The Fireman Who Loved Me @Jen_Bernard #review #firemen

April showers bring May flowers.  The weather is heating up and so are we!  Join us every day this week for our homage to hot, hunky fireman - who doesn't love a man in uniform?  The Indulgent Bloggers chose April as Fireman extravaganza - a week of assorted fireman stories so hot, you'll wish you had a sprinkler system!

The Fireman Who Loved Me, Jennifer Bernard

Book One of the Bachelor Firemen Novels

Fearless, smoking hot and single: meet the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel. These firemen might be heroes, but it's their bad luck in love that makes them legendary.

News producer Melissa McGuire and Fire Captain Harry Brody couldn't be more different, though they do have one thing in common: they're both convinced they're perfectly wrong for each other.

But when Melissa's matchmaking grandmother wins her a date with Brody at a bachelor auction... Sparks fly. Passion flares. Heat rises. (You get the picture.)

Add a curse, a conniving nightly news anchor, a stunningly handsome daredevil fireman, a brave little boy, a couple of exes, and one giant fire to the mix and Melissa and Brody's love may not be the only thing that burns.

REVIEW:

Who knew turn out gear could be so sexy? Apparently, Jennifer Bernard does! Her debut novel and first in a delightful series, The Fireman Who Loved Me is a charming and funny story with a huge dollop of sexy romance hot enough to need a portable extinguisher. How can one not love a story that starts with a matchmaking Grandma hellbent on bringing her feisty granddaughter together with the Captain of a battalion of sexy firemen?

Melissa McGuire has been burned badly, learning that it is never wise to mix work and romance. Her grandmother orchestrates a set up for her from a charity bachelor auction. Captain Harry Brody is far from her usual type and yet, there is a spark neither can deny. And where there's smoke...there's fire!

As enjoyable as it is to watch the main characters bumble and stumble into love, the action in this story belongs to the crew at the fire house. San Gabriel's cursed bachelor firemen are the most fun cast of characters I've read in a while. These men, with their goofy names and big hearted camaraderie, save the dragging moments in the push and pull of Melissa and Brody romance.

Jennifer Bernard captures her readers with unique and appealing stories. The Fireman Who Loved Me is an enjoyable romance and a great kickoff to this series which only gets hotter!!

RATING: Four Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries!

Hot Damn! Hot Head! #Audiobook #REVIEW @DamonSuede Sexy #Firemen!

Hot Damn! I listened to Hot Head (Head #1) by Damon Suede on audiobook. It should've come with a warning... something like "Contents May Be Hot When Turned On" because Charlie David, the narrator, took Suede's already steamy story and made it combustible.

BLURB
Where there's smoke there's fire. . .

Since 9/11, Brooklyn firefighter Griff Muir has wrestled with impossible feelings for his best friend and partner at Ladder 181: Dante Anastagio. Unfortunately Dante is strictly a ladies' man and the FDNY isn’t exactly gay-friendly. For 10 years, Griff has hidden his heart in a half-life of public heroics and private anguish.

Griff’s caution and Dante’s cockiness make them an unbeatable team. To protect his buddy, there’s nothing Griff wouldn’t do… until Dante is nearly bankrupt and proposes the worst possible solution: HotHead.com, a gay-porn website where uniformed hunks get down-n-dirty… Now Dante wants them to appear there— together.

Griff may have to guard his heart and live out his darkest fantasies on camera. Can he rescue the man he loves without wrecking their careers, their families, or their friendship?

REVIEW
There are thousands of reviews out there for this book so nothing I could say would be new but I just had to give this audiobook specifically a shout out (and 5 chocolate-dipped strawberries) because it is now on my favorites shelf.

The friendship and camaraderie, the emotional -but not overly angsty- struggle, the personal discovery, the connections and secondary characters, and of course the love between these two men... all of these things melded together to create the perfect story. Then there's the sex... my, oh my, the chemistry was unreal. Who needs one fireman when you can have two? Just be careful... do not operate heavy machinery while listening to Hot Head on audiobook!

