#REVIEW: Lifers @JHarveyBerrick

Lifers by Jane Harvey-Berrick
After eight years in prison, twenty-four year old Jordan Kane is the man everyone loves to hate.

Forced to return to his hometown while on parole, Jordan soon learns that this small town hasn't changed since he was carted off to juvie all those years ago. He is the local pariah, shunned by everyone, including his own parents. But their hatred of him doesn't even come close to the loathing he feels every time he looks in the mirror.

Working odd jobs for the preacher lady, Jordan bides his time before he can leave this backwards town. But can distance erase the memories that haunt him? Trapped in the prison of his own mind Jordan wonders if the pain of living will ever subside?

Torrey Delaney is new in town and certainly doesn't behave in a way the locals believe a preacher’s daughter should. Her reputation for casual hook-ups and meaningless sex is the talk of the town. Add that to her budding friendship with the hardened ex-con handyman, and the good Reverend is less than thrilled with her estranged daughter’s path.

As friendship forms, is it possible for two damaged people who are afraid to love take their relationship to the next level? Can Torrey live with Jordan’s demons, and can Jordan break through Torrey's walls? With the disapproval of a small town weighing heavily on them, will they find their place in the world? Can they struggle against the odds, or will their world be viciously shattered?
Is love a life sentence?
Due to scenes of a sexual nature, not recommended for under 18.

REVIEW
I adored other books I've read by Jane in the past and as soon as I saw this book, I had to read it. Holy Hell! I'm so glad I did. She has this way of taking readers into the story, making it impossible not to feel what the characters are going through. There were tear-filled moments, passages that made my stomach clench, and scenes that made my heart feel heavy. It was absolutely, tragically romantic. Readers experience this incredible love story between two characters who deserve this chance at happiness. It's not your typical romance but if you've read Jane's books before, you know not to expect that. This is real, tough and in the end, so very worth the journey.

Loved - Loved - Loved Lifers.

About The Author
I lived in London for over 10 years and have a love affair with New York. It's only since I have moved to the countryside, that the words have really begun to flow. Writing has become a way of life – and one that I love to share.

A Blindness #REVIEW @TheGingerScott

Blindness by Ginger Scott

It takes a while to know who you really are. And when you lose your way, sometimes it’s hard to find it again.

Charlie Hudson was on the verge of figuring that out when her dad—the only parent and friend she ever had—died suddenly. She was barely eighteen, and she was alone. So she went for easy—playing life safe, running away from a home that harbored nothing but bad memories and challenges and loving a man who would take her away from it all forever.

It’s funny how chance takes over when you need it most. And that’s exactly what brought Cody Carmichael into her life. A former motocross super star, Cody was now happy to be living the blue collar life, spending his days finishing up school and his nights under the hood of some classic car, just trying to keep everything his father taught him alive. Cody and Charlie were living parallel lives, until they finally collided. And the moment he smiled at her, Charlie knew he was the one who would change everything. But was she willing to take the risk?

Cody saw through it all. He saw her—all of her. But would letting him in be too much to take? And if Charlie let herself love him—really love him—could he love her back?

REVIEW
First, let's all take a moment to admire the cover. Delicious? I think so. Now, let's move on...

Despite maybe wanting to throttle the main character for just not getting it (reminding myself she's a young adult), Blindness is a great story. It follows Charlie who finds herself in a love triangle of sorts. Everything about her behavior is spot-on for a young adult so readers get all that angst. However, the author does a good job of balancing the angst along the story so readers don't feel overwhelmed by it. Secondary characters lighten up some scenes while others provide a deeper understanding of the primary characters.

I liked Trevor (and was so grateful he had nothing to do with how his father treated Cody) but I LOVED Cody. That boy had so much going on and from the very first interaction, there was no denying the attraction between Charlie and Cody. They shared such simple moments that built into these intense feelings for one another through a well-paced story.

