Publisher: Wild Child Publishing    .
Length:   novel
Sub-Genres:  Light Romance, Paranormal Thriller

BLURB:
When a new hieroglyphic alphabet is discovered on an ancient Egyptian scroll, expert archaeologist Joslyn Wetherly is called in to decipher it. Joslyn is obsessed with the scroll, and that obsession threatens her marriage.

But soon her life is threatened as the secrets of the scroll prove dangerous. Before Joslyn realizes what is happening, she is embroiled in a rivalry between two long-dead pharaohs, their Egyptian gods, and past life karmas.

Will Joslyn survive the secrets revealed in the scroll? Or will she be the next victim of the ancient feud?

EXCERPT:
Joslyn shivered in the oppressive, summer heat. The taxi, an old Mercedes, conveyed Sam and her to the university. It darted in and out of traffic, narrowly missing pedestrians and other vehicles on the packed roads. Her stomach churned as she clutched the safety strap.
When she’d come to Egypt for her thesis, its exotic culture, people and energy had enthralled her. The massive entrance building to Cairo University, with its white marble dome and beautiful Arabic architecture, never failed to humble her. It bespoke a veneration of learning seldom seen in the West. But the looming university’s white marble façade looked soiled from smog at a distance, and a mantle of foreboding settled over her.
Sam leaned forward, pointing to the entrance steps. “Right here.”
The taxi bumped up the curb and stopped partly in the walkway. Mistrusting, black eyes flicked over Joslyn’s blond hair before focusing on Sam. In heavily accented English, the driver demanded, “Forty pounds.”
“But you said thirty at the hotel,” Joslyn protested.
The man shrugged and smiled. “Forty pounds.”
“But....”
Sam cut her off. “Here.”
They climbed out of the taxi and started up the steps with Joslyn still objecting, “Sam, he said thirty.”