5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

On Fire by Drew Zachary @torquere #REVIEW #FIREMEN

April showers bring May flowers.  The weather is heating up and so are we!  Join us every day this week for our homage to hot, hunky fireman - who doesn't love a man in uniform?  The Indulgent Bloggers chose April as Fireman extravaganza - a week of assorted fireman stories so hot, you'll wish you had a sprinkler system!

On Fire, Drew Zachary, Torquere Press
On Fire #1
Take one tall, broad-shouldered fireman in his early thirties. Mix well with one skinny, eighteen-year-old college kid who lives for sex, and the results are sheer pleasure. Sam and Robert are about as opposite as you can get, aside from the fact that they're both into sex with guys. When Sam picks Robert up during Canada Day festivities, neither of them are expecting more than making some fireworks for the holiday. And the sparks definitely fly, especially since Sam is able to recharge his batteries as only an eighteen year old can. Robert finds himself both entranced and smitten with young Sam, who is bubbly and happy and can have more sex in the space of an hour than Robert can believe. But there's a world of difference between eighteen and thirty-two, as Sam and Robert discover along the way. Friends and family add to the difficulties they encounter. But the two of them come to realize that underneath it all, they have more than just a physical need for each other. The emotion that blossoms between them is soon as great as their first sizzling attraction. Drew Zachary, the author of Transforming Hades and Skin Deep, has written a romance as hot as the flame it's named after. Don't miss it!
REVIEW:
This was exactly what I was looking for for Firemen week. Two hot guys who scorched my Nook!

Sam is a college student who likes his hook ups quick and dirty. While walking around at Canada Day he thinks he has found Nirvana when he stumbles onto the firemen car wash. Let's face it there is nothing hotter than a wet fireman. When Sam spots Robert he almost blows right there.

Robert literally bumps into the hottest twink on two legs while finishing up his shift at the fireman car wash, now if he can just get sex on a stick Sam home before they are both arrested for public indecency it will be a miracle.

What starts out as just hot no-strings attached sex turns out to be so much more for both men. Sam and Robert are good now they just have to convince Sam's over-protective dad that Robert isn't a pervert and Roberts co-works that Sam isn't just using Robert, and everything will be good.

This book ended up being so much more than I thought when I started it. The development of the relationship while starting out quickly really takes time to develop. It was a great quick read and I for one was very happy to see there is a sequel.

If you like your stories HOT HOT HOT then On Fire is the book for you!

Thanks for the suggestion Cardeno!

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries and a cold Molson to put out the flames!

USA Today Bestselling author, L.P. Dover, is a southern belle residing in North Carolina along with her husband and two beautiful girls. Before she even began her literary journey she worked in Periodontics enjoying the wonderment of dental surgeries.

Aside from being a wife and mother, L.P. Dover has written over nine novels including her Forever Fae series, the Second Chances series, and her standalone novel, Love, Lies, and Deception. Her favorite genre to read is romantic suspense and she also loves writing it. However, if she had to choose a setting to live in it would have to be with her faeries in the Land of the Fae.

BOOK ONE

Korinne’s long-time friend, Jenna Perry, has an idea and it involves helping her friend find the spark of life in her soul no matter what it takes. BOOK TWO

BOOK THREE
Meant for Me (Second Chances #3)
After a night of raw passion with the man Claire O’Briene had been secretly admiring for years, she thought their time together had come once and for all. Fate had finally brought them back to each other, but unfortunately nothing had changed. He was still the same man who ran away from relationships. Against his better judgment, Mason Bradley gave in to the temptation and allowed himself one night with the one woman he’d been too afraid to want … too afraid to need.

Six months after leaving Claire and regretting every minute of it, Mason gets called in for an undercover mission that’s not only dangerous, but brings back a past he spent years trying to forget. A past of fighting … of getting in the ring and using his fists to get what he wanted: money, women, and drugs. Now there are fighters turning up dead, and it’s Mason’s job to find out the truth.