Their intimate moments were beautiful, if not so much steamy, which is more appropriate (IMHO) for the New Adult genre. But it's the road that finally brings them together that makes them strong.

PS... I still don't really get the title so if anyone has insight, feel free to share. Really, though, who the hell cares with such a hottie on the cover?!

Audiobook #REVIEW: When You're Ready @AuthorJLBerg

When You're Ready (Ready #1) by J.L. Berg is beautifully romantic. The love story is sweet and tender. But there's nothing tender about how the words wrap themselves around your heart and squeeze. This poignant story will stay with you long after that final page.

Years after suffering the tragic loss of her husband, Ethan, which left her alone to raise their young daughter, Clare Murray still holds the last letter he wrote with the words "When You're Ready" written in his familiar messy handwriting, unable to break its weathered seal. Ready for what? He was her entire world, and Clare had accepted a life without him, without love. Until years later, fate brings her to an emergency room, and face to face with a stormy-eyed doctor intent on changing her mind.

Son of a billionaire, Logan Matthews has spent his life trying to make his absentee father proud. Without a family to depend on, all he's ever wanted is a place to call home. After a failed marriage, Logan believes he's unworthy of love...until he meets a woman who awakens his spirit and transforms his entire life in an instant.

But how far are Clare and Logan willing to go for love? Can his love mend the pieces of her grieving heart?

When their love is tested, is Clare ready to put her whole heart on the line again? Can Logan learn the true meaning of love, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness? When a second chance at love is given, Clare and Logan learn you are never truly ready until you're ready to risk it all.

Listening to this book on audio (Narrators: Carly Robins, Scott Aiello) was difficult at times. There were moments when I couldn't hold back tears. But mostly, I found myself in awe of the main characters. Clare had lived through such a tragedy and came out stronger. There were moments of weakness which served to make her real to the readers but the author also portrayed the inner strength of a fierce mother. I always enjoy books that have children as characters because, just as this book did, it brings a freshness to the scenes.

When Logan enters their lives, he's not portrayed as a knight in shining armor (an overdone trope in romance these days). He's just a good guy -albeit mighty hot and quite sexy- who isn't scared off by a complicated woman. He has his own baggage that he copes with without allowing it to control him.

Together, Clare and Logan get to a place of happiness... when she's ready... damn, that letter made me sob. Incredibly beautiful moment when finally Clare decides its time to live fully.

I highly recommend this book.

Liz Everly, Like Honey, eKensington, April 2014

Wanted: A Hot Honey of a Man

Love brought Jennifer D’Amico to Scotland, but it’s honey that makes her stay. Her honey farm is all the beautiful widow has left of her brief marriage. All she needs is a master beekeeper to get the flailing business back on track. What she gets is Grayson McGhilly, a boldly sexy stranger who knows his honey–almost as well as he knows how to bring Jennifer to the brink of passion. . ..

From the moment Gray lays eyes on Jennifer, he’s hooked, mind and body. But his mission isn’t just to savor every succulent inch of her, but to keep her from harm. For Gray isn’t just a beekeeper, but an undercover agent investigating criminal activity at her farm. And now he’ll do just about anything to keep the sweet and oh-so-satisfying Jennifer safe in his arms. . ..

Oh how do I love thee, Ms. Everly?  Let me count the ways.....Like chocolate, like spice, like honey....  For those who love food with sex, or sex with food, Liz Everly has some stories for you! Some may call it culinary romance - I think that doesn't begin to touch the adventure, mystery, passion and romance of the Saffron Nights series.

Spies, undercover agents, mystery, intrigue, sex and love - these are the incredibly sexy ingredients tossed together and artfully arranged to create Like Honey!   Jennifer, hard working publishing drone of previous stories, finds brief happiness after being jilted by Sanj (between books 1&2) and then whirlwind courting and marriage to Ren (between books 2 and 3).  Now a widow, inheriting her husband's family bee business in the highlands of Scotland, Jennifer struggles to make a success of a failing enterprise.  Gray has a mission, by edict of his former lover, to investigate the possible illicit activities of her farm.  They meet mysteriously at the Mead Maker's ball, masked for an encounter hinting at full blown passion, which pulls at them throughout the novel.  Readers will hang on each page waiting to see when the pieces will fall into place.  Mystery and danger surround Jennifer and Gray manages to save her time and again.  Who doesn't love a hero like that?

