness that was pure sin. And on the other side of that blackness was a place that might look like Hell, with debauchery and wantonness, people playing devil’s advocate, luring innocents into the hotter, steamier corners of the world.

Her world.

Oh, yes, she promised each night to take me there and paint me an orange-and-red picture that would come alive, flickering like flames, enticing me, holding me spellbound and eager to learn more. To touch, explore, drown in coming.

And drown I would. I was no match for her tricks and taunts. My only chance of survival was to show her that I was no vanilla virgin. I had a rainbow of mastery up my sleeve, too, and if she just opened her eyes, she might be dazzled enough to stay—stay and take ‘my’ lessons. If she didn’t kill me first, that was, with pleasure.

The Player – Book #2
Tuscany – New lovers, new lessons and an eruption of uncontrollable lust.
The real world was working for me, its pastel shades and straight-and-
narrow route a familiar path to tread. It suited me, this normality; it was good for me too. Or so I thought, because the new light in my life, Catherine, was not quite fulfilling my needs. Her lack of colour, the weak whispers of her kisses were not touching my soul the way I’d become accustomed to. I needed more.

More of everything in my darkly addictive rainbow; the wicked wantonness of sin, the depraved pleasure of seedy seduction and the prism of delight I took in being struck…and of doing the striking. I missed the fireworks, the brilliant displays of Technicolor ecstasy that strung me out and bared me to my bones. I wanted to go there again, and take Catherine, too, see if I could have that pyrotechnic display with her. Did she have a riot of vibrant shades beneath her skin or was she magnolia to the core?

My teacher, Zara, told me I could discover her palette. That all I needed to do was show Catherine my world, my new world, the one I’d never inhabited alone. Zara couldn’t come with me this time, she had a new student now. I was on my own, it was down to me. Or was it?

It seemed my teacher had other ideas after all, and when she sashayed back into my life with her rules and murmurs of encouragement, I had no choice but to listen to her, take her advice, follow her lead, even though I knew nothing ever ended well with her. But resistance was futile, my protests fell on deaf ears. But that suited my plans, didn’t it?

The Vixen – Book #3
Venice – Two people, a shed load of baggage and a way forward that takes extreme to new limits.
In an explosion of clarity, the mist cleared and I understood what my
lascivious teacher, Zara, really was beneath the surface. I couldn’t see her beautiful core. Like a dank fog warning off poor unfortunates who wandered her way, she wouldn’t let the darkness lift, refused to light the way. But she gave me a key. It was small, stiff, and I was afraid of what I’d find if I turned it. But I did. I couldn’t resist. She did that to me.

In a tumble of truths, I understood her bleak voids and why she filled them with sharp slicing reds and hostile bruising purples. What had happened, what they’d done had bled her of colour and created a woman who needed so much more and always would—for all of time. But I could give her back that vibrancy, I was sure I could; my colours complimented hers and I had plenty of them. My needs could switch to take her to those grey places she needed to visit again in order to obliterate the memories that caused her pain. In the space they’d occupied, I’d create a pile of shimmering, perfectly cut-diamond memories, a rainbow cloud of sugar mist to replace that dankness. I could do it; I would help her become more beautiful than anything I’d seen before.

And within that new, delicate ‘thing’ was us. Victor and Zara. Unconventional, extreme, romantic, we spanned every shimmering stroke of the rainbow and all the coal-black shadows on the way down to Hell. But together we could fight demons. I would be her knight in shining armour even if it pushed me to the very limits of what I ever believed I could do to a woman. And what thrilled me, was if I bared my soul, found the courage to be a monster as well as an angel, I had a very real chance of making her mine—or did I? Because the only thing predictable about Zara, was that she was completely unpredictable.

Excerpt from The Virgin

I sighed then sipped my coffee, wondering what on earth was the matter with me. Perhaps this game with Victor was dragging me down. If that was the case, I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I stared into space, working out what to show him next. There were the Swedes—mustn’t forget those—but maybe they’d be better off left for the finale. God, that would give him a last visual to remember his time with me by. I could only hope he learned from what I was teaching him and didn’t file it in the back of his mind. What a waste if he didn’t use it with future women, either as a sub or having a go at domination himself. When he’d got going last night he’d given off an unstoppable energy. It was muted assertiveness yes, but I was pretty sure it was there.
Bile rose into my throat.
Was I coming down with something? That would be all I’d need, being sick smack bang in the middle of a bet. I breathed deeply, waiting for a slash of nausea to strike, but nothing came. Maybe the milk in the coffee wasn’t as fresh as it could be. I shrugged, once again studying the men in the coffee shop. One of them, nice-looking and hair much like Victor’s, greying a bit at the temples but not quite as long at the back as his, was typing steadfastly on his laptop. I wondered what he did for a living that meant he spent his coffee break working. Or perhaps he wasn’t working at all. He might well be firing off saucy emails to a woman who read them while frigging her clit. Would Victor be up for something like that?
I wasn’t about to wait to find out. I reached into my bag and pulled out my phone. Having stored his email address in my mind, I tapped the icon for my mail app and typed it in, taking a moment to think on what to put. In the subject line I typed CAN YOU WALK PROPERLY TODAY? then proceeded with the main entry.