Knowing he might not come out of the mission alive, Mason seeks out Claire to tell her how he truly feels, only to find another man competing for her love as well. Fighting is what he’s good at, and for once he will be fighting not only for justice … but for love.

REVIEW
After the first book starting out sweet and all about the romance, the intensity continues to pick up with each book. Meant For Me is suspenseful and exciting. Claire and Mason have chemistry and comraderie - there's so much more than just the sex (though that's hot too!) with this couple working together on Mason's current assignment. It was nice to see an alpha man allow his lover such an active role in a dangerous situation. I really enjoyed their story.

I also think it's great that each book is a stand-alone book but also part of a series. Don't worry if you can't read them all because the author brings in the characters from the previous books without confusing readers who may have not met them already.

#REVIEW: Defining Destiny by Deanna Chase @writerdeanna

From USA Today bestselling author, Deanna Chase, the first book in the Destiny series.

When destiny fails...

Singer-songwriter Lucy Moore thought her life was perfect. At just twenty-one, she's already met her soul mate and together they've landed a recording contract. But when her father dies and the love of her life betrays her in more ways than one, she returns home to pick up the pieces. On the shores of Mendocino, California, Lucy has some decisions to make. Should she start a solo career? Or should she leave it all behind for some semblance of normalcy in the quiet town she grew up in? And what about Seth, the tortured artist who always seems to be there when she needs him?

Seth Keenan has demons of his own. Eighteen months ago, he was involved in a horrific accident that he never talks about. His career as an accomplished oil-paint artist has been abandoned, replaced by the buzz of his tattoo gun. And women--well, he never sticks around for longer than a few hours of pleasure... until he meets Lucy. After one evening of listening to her seductive voice, he's pulled under. But what about the vow he made to never get close to anyone again?

In a world where everyone has one true soul mate, can these two find love in the arms of each other?

Defining Destiny (Defining Destiny #1) by Deanna Chase
REVIEW
This had a unique premise. Marketed as paranormal romance though I'd say it was definitely more contemporary romance with a mystical element. The author built the story around the premise that fated mates aren't always what's best. Such an intriguing and unexplored concept added dimension to the story.

While the concept was unique, the actual story was just okay. The characters were all pretty solid though I vacillated on my appreciation for their choices, particularly Lucy. Ultimately, she redeemed herself in my eyes but I never came to like her which is important for me. I need to connect with the heroine on some level - you know, woman to woman.

Defining Destiny wrapped up nicely and left me satisfied with the ending.

Audiobook #REVIEW: The Governess and the Beast @KarynGerrard

The Governess and the Beast (Blind Cupid #2) by Karyn Gerrard is a Historical/BDSM/Erotic novella.
Hiding secrets and a past she longs to forget, Hortense Jennings answers an ad for a governess and embarks on an adventure she did not expect.

Concealed in a gothic, crumbling manor on the edge of a North Sea cliff, Baron Simon Wolstenholme is hiding from life. Horribly scarred from battle wounds, he lives up to his name “The Beast of Stonecliff” in both appearance and attitude until he realizes how lonely he has become.

Simon propositions Hortense for a singular night of passion. Raging weather and storms of anger clash between a lonely man and a distrustful woman to reveal secret desires in an emotional crescendo. Can the Governess and the Beast find calm amid the storm and admit their true feelings, or will pride destroy the fairy tale before it begins?

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
The Governess and the Beast is hot - hot - hot. The narrator's voice is melted sex and brings this already explicit story about the heated encounter -and ultimately beautiful story- between a scarred war hero and a lonely woman. Despite the setting being historical, the tale is one that could be set in any era. The audio version of this book amplifies every emotion rolling through the scenes.

Want a delicious read? Need to sink into something sexy? This book fits the description.

Forced to read this Friday...