A few things always stand out for me with Ms. Everly's writing.  It is always amazingly well crafted.  Words are like food ingredients - perfectly combined and arranged to create mystery, flavor and drama.  Characters have depth and dialogue is clever, pulling the reader in deeper to the suspense of the story and the passion of Jennifer and Gray's romance.  And the sensuality of her character - unashamed of their sexuality - makes for highly enjoyable and intensely erotic moments peppering the storyline.  For those fans of multi-layered romances, contemporary and romantic suspense, Like Honey will tantalize your taste buds to be sure!

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries and some honey cakes and mead!  This book was provided by the author for an unbiased review.  Many thanks!!

She might think he’s not around for the long haul, but this is one Johnson brother who knows exactly what he wants…and just how to get it. And what he wants is Tess in his bed and in his life forever. Nothing will stop him, not even Tess herself
.

REVIEW:
Bran and Tess have been friends since high school. Tess had a big crush, but Bran just didn't see her that way. Resigned to being "just friends" is hard but Tess knows that's the only way she can be in Bran's life.

Tess is a constant in Bran's life and his best friend until their graduation from Annapolis when Tess kisses him in celebration and BAM all of a sudden Bran realizes his best friend is a girl.

Several years later the two are still friends when they end up assigned to the same base...then just sit back and watch the fireworks because things are about to get serious.

I love these kinds of stories where long time friends suddenly have that special AH-HA moment.Tess is a strong character and I enjoyed seeing her softer side come out with Bran.  This was a quick sexy read that I was wishing was longer. If you are looking for something to spice up an afternoon then this is a winner!

REVIEW
Intrigued. That's the one word I was left with when I finished this novella. It piqued my interest and left me hungering for more of the story, as I'm sure was the author's intent. I want to know more and am sure to be on the lookout for the next book.

The story is told from the heroine's perspective in a series of current day scenes sprinkled with flashbacks. It took a bit to get used to the unusual flow but once I was immersed in the story, it felt okay and was done smoothly enough despite my normal aversion to this style of story-telling.

So far, the story is tightly woven. Details are shared at a slow pace, allowing readers to piece together the mystery of just how the heroine ended up as a prisoner. The psychological perspective by digging into the main character's psyche was well done and added to the depth of her character.

Consider yourself warned... if you read this novella, you'll be hooked and eagerly waiting for the rest to follow. Trust me. This is a promising new serial.

My Guilty Indulgence: Author Ruby Fielding @PollyJAdams

My Guilty Indulgence
It’s only stalking if you follow them home

For many, writing is a solitary activity, and I’ve always had a tendency to be a bit of a loner. I’d rather be reading a book than out partying into the small hours. In fact, right up until my mid-twenties I led a quiet life, and although I’d lived in various parts of the UK I’d only rarely ventured into foreign territories. I was a real home girl.

Then, realisation struck: life was passing me by. If I didn’t go out and seize every experience I could, then no one was going to do it for me. Since then, I’ve travelled a lot, and lived in some fabulous places around the world - my first overseas home was a beach cabin in Kerala. Making my living from various forms of writing means I’m not tied to any one place and that has been a truly liberating thing.

But there are dangers in this kind of life, too: the loneliness of the long-distance traveler, if you like. I have lots of friends, but they’re widely scattered around the world. And given that I do have that tendency to be a loner, when I’m somewhere new and have no ties or network, it’s easy for me to retreat into the pages of a book, whether it’s one I’m reading or one I’m writing.