“So he did, but ten pounds is less than three dollars. Besides, I’d rather not waste time in an argument that wouldn’t have changed his mind.”
In companionable silence, Sam and Joslyn entered the university. The huge, marble columns beckoned. She wanted to lean against one and absorb its soothing coolness. Instead, she turned to Sam.
“Why meet here? I thought you and Dr. Yousef were friends.”
“We are, but Ali thought you might feel more comfortable in a more formal setting than his house...at least for the first meeting.”
“I don’t foresee us needing a second, Sam.”
“You never know.”
She studied him, not trusting his enigmatic reply. “Sam....”
“Ah, there you are, Sam.” A beautifully modulated voice broke in using perfect English. “And you must be the Miss Wetherly that Sam talks so much about.” Keen, dark eyes swept over her in an appraising manner. “It is a pleasure to meet such a lovely colleague.”
He said the words with such honesty she couldn’t take offense. “Thank you, Dr. Yousef.”
“Please call me Ali, and I will call you Joslyn. We do not stand on ceremony here, do we, Sam?”
“No, we don’t.”
“Now that we have that out of the way, why don’t we adjourn to my office so we can begin. Do you have the scroll?”
“Yes, of course,” Joslyn replied. She had to lengthen her stride to keep up with his quick pace.
“Have you been to Cairo before?”
“Yes. I came here for six months while I finished my Master’s thesis.”
“I don’t remember you.”
“You were on sabbatical that semester.”
“Ah.” Ali turned to Sam. “How long will you be staying?”
Sam glanced surreptitiously at Joslyn before answering. “A few days.”
“A few days?” Ali looked at Sam.
“Unless we have to stay a little longer.”
Joslyn eyed the two men. An undercurrent ran between them. Sam wasn’t telling her everything, but she couldn’t decipher his reasons for withholding any information. Any questions would have to wait until they returned to the hotel, if she read Sam right. “Well, I am expected back on Friday, but I will do everything I can to see that this is completed by then.”
“Here we are.” Ali held the door open for them to enter.
Bookcases covered nearly every inch of wall space. Books and journals filled approximately half of the shelves. She recognized most of the titles. Many were Ali’s, but there were a few by other noted Egyptologists. A large number of the archeological journals had reputations for publishing his work. The other half of the bookcase held translations of ancient scrolls. Having spent hours of research pouring over such documents, Joslyn knew with a glance which translation belonged to which Egyptologist. Again, he had a mixture of his and other experts’, including herself. He had placed a few artifacts in precise positions that displayed them to their best advantage. And the replica of.... A replica? She moved closer to get a better look.
“Ah, I see you have caught me.” A smile warmed his voice. His proximity unnerved her. Reaching around her, he gently picked up the miniature, gold Tutankhamen mask. “Yes, it is an original. It was a ‘gift’ from the government. I only hold it in stewardship.” Abruptly, he replaced it and moved away, taking a seat behind his desk. “Come. Sit. Show me the scroll.”
Reverently, Joslyn removed the scroll from its protective waterproof container and laid it out on Ali’s massive, mahogany desk. They leaned closer to examine the ancient papyrus. The sunlight pouring in from the tall window behind them cast an ethereal glow on the scroll. Before her stunned gaze, the scroll gathered the sunlight into the hieroglyphs. The faded ink lines emitted the luminous, golden radiance of the sun. With each passing second, the light grew brighter. A whirring sound, like the flapping wings of thousands of ibises rising from the Nile, crescendoed to a deafening roar. With a loud clap, the roar softened to a hum that faded away to absolute silence. Golden points of light danced around Joslyn like a halo in a mystical painting, as if she was touched by the gods.
Everything melded into one, then split into tiny molecules that bounced and cavorted in the sparkling light. It seemed to have a will of its own, swirling as if in a kaleidoscope. Joslyn tottered and struggled to remain erect. Gripping the table, she blinked several times, futilely trying to clear her vision. The light coalesced into recognizable objects, and her legs collapsed. She clawed at the table as she slipped to the floor under the weight of nearly 4,000 years of waiting. Unable to move and terrified, she watched in fascinated horror while a gold mask materialized above her and floated down to lightly rest upon her face. The mask seeped into her pores, and a surge of energy jolted through her. Her body convulsed with the impact. It was then that she knew Hatchepsut had joined them.
“Joslyn?”
Sam’s voice barely penetrated the haze surrounding Joslyn’s consciousness. His face swam in front of her. She attempted to respond, but her lips wouldn’t move. Again, she tried. Nothing happened. She felt pasted to the floor for a split second, and then her soul slipped free to hover just below the ceiling. The silver strand of energy seemed far too fragile to keep her displaced soul attached to her possessed body. In disbelief, she watched the scene unfold.
“Joslyn?” Sam crouched down next to her.
“I am Maatkare.” The thready whisper of ancient Egyptian slithered past Joslyn’s lips.
“But there was only one Maatkare...Hatchepsut.” Ali’s eyebrows rose. “Sam, what is this—hocus pocus?”
With a jerk, her body stood and faced Ali. A fiery, angry, orange circle formed around her, pulsing. Heavily accented English grated out. “You doubt me?”
Both men physically flinched. The voice sounded like sandpaper on metal.
“I....” Ali scrambled in retreat.
“So, you are an unbeliever.” Scornful eyes raked Ali’s slim frame. “Perhaps the gods were mistaken.”
Ali visibly trembled under Hatchepsut’s menacing glare. “N-no. I am the one you seek.”
“Then prostrate yourself before your pharaoh.” Hatchepsut turned chilly eyes to Sam. One eyebrow raised in question.
“I am American. We don’t have a pharaoh.”
Her nostrils twitched in irritation.
He quickly added, “But I didn’t say that I didn’t believe you.”
Her gaze flicked back to Ali. “Up. Show me the scroll.”
Ali pointed to the desk.
Hatchepsut caressed the papyrus. A small smile flickered on her face, lighting it with affection before she returned her gaze to the quaking Ali. “Merit will translate this for you tomorrow. Listen carefully.” With a sigh, Hatchepsut left Joslyn’s body.
Joslyn’s soul snapped back into her body, and she slumped over the desk, exhausted. Painfully lifting herself from the table, she said, “Sam…can we return to the hotel now, please?”

Doris O'Connor's Club Ink Series is burning hot and deliciously indulgent. Though I could have gone for a larger taste...