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, ever since she had that terrifying nightmare. Piper doesn’t understand her dream, or why her boyfriend suddenly doesn’t recognize her. When a freak storm hits, unleashing strange creatures and whisking her, Jason, and Leo away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood, she has a feeling she’s going to find out.

Leo has a way with tools. When he sees his cabin at Camp Half-Blood, filled with power tools and machine parts, he feels right at home. But there’s weird stuff, too—like the curse everyone keeps talking about. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist that each of them—including Leo—is related to a god.

I titled today's blog forced to read this Friday because my daughter and her friends took advantage of my mythology nerdiness and I caved during the slumber party and picked it up and started reading it. As much as I'd like to tell my daughter and her friends that I really didn't enjoy this book it would be a lie. I totally connected with demi god Leo. I am certain at some point that my friends have said the words " You can't be trusted with matches and sharp objects". Leo also has a magic tool belt that I am very envious of (like Hermione's purse in book 7). I quote Leo " I have duct tape and breath mints. I can do anything" So very true Leo, so very true.

I give this book 4 chocolate dipped strawberries. And Piper....If I came upon an elevator in the sewer with a fancy M on the doors I'd think Macy's too.

PEACE

#REVIEW: Four Seconds To Lose @KathleenATucker

Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths #3) by K.A. Tucker... you won't want to stop reading
once you start... even for just four seconds.

When a gorgeous young dancer walks through his door, a strip club owner must decide whether to follow his rules or his heart in the third novel by the author of One Tiny Lie and Ten Tiny Breaths.

Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine-year-old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.

Twenty-two-year-old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her can't get distracted by romance.

Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, and that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her.
REVIEW
Four Seconds to Lose held me riveted. Aside from being a crazy hot romance, there were dangerous drug deals, the cartel, secret identities, and a more in-depth peek inside the world of strip clubs. The third installment of this series stepped the drama up a notch with the addition of those more dangerous elements. The uniqueness of this book also shows how the author allows each story to be led by the individualism of each character.

Nothing is as it seems in this book at first, except for the genuine bond that clicks between Charlie and Cain. Charlie’s story is gut-wrenching and made me want to hug the adolescent version of her so she'd feel real love and family. Then tack onto that the story of Cain’s tragic past and twisted at my heart. These two have truly taken lemons and made lemonade by the end as they find their peace in each other.

Another MUST READ by author KA Tucker.

Full Measures @RebeccaYarros Ultimate Indulgence #REVIEW @EPEmbrace

Full Measures by Rebecca Yarros is a new adult novel from Entangled's Embrace imprint.

Three knocks can change everything…

"She knew. That’s why Mom hadn’t opened the door. She knew he was dead."

Twenty years as an army brat and Ember Howard knew, too. The soldiers at the door meant her dad was never coming home. What she didn’t know was how she would find the strength to singlehandedly care for her crumbling family when her mom falls apart.

Then Josh Walker enters her life. Hockey star, her new next-door neighbor, and not to mention the most delicious hands that insist on saving her over and over again. He has a way of erasing the pain with a single look, a single touch. As much as she wants to turn off her feelings and endure the heartache on her own, she can’t deny their intense attraction.

Until Josh’s secret shatters their world. And Ember must decide if he’s worth the risk that comes with loving a man who could strip her bare.

REVIEW
Full Measures punched me in the gut within the first few pages. The initial impact was cushioned by a handsome man who has become one of my favorite heroes. This was such a tender love story surrounded by secrets and sorrow, strength and healing. It was so emotional that tears flowed during a few scenes and I didn't even care because I had to keep reading. I wanted to come to the end, to see how this family -and this girl- healed from their tragedy and moved forward.

One of the best parts of the book is that it felt authentic. There were no easy answers or perfect ending. It was just real, two people finding love through a tragedy which played a pivotal role in the story. The author vividly described the world of a military family. Readers feel as if they are standing at the funeral, listening to the twenty-one gun salute, feeling the family's anguish. My understanding for military families grew immensely as the author ensured that the details mattered.