For these reasons, one decision I made early on about my writing routine is something I’ve never regretted and it has become my guilty indulgence. I try not to write in my trailer or hotel room, or in the lovely little forest cabin where I’m currently living. I get out there, into the thick of things. I relish the buzz of everyday life around me, and so wherever I happen to be living you're likely to find me at the nearest wifi hot spot with my laptop and a large mug of coffee. Starbucks, Costa, or a quirky little coffee and cake shop run by throwbacks to the 60s - I love them all.

I write in intense bursts and then I indulge myself by sitting back and doing a bit of people-watching: those half-heard conversations, the little interactions, the tics and body language. I find myself filling in these strangers’ stories and so it is that I spend my days sitting among dreamers and spies, playing a vicarious part in secret rendezvous, in lovers’ brief encounters and bittersweet farewells. I find other people endlessly fascinating, and as I constantly remind myself, it’s only stalking if you follow them home.

Ruby Fielding’s new shifter novella, Hunted, was recently published by James Grieve Press:
Should she struggle to survive alone or give in to desire and risk the - perhaps deadly - company of others?

In a world where plague has swept civilization away like leaves in a storm, where viruses that cause people to shift and change have altered what it is, for most, to be human, a few survivors hold out in a desperate attempt to save the human race. Selene lives alone in the forest, protecting herself from human and shifter alike until one day a stranger turns up: a young man called Skinner, out on a quest to hunt down and destroy any shifter he can find. Torn between desire and fear, Selene must confront her true nature and make some impossible choices if she is to survive this harsh, post-apocalyptic future.

Hunted: a Shifters' World novella - a shapeshifter erotic romance of survival and desire in a deadly future from the co-author of Seduced by Moonlight and The Touch.

Extract
He had been lying back in the water, arms spread, eyes shut, drifting slowly until now he straightened, found his footing on the rocky bottom of the pool – she knew the slimy hardness of those rocks so well! – and stood.

Swaying for balance, the water came up to his ribs now.

His arms were long and lean, his frame wiry and muscular. He had the look of a fighter, a scrapper. A survivor.

That smudge of dark hair thickened across his chest, down over his ribs and over his belly, she saw, as he started to emerge from the water, treading carefully as he headed towards dry land... towards her.

His belly rippled with muscles and looked hard, dark with that hair as it thickened towards...

She swallowed as he paused, the water around his thighs and the long shaft of his manhood hanging down, fat and heavy. Its head just touched the water’s surface, sending its own ripples spreading outwards.

She reached down, fingers trailing across her ribs, her belly, to the waistband of her jeans, that belt of cord and the hardness she had tucked there before venturing out.

Easing it free, she raised the handgun, suddenly very aware of its weight. She didn’t aim it yet, just stood there with it poised. A solid lump of reassurance in her hands.

The man stretched, yawning, and she watched his manhood twitch, and then flop to one side as he took another step out of the water. Its length swung easily as he moved.

“You got a silver bullet in that thing?”

He was staring right at the screen of vegetation, as if he could see through it!

She didn’t move. She wasn’t the only one whose senses were attuned to the environment, it seemed.

“If so, you don’t want to be wasting that silver bullet on me,” the man went on.

How long since she’d heard another voice? She didn’t know. Another memory lost, or buried deep.

“It’s an old wives’ tale anyhow.” The man’s tone was easy, conversational; no indication from his voice that she had a handgun that was now trained on him and he was standing there butt-naked in front of her. “Silver bullet or any old bullet – you hit one of the beasts right in the head or in the heart and it’ll drop just like a man. Useful piece of information that, and I’m giving it you as a gift, you hear me?”

One more step, another, and he was clear of the water.

She studied him, unable to deny the base feelings the sight stirred in her. How long had it been? Since the touch of another human, of bare skin against her own. The intimacy, and the trust.

And damn, but he was growing hard as he stood there! As he’d been talking, that shaft had thickened even more as it filled out, hung longer, then started to push away from his body. Then, like an animal emerging from its lair, the swollen purple head started to break free, the skin rolling back to reveal that most intimate of places.