Dear Mr Doesn’t-Know-It-All-But-Knows-A-Bit-More-Than-Before,
I hope this email finds you in good spirits. How is your arse? Sore? I imagine it is. Mine isn’t, just in case you were wondering. I have a blissful kind of ache going on down there, and every time I move I think of you with your cock inside me. I have to admit, I’m wondering how that cock would feel in my cunt again, but we have plenty of time for me to find out, don’t we?
Now, about tonight. I doubt your back hole is up for any more invasions just yet, so I thought us watching a performance might be the best way to go. There’s an act you haven’t seen yet—The Harlequin; you’ll see why when you get there—and it will show you a thing or two.
8 o’clock sharp at Eden Street. If you don’t turn up this time…well, it’d be pointless if you didn’t. You know damn well I’ll only come and find you and do what I have in mind anyway. And you’ll enjoy it, I promise.
By the way, I’m enjoying a lovely coffee. Isn’t it about time you took a break?
Mistress Z

I smiled as I hit SEND, imagining his mail alarm tinkling, him opening his email browser thinking it was a client or one of his staff, only to find little old me had barged into his inbox. I wanted to barge into his inbox for real, but like I’d said to him, I didn’t think his arse could take another invasion so soon.
I sipped and gazed around while waiting for his response. If he didn’t send one immediately, then that was all right. He might be busy drawing or in a meeting or something. I hoped he wasn’t—hoped he was at his desk, bored and waiting for a decent distraction. Did he ever get bored at work, what with all those important projects to be getting on with?
My phone gave a solitary blip, and I looked down to see a number one in the corner of my mail icon. Excited, and wanting to laugh so loud it made people stare, I opened my mail.

Dear Mistress Z,
You are so naughty, emailing me like this. What did I tell you last night? I’m a busy man—too busy to be having filthy email conversations with you. Too busy to take a bloody break.
Yes, I’ll be at Eden Street at 8, not because you ordered me there but because I want to see The Harlequin. I enjoy a good show—perhaps you’d like me to take you to one of my kind some day? And yes, my arse is sore, thank you very much.
Mr Won’t-Take-Any-More-Orders-For-The-Rest-Of-The-Day

Ha! So he wasn’t so busy that he didn’t have time to respond. And as for not taking any more orders…he’d be taking them tonight.

Dear Mr I’m-Too-Busy-For-My-Mistress-Who-Likes-To-Put-Things-Up-My-Arse,
Thank you so much for your prompt response, despite being a very busy man. I appreciate you finding the time to squeeze me into your hectic schedule. I should be flattered. However, there’s always time for a bit of slap and tickle, and I aim to show you that all work and no play might make Victor a very dull man. And it had made you dull, hadn’t it? Admit it. When was the last time you had fun before you met me? Lighten up a little.
If you have a client sitting opposite your desk—and I can’t imagine you being so rude as to write filth to me if you did; again, not enough balls—or you have someone in your office, or perhaps you’re in someone else’s office and answering mail on your phone, just imagine what they’d think if they knew what we were talking about. Don’t you think it makes for an interesting deviance from your usual boring day? What a secret to have, sending raunchy messages to a woman when no one else knows.
What a secret to have when a woman emails you saying she’d like nothing more than to pay you a visit, yank down your trousers, and stuff your very hard cock into her mouth.
And you are hard, aren’t you?
Mistress Z

I sent the message and smiled. I was skating on thin ice here, risking annoying him or getting him so exasperated that the next response from him might not be so kind. Still, it was passing the time, and I could imagine him now, reading my message with a too-hard cock and no way to relieve it unless he visited the bathroom and took himself in hand. If he was in a meeting, all the better. A stiffy when sitting at a conference table could only make him want to see me tonight all the more.
My alert pinged.

Dear Mistress-Z-Who-Is-So-Infuriating-She-Makes-Me-Want-To-Scream,
I’m alone in my office, trying to work, and no, that doesn’t mean you can send me more of your dirty little messages. I really do need to get along here, and it’s all very well saying I should have secrets and should enjoy all this email sex malarkey—and I am in a way, I just wish you hadn’t chosen today to do it—but I have deadlines.
I don’t want to brush you off, believe me I don’t, but in answer to your question, yes, I’m too damn hard and it’s going to take a while for me to stop thinking about your pert little body and concentrate on work.
Now stop it. I mean it, just stop.
Mr Wants-To-Fuck-Around-With-You-But-Can’t

A grin a mile wide spread across my face. That was all I’d been after, him admitting he wanted me, giving me some assurance that he’d be at Eden Street tonight. Oh, I knew he’d said he’d be there, but after his no-show before, I’d had to make sure. And now I knew he wanted to fuck me, was sitting at his desk trying to deflate his cock, I was on cloud nine.
As I was just about to hug myself in victory, the man who looked a bit like Victor came up to my table. I stared at him, wondering what he could want, and slid my phone back into my bag.
“May I join you?” he asked.
“If you like,” I said, giving him my best I-can-hook-you-in-a-heartbeat smile. It felt wrong on my face, stretching it painfully, and I didn’t understand why. “So,” I said, following my usual patter, “what brings a hunk like you here?”
He grinned, blue eyes flashing, and placed his laptop on the table. “Having the chance to pick up a woman like you.”
Oh, someone else who thought he should be the one to run the show. I refrained from rolling my eyes and gave him another smile instead. Inwardly I sighed at having to go through this again, when all I wanted was to go home and think about tonight. I didn’t like other men encroaching on my time when I was teaching someone else.
So why were you here the other day then? The day Victor dropped in and caught you looking at other men?
I frowned. All right, so I was a hypocrite. I’d have to be honest with myself—this man wasn’t floating my boat, no matter how similar to Victor he was. No matter how attractive he was.
“I’m not here to be picked up,” I said. “I’m…well, I’m seeing someone.”
I stood and grabbed my bag, slinging the strap over my shoulder and heading to the door without looking back. I couldn’t believe I’d said that to him, had turned down the chance at a one-night stand come the end of the month. But it was all I’d been able to think of to get rid of him, to make my exit appear acceptable.
There was no other reason for saying what I had at all.

The future…
Look out for secondary characters in the trilogy, they all have their own sexy as hell stories to tell and they’re coming soon! More details about The Star, The Harlequin and The Mistress on the Harlem Dae website.