And the author rung out every possible emotion using strong secondary characters with important roles. Nothing seemed to happen without a reason. Watching this family cope and grieve demonstrated just how individualistic the process of coming to terms with the loss of a loved one is. That's a powerful message. Readers will cheer the young heroine on as she works through the her grief during an already challenging time in her life.

I cannot recommend this enough, especially for readers who enjoy military romances. Though its not technically a military romance, the components are so similar. This goes on my favorites shelf.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
The Governess and the Beast takes the reader on an erotic jaunt to the 19th century.  A deeply sensual take on the classic tale, the scarred war hero and the reformed prostitute heal one another with one night of explosive passion.  The smooth and mellifluous reading provided by Audrey Lusk heightens the intensity of this short but steamy read.

Better Than Perfect #REVIEW @KristinaMathews

Better Than Perfect (More Than A Game #1) by Kristina Mathews is a home run.

The woman he left behind and the son he never knew are tougher opponents than any he’s met on the field...

Pitcher Johnny “The Monk” Scottsdale has won awards, been named an All-star and has a perfect game to his credit. Known for his legendary control both on and off the field, his pristine public image makes him the ideal person to work with youth players in a preseason minicamp. Except the camp is run by the one woman he can’t forget…the woman who made him a “monk.”

Alice Harrison’s three strikes include an unexpected pregnancy, a marriage of convenience and young widowhood. She once traded her dreams so Johnny could have a chance at making it to the Majors. Johnny comes back into her life just as she’s ready to resign as foundation director and pursue her own dreams of finally earning her teaching credential. Her plans may go on hold, though, depending on the reaction when she confesses she may have kept a major league secret from Johnny and her son.

With the minutes ticking by until Johnny will leave for spring training, they’ll need to let go of the past and work together in order to win the game of love...

REVIEW
With the perfect components of a romance, Better Than Perfect is a home run. The book has a hunky athletic hero, strong heroine, multi-dimensional story line, and a sweet kid. Nothing about the story is cookie-cutter. It's unique and interesting, keeping you guessing how it will turn out until the very end. The characters genuinely seem like good people you'd like to know. There's so much history and back story woven in, and elements of conflict that resolve themselves without becoming overly angsty. There is a bit much in the back and forth of emotion which might've been better smoothed out a bit - neither seems certain, unable to commit to a decision and move forward. Regardless, the ending makes it all better.

A good, solid book by debut author Kristina Mathews.

Loving Jay by Renae Kay @dreamspinners #REVIEW

Beautiful story of opposites attracting.

Loving Jay, Renae Kaye, DreamSpinner Press
One thing Liam Turner knows for sure is that he's not gay—after all, his father makes it very clear he’ll allow no son of his to be gay. And Liam believes it, until a chance meeting with James “Jay” Bell turns Liam’s world upside-down. Jay is vivacious and unabashedly gay—from the tips of his bleached hair to the ends of his polished nails. With a flair for fashion, overreaction, and an inability to cork his verbal diarrhea, Liam believes drama queen Jay must have a screw loose.

An accident as a teenager left Liam with a limp and a fear of driving. He can’t play football anymore either, and that makes him feel like less of a man. But that’s no reason to question his sexuality... unless the accident broke something else inside him. When being with Jay causes Liam’s protective instincts to emerge, Liam starts to believe all he knew in life had been a convenient excuse to stay hidden. From intolerance to confrontations, Liam must learn to overcome his fears—and his father—before he can accept his sexuality and truly love Jay.

Denial thy name is Liam. Poor Liam really had no clue. He knew he was attracted to Jay and lived for his morning commute for his chance to see the colorful man, but didn't know what to do from there. Being brought up with a parent that was not tolerant made it even harder for him.

Jay is one of those characters that just jumps off the pages and you can't help but love from the very beginning. I laughed out loud more than once when he would go off on his tangents and Liam would just stare at him.