Now, the man shrugged, and a shy smile broke across his face. “I think I need to apologize, ma’am. It’s been a time and I guess my body’s got a few less manners than the rest of me. If you’d just allow me to...?” He nodded towards a pile of clothes nearby.

She caught herself. She had to pull herself together, stop reacting like this. She was a woman. She was a human. She was in control of herself and her responses. She wouldn’t allow herself to be distracted by...

“No,” she snapped.

How long since she’d spoken aloud? Her voice was dry, little more than a croak. “You wait there where I can see you,” she went on. “Ain’t no reason why I should trust you with your things.” Who knew what he might have concealed there with his clothes?

He shrugged, and spread his hands briefly, as if to acknowledge the sense in her caution, and damn, but that thing of his just cranked itself up a notch or two higher as, finally, she broke free of her hiding place and came to stand before him.

#REVIEW Breathe Into Me @SaraFawkes

RELEASING Soon!
Breathe Into Me by Sara Fawkes

How did my life get so broken?  It’s a question Lacey St. James asks herself every day.  Stuck raising her little brother in a trailer park while she works a dead end job at a grocery store, she has a stalker exboyfriend, a bad reputation, and no way out.

And then, she meets Everett, who changes her entire existence.

Everett is an outsider who’s housesitting his family’s mansion off the coast, and for reasons Lacey can’t understand, he’s completely transfixed by her. He seems determined to show her that life can offer more than she’d ever hoped for, if only she believes in herself.  She desperately yearns to trust him, but what happens when she finds out that everything he’s told her is a lie?

REVIEW
Beautifully designed cover, intriguing concept and intense characters. Everett and Lacey were a good leading couple and their relationship is a steady build up so readers get to know them as they interact. There's depth to these characters, especially considering Everett's secret and the broken-down state of Lacey. My heart broke for Lacey who seems so alone in the world. It was wonderful to see Everett attempt to care for her. They just seemed to fit. But there were parts of the book that didn't fit... odd transitions that pulled me from the story and created an awkward flow. This may have been done purposefully for effect but it didn't work so much for me. Otherwise, the story was enjoyable. The best part of the book was the characters.

Found it in a thrift store Friday

Aphrodite's Kiss by Julie Kenner
In order to save the world, a superhero-in-training must overcome not only her archenemy, but her fear of falling in love with the handsome detective who can help her.

Check me out! I off roaded! I scrolled thru Phil (that's my Kindle's name) looking for something to read and had this title marked. What a nice surprise! Mind you I didn't see the cover so I had no idea what to expect. Honestly I had no idea it was going to be set in modern day times. To give you a quick run down (since the back cover is sparse) with out spoiling it here's how is rolls...... Zoe is a halfling. Half human half god. She is approaching her 25th birthday where she has to choose a side. IF she choose the good side she must complete her tests of her super powers and then there's the pesky prophecy that says the stone from Aphrodite's girdle will fall upon a halfling. Which comes down to Zoe and her cousin. So basically he who gets the stone rules. While trying to master her super powers and get to the stone first plain ol' Zoe meets Taylor a PI who ends up getting mixed up in this mess as well.

This book has pool/beach side reading written all over it!