Jay and Liam could not have been more different from their personalities to their upbringing but you could tell from the start that they just "fit". Seeing the relationship grow and progress made for an excellent read. Liam may have saved Jay physically but Jay saved Liam emotionally.

The families of both guys really added to the story line and created some of the more moving moments in the book. Their addition gave the book a very realistic feel that added depth, humor and drama.

This is a strong book from a first time author and I for one can't wait to see what other stories she has to tell.

Tales of the Harker Pack by @taralain @dreamspinners #REVIEW

Shifters, Mob Guys, Kidnappings and a Ninja Granny!

The Pack or the Panther, Tara Lain, Dreamspinner Press
Tales of the Harker Pack #1
Cole Harker, son of an alpha werewolf, is bigger and more powerful than most wolves, tongue-tied in groups, and gay. For twenty-four years, he’s lived to please his family and pack—even letting them promise him in marriage to female werewolf Analiese to secure a pack alliance and help save them from a powerful gangster who wants their land. Then Cole meets Analiese’s half-brother, panther shifter Paris Marketo, and for the first time, Cole wants something for himself.

When Analiese runs off to marry a human, Cole finally has a chance with Paris, but the solitary cat rejects him, the pack, and everything it represents. Then Cole discovers the gangster wants Paris too and won’t rest until he has him. What started as a land dispute turns into World War Wolf! But the bigger fight is the battle between cats and dogs.

REVIEW:
Cole is an Alpha werewolf and will be the next leader of his pack. If he can get over his fear of public speaking and convince everyone that he is strong enough to lead the pack even though he is gay. Most of the pack just tends to ignore the "gay" part of Cole except his best friend Lindsay...but then Lindsay has his own problems.

To make sure his pack is secure Cole agrees, begrudgingly, to an arranged marriage with the Alpha female from a neighboring pack. Then Cole meets Paris the son of the pack Alpha and the half brother of his betrothed. Once Cole sees the sexy, slinky cat Paris is all he can think about. Then Analiese skips out the day before the wedding and when the Alpha's decide that Cole can marry Paris to solidify the alliance you would think both men would be happy. But Cole doesn't want Paris out of obligation and Paris is a cat that just wants to roam no matter how much he is attracted to Cole.

You have to respect a character like Cole, in doing what was best for his pack he could have been giving up his chance for a true mate. I like my Alpha's tough but caring. I thought it was great the way that Paris could see Cole's trouble with speaking in public and was always there to intervene. Watching them play off each other in public was touching but when they came together in private....that was just HOT HOT HOT!

Great start to the series. I don't know how many books are planned but count me in for the ride!

Wolf in Gucci Loafers
Tales of the Harker Pack #2
Socialite Lindsey Vanessen wants someone to love who will love him back — an impossibility for a gay, half-human, half-werewolf. Too aggressive for humans, too gay for wolves, and needing to protect the pack from human discovery, Lindsey tries to content himself with life as a successful businessman. But when someone starts kidnapping members of wealthy families, Lindsey meets tough cop Seth Zakowsy—the hunky embodiment of everything Lindsey wants but can't have.

Seth has never been attracted to flamboyant men. What would the guys in the department think of Lindsey? But intrigue turns to lust when he discovers Lindsey’s biting, snarling passion more than matches his dominant side. It might mean a chance at love for a cop in black leather and a wolf in Gucci loafers.

REVIEW:
Most people look at Lindsay and immediately judge him as a helpless twink without a brain. Well, they couldn't be more wrong. Lindsay not only runs a multi-million dollar company but he is a black belt, champion fencer and oh yeah he just happens to be half werewolf. He also has a secret identity!

Seth is a leather wearing, motorcycle riding, no nonsense cop, who whether he likes it or not needs Lindsay's help with a case. He just needs Lindsay to get him into the inner circle of the wealthiest families, what he doesn't need is the attraction he has to the flamboyant man. The more time Seth spends with Lindsay the more his attraction and respect grows for the man, until Lindsay does something that jeopardizes the investigation.

I enjoyed reading about Seth and his inner turmoil with being attracted to a man like Lindsay. Watching him come full circle in his thought process was fun. but Lindsay's inner dialog trying to keep himself from "eating" Seth was hilarious! Jazz was a nice addition to the story line and I can't wait to read more about him after he grows up a bit more.

This was another great story in the Harker pack series. The author has created an interesting world with characters and stories that will draw you in and keep you coming back for more!

Double #REVIEWs: Meghan Quinn's Double Coverage #Sports #Romance Series

NEW RELEASE!
Double Coverage (Love and Sports #2) by Meghan Quinn

Unfortunate inconvenience, that is the way Piper describes her encounter with Mason Dashel. From the minute the alpha male interrupts her morning after hangover on the airplane, she can’t stand to be near the egotistical maniac with a booming voice and annoying sex appeal. But to her misfortune she finds herself not only having to spend time with him at their best friends’ wedding but she also can’t seem to shake the infuriating man in her everyday life.

Psychotic Una-bomber with the constant mensies is the way Mason describes his flying companion, Piper Shores. After a horrific break up with his now ex, Brooke, he finds himself being engulfed by the temperamental red head that just so happens to be the maid of honor to one of his best friends, Lexi. Even though she grates on his every nerve, he can’t help but want a piece of her.

The two are like oil and water, a science experiment ready to explode any second but they can’t help but be drawn to each other. The only problem is… there are other people they are involved with who not only prevent Mason and Piper from being together, but interrupt any chance they have at making a relationship work.

Double Coverage REVIEW
I was so ready to read Double Coverage after finishing Fair Catch. The Epilogue in book one leaves readers hanging and desperate for Mason and Brooke's story. Until that moment, readers think they have such a nice and stable relationship. So I'm grateful I didn't have to wait... bragging... I had the ARC to read immediately!

Double Coverage kicks up the angst -right, as if I even thought that was possible- and follows some of the characters that readers met in the first book while adding on new characters. Quinn's writing explodes in this book. It's more robust and colorful, and while I wanted to scream at times, I found myself immersed in the story far more than in book one.

Looking forward to the possibility of more from Quinn and her athletes!

Fair Catch (Love and Sports #1) by Meghan Quinn
Training, playing ball and studying is Lexi’s life and it never seems to bother her until her friend, Parker Hill, points out to her that sweat pants on a Friday night while watching sappy romance movies isn’t really living up her last year in college. Lexi didn’t see the need to party since she didn’t know what the hell she was doing with her life after college but her friends wouldn’t take no for an answer. Little did she know going to the first party of the season was going to flip her world upside down.

Jake Taylor, starting quarterback for Cal U and campus heart throb spent his entire college career, partying, getting drunk and winning football games but it is all finally catching up to him. He is ready to throw in the towel of his partying days when he decides to have one more last fling. That is when he runs into the one person that could turn his life inside out.

Lexi wants nothing to do with Jake and his partying ways but after one bet gone wrong , she finds herself on a date with the annoyingly obnoxious, egotistical heart throb. Even though she wants nothing to do with him, she finds herself gravitating toward him and giving into his charm. They fall hard and fast for each other as they find love, comfort and a home. They live in their own littler world where nothing matters besides the love they share for each other.

But love isn’t enough for Lexi when she is trying to find her way after college. She slowly sinks into Jake’s shadow and finds herself clawing out of the Jake sized hole she buried herself in so she can find who she is, who she wants to be and what her future holds for her.

Fair Catch is a true love story that goes through the trials and tribulations of Jake and Lexi’s insecurities, jealousies, short comings and strong personalities. Love is one hell of a strong bond but sometimes, it’s not strong enough. Follow Jake and Lexi as they try to hold on to the love they share while they try to find themselves and find out what life is after graduation.