Excerpt
My forehead leans against hers as I gaze into her deep blue eyes that are full of longing. I want her to believe me, to trust in me, to feel that I need her. I didn’t want her to get hurt because of me, but I can’t stay away any longer. I need her more than anything. She is my drug and I’m giving in to my addiction.
I lick and bite my lip in anticipation, waiting for her to let me in. I can’t stop wanting her, but if she really doesn’t want me the same way I do then I’ll have no choice but to stop. “Tell me what you want. What you really need. Do you want me to let you go? Do you want me to stop hunting for you?” I whisper.
I’m pleading in my head for her to say ‘no.’ I look her in the eye, telling her without words that this is what I desire the most. She takes in a deep breath and opens her mouth.
When she says, “Kiss me. I want you to kiss me,” I’m done for.
I press my lips on top of hers like before, taking it slow and easy this time. It felt like I was dying of thirst, but now, after knowing she’s okay with it, I’m much calmer. I take her lips in slow, lavish licks, kissing her with every ounce of my love.
She shivers in my arms as I hold onto her tight, pulling her closer to me. She kisses me back tenderly, her lips as caring and soft as she is. Her hot mouth is driving me insane. She’s the only one who can do this to me.
She’s turning to mush in my arms, and I love how it feels, so powerful, so intense. My instincts take over as I grab her hands and pin them above her head. I alternate my kisses with nibbles, arousing her so much she moans out loud. My cock responds with enthusiasm, poking against the fabric of my pants, eager to take her.
Before I know it, my hands are slipping down her body, along her waist, and to her thighs, my fingers desperate to squeeze that tight ass of hers. Her arms find their way to my chest, and I love how she feels me up, desperate to get a hold of me. She twines her arms around my neck, giving me full access to her skin. I kiss my way to her neck, finally able to press my lips on that one spot I know winds girls up. She starts panting, and then I know I’ve hit the sweet spot.
I’ve waited so long for this that it takes every fiber of my being not to pick her up and bang her against the car right now. She’s a virgin, and I don’t want to make her do things she’s not ready for. She’s never been fucked, and that’s all I ever do. I don’t make love. I bang girls, take them in whatever position I like. I’m not so sure she’s even been kissed like this before.
But shit, this is fucking hot.
I pull back for a second, breathing out my horniness. “God, that dress,” I groan. “Why’d you have to put that on?”
“Couldn’t come to the party in a pair of sweatpants,” she mutters.
She giggles when I leave little pecks on her collarbone, peeking down into her dress. I can already see the swell of her tits, primed and ready for me to cup and lick the crown. “Hmmm …” I rest my head on her shoulder, nibbling on her earlobe. “You look so damn hot … You don’t wanna know what goes on in my mind when you’re all dressed up like this. It’s too dirty to handle,” I whisper.
I can feel the goose bumps forming on her body as my hands slide down her arm. “Although I wouldn’t mind the sweatpants either. Easier to take off.”
Although nothing beats her sex appeal in this black dress. Damn.
I suckle on her earlobe and move back to her lips again, leaving hickeys all over her neck. My hand shifts to her ass and I squeeze tight, feeling her perky flesh in my fingers. She gasps. Hot fucking Jesus. Now I really want to come inside her.
Our lips are locked, our eyes closed, and my mind is whirring with thoughts about stripping her bare. When she grasps my hair and tugs me closer my cock thumps in my pants. My fingers slide down her leg and move up her dress, slowly getting closer to her most sensitive spot. God, I wonder if she’s ever been touched there. I’d like to be the first.
I’m fucking her with my mouth, my tongue going crazy as I press my cock against her thigh. Sweet Jesus. We’re not even naked yet and I already feel like I want to make her scream my name.

DID YOU READ Fierce (Book One) Yet?
REVIEW of Fierce
Fierce is a good read. It caught me with the incredibly hot cover and then it had some great one-liners.

Then I got into the story and found that I didn't really like the characters. Frankly, Hunter was a complete jerk. BUT that's usually okay with me - I don't need to like them to enjoy the story. I did, however, need to understand and feel the attraction. This took awhile - I'm not sure I really do get the attraction still but I got distracted by the craziness surrounding the couple. This book has a lot going on and to enjoy it, readers have to just go along with it. It's fiction, right? Just enjoy it for the sake of a good read. And then go back often and drool over this delicious cover! Yum!

The all-consuming guilt he feels every time he thinks of that girl who won't so much as allow him near her hospital room to apologize. As the months go by and the shame and loneliness festers, Cole begins to lose his grip of what once was important-college, his girlfriend, his future. His life. About FOUR SECONDS TO LOSE
Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine year old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.

Twenty-two-year old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting anddancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her doesn’t need to complicate her life with romance. Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her.

Unconditional RDL Teaser2EXCERPT
A noise comes. A shadow rears up in the dark. I scream. “What the hell?” Panic claws my chest and I scream again, reaching blindly for something to fight him off. Squatters and junkies and all kinds of dangerous men fill my mind as my hand closes around something solid on the hall table and I swing with everything I’ve got. “Goddamn!” The figure reels back, stumbling against the wall. “Get away from me!” I cry, shaking. My heart is racing so fast I think it might beat right out of my chest. I grip the object in my hand tighter. “Don’t touch me!” “I’m not trying to touch you!” The man roars, angry. “I just want to know what you’re doing breaking into my goddamn house!” The light flips on. I reel back, blinded by the sudden glare, but as the daze clears and my eyes flick back into focus, I see the man in front of me for the first time. I stop breathing. He’s half-naked, that’s the first thing I notice. Jesus, his body is like nothing I’ve ever seen before: tanned bronze and chiselled like a Greek god, but not like the guys I’ve dated, all waxed and pumped from hours at a fancy gym. This guy is real, raw, all muscle and power, with web of dark tattoos snaking over the bicep of his right arm. I feel a flush roll through me, hot with prickling awareness, but I can’t look away as I take in his tight, sculpted six-pack abs, and the trail of dark hair leading down to the waistband of his navy briefs... “Don’t mind me, darlin’.” his voice comes. “Any time you’re done looking...” I snap my eyes up to his face, blushing. Then I look at him for real and it all clicks into place. “Oh,” My heart clenches in my chest as I recognize him for the first time. “It’s you.” Unshaven face. Messy mahogany bed-head hair. And a pair of stormy ocean-blue eyes scowling at me like I’m the last person on earth he wants to see. And I can say, the feeling is entirely mutual. “It’s me.” Garrett Sawyer agrees in a low, Southern drawl. He strides over and snatches the vase from my hand, setting it down on the table with a thud. “Now, you want to tell me what the hell you’re doing creeping around my house at three in the goddamn morning?”

TOUR & #REVIEWS: Fixer Series @AlysonRaynes

Promiscuous (Fixer #2) by Alyson Raynes
A cold front was moving in and a slight chill moved through me. Knowing how he felt about me, I knew he would do anything to keep me safe. Committing murder wasn’t beneath him and it was dangerous for me to think that he could be involved in Amber’s death.

I was trapped in a dark place, scared with nothing to eat; barely breathing. I missed the man I could no long remember but knew existed long ago. The promise of rescue keeps me from losing what's left of my mind.

I loved him, believing he loved me too but time had passed, my memories scattered, almost non-existent. I longed for a closeness, to be with him; then realized I don't even know who he is.

REVIEW
Promiscuous took Dylan and Brooke's story up a whole new notch and I loved it. The author's style is smoother, her characters more fully developed. There's a lot going on in this book but I was prepared and buckled in for this rollercoaster of a ride. You won't believe all that happens but just go with it. It's a wild ride and your head will be spinning in the end and eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. I adore Dylan... oh, yea... and Brooke too. Another Book BoyFriend for me (sorry, Brooke)!

RATING
4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
This book was given to us by the author. Many thanks

Deception (Fixer #1) by Alyson Raynes
Brooke has spent the past eleven years living with a man she thought would be her forever. One afternoon of unanswered phone calls reveals he isn’t the man she thought he was. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, she’s forced to call upon a stranger for help.

Can Dylan save Brooke from her broken past or does he have secrets of his own that will destroy them before they even get started?

REVIEW
Deception is a solid novella from a new author. The concept behind the story was strong and while I liked the characters, they needed a bit more development. Since it's a short read, the story happens quickly with little build up. Just go with it and you'll revel in the connection Dylan and Brooke make. It reminded me of young love which was nice. My interest is definitely peaked enough to continue on in the series.

RATING
3 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