Fair Catch REVIEW
Fair warning... this is one crazy roller coaster of a story. And like any good roller coaster, it ends with satisfaction. There's more angst than can be bottled and there's also side stories with two other couples. Readers will like the characters, despite finding some of their behavior annoying. Hey, they are only college students so they're supposed to make mistakes. The author definitely hit the mark on that.

There was some repetition that could've nicely been cut by a more aggressive editor BUT if you skim some of those sections, you'll enjoy the story of Jake and Lexi because they are both athletes, both successful and both trying to find someone to call family. It's a beautiful story of young love.

About The Author
When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.

It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Final Frost Friday @Jennifer_Estep

Killer Frost by Jennifer Estep
I’ve battled the Reapers of Chaos before—and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it’s going to be a fight to the death…most likely mine.

Yeah, I’ve got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic, and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side in Logan freaking Quinn, but I’m no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike’s Champion, but at heart, I’m still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good…or I am.

As much as I hate it this was the last Mythos book:( I wanted to read it slowly because I knew this was it but it was impossible to do. We all know the gods and goddesses speak in riddles and are completely useless as they use us mortals to do their dirty work. It was no different for Gwen and her crew. They had lots of clues but no idea what they meant but Jennifer wrapped everything up beautifully and I have no complaints except there are no more books.

I give this book 5 chocolate strawberries and a standing ovation.

#REVIEW Tour: Choosing You @AuthorAllie @XpressoTours

Choosing You by Allie Everhart
The Jade Series, Book 1

Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance
Publication date: September 23rd 2013

When Jade is given a scholarship to an elite private college in Connecticut, she sees it as a chance to finally escape her painful past and get a fresh start. She’s determined to succeed and that means keeping her focus on school and not guys. But her plan falls apart her first day on campus when Garret, a rich prep school boy with swimmer abs and a perfect smile, offers to help her move in.

Jade tries to push him away, but she can’t deny her attraction to him and Garret won’t let her. Things quickly heat up between them, but then come to a sudden halt when reality hits and Jade realizes that a relationship with Garret may never be possible. He comes from a world of wealth where there are rules, including rules about who he can date. And not following those rules has consequences.

As the two of them try to overcome the obstacles working to keep them apart, Jade is confronted with another challenge. On her 19th birthday, she receives a letter that her now deceased mother wrote years ago. In it are revelations that explain her traumatic childhood but also make her question the past she’s been running from.

Full Series Description
The Jade Series is a New Adult Romance that follows the relationship of Jade and Garret in their first year of college. In Choosing You, (book 1), Jade and Garret meet on Jade’s first night at Moorhurst College and despite their strong attraction to each other, they’re not allowed to date because of the strict rules that control Garret’s life. In Knowing You, (book 2), Garret breaks the family rules and begins dating Jade. Their relationship grows deeper but issues from Jade’s past complicate matters. Loving You (book 3) shows Jade and Garret growing closer as a couple but also hints at the trouble that lies ahead in Promising You (book 4), in which a new challenge emerges for Garret that could interfere with the future he wants with Jade. Originally, book 4 was the end of the series, but fans wanted to read more about Jade and Garret, so Allie is now in the process of writing Forever You, an all-new, full-length follow-up book to The Jade Series releasing later this spring!

REVIEW
In a genre when all books are beginning to blend together, Everhart offers a unique love story. It still holds the components New Adult fans crave -you know, that angst- but Jade and Garret are something all their own. The subtle mystery surrounding them drives the story line, keeping readers curious about the true backgrounds while glimpses are gradually shared throughout the book.

There are some lulls in the flow where readers spend time inside Jade's head but there's a lot of important things going on up there. While it may have been possible presenting these facts differently, it doesn't necessarily take away from the story. It simply slows down the story while readers immerse themselves in Jade's psyche.

Choosing You is a good read. I will most definitely choose to read this whole series.