Matched to exploration facilitator Ink, Estelle explores her submissive fantasies to the full. When online sex turns into a real life ménage, will a case of mistaken identity ruin her chances with Nathan?

Or will the shifter claim his mate?

TIGER SCARS
Club Ink, Book Two

Can some scars ever truly heal?

Cherie ran away from Ink once. She is not going to get the chance to do so again. But helping her heal will take all of Ink's skills as a Dom. Using Shibari, knife play, and ménage sex, he shows her that pleasure can be found in the things that haunt her.

Emotionally and physically scarred, Cherie has sought refuge at Club Ink, where she keeps everyone at arm's length. When Ink forces her to face her demons, does her submission hold the key to her future happiness? Or will their shared past destroy them once and for all?

REVIEW:
Both of O'Connor's Club Ink books are erotically delicious. What could be hotter? She has all the elements... sexy shape shifting alpha hero Doms... holy hell! Then add in the women who fall for them. The heroines have backbones, strength to overcome obstacles but that tender need to submit to their men. Some of the scenes made my toes curl and I may have even blushed once or twice. If the characters aren't enough, the plots in each book draw you in so readers actually care what happens. Nothing is necessarily what it first seems to be at Club Ink. Grab a copy and see what I mean!

Fan Girl Friday

Another week has come and gone and it moves us closer to Fall:( I really shouldn't complain it puts me closer to my favorite holiday Halloween. Kids and I already have our costumes ready to go. I will be putting the decorations up this weekend also. Time to start planning the Halloween dinner menus as well. Feels like just the other week it was vacation time. But the calender says differently. It says we're almost 1/2 way thru soccer season and football. Next thing we know it will be November, I can't believe I thought that out loud! Guess I need to consolidate my Fall reading list into blog from instead of a pile of post it notes and bookmarks. This week was a special treat.......

Heaven knows—all’s fair in love and war…

Oh happy day! It's been Angie Fox  week here on the blog. And everyone know how I love me some Angie Fox. I have had the opportunity to go all fan girl on her like twice and have successfully screwed it up. Either wasn't paying attention and she passed right by me, too much beverage and the list goes on and on. It's not like she'd recognize me because every time I see her i have some odd colored hair like pink and a crazy costume. The woman hasn't written a bad thing yet. I LOVE the Demon Slayer series. In fact if you recall Dimitri is my my fictional boyfriend. I always have trouble getting into a new series from my favorite authors because I compare the two and keep waiting for my favorite characters to show up and make an appearance. I'll admit that I was listening for the motorcycle witches to to come rolling in. But this is a completely different animal. It's got a little bit of everything for everybody. You certainly will want to add this to you Fall/that season that comes after Fall reading list.

I give this book 4 chocolate dipped strawberries and a copy of one of my Demon Slayer books so Angie can sign it for me:)
PEACE

Not all good things must end... Angie Fox's Immortally Yours, Book one MASH series

This is the fourth review this week for Immortally Yours. Since it was this month's Book Club Selection, we each read it and give you our take on the book. I can definitely see where our personalities and preferences came out this time on how we enjoyed the book. We each liked it but had very different experiences with it. So with no further ado, here's my review...

Angie Fox pulled me in from the start with this engaging story. I did feel the stop and start a few times as the scenes didn't seem to flow along for me seamlessly but I was engaged in the characters. I found myself nearly enjoying the secondary characters more than Petra and Galen but I suspect I'll be reading the next book in the series and will see them again so that's a good thing. There was definitely much humor which is a take-it-or-leave-it for me (I'm the more serious one in our group) but what seemed lacking to me was the romance (I'm also the one in the group that leans most heavily on the romance). The author has started out a new series that I look forward to reading more of.

Angie Fox is in the House! Giveaway!

Raise your hands in the air...like you just don't care!  Woot! Woot! If you are doing this at work and your colleagues are giving you strange looks - you let them know it's Humpday and you are doing your booty dance of ownage!  That's right!  We are proud to host Angie Fox this week - her Immortally Yours was our bookclub choice for September.  I have to say, I adore Ms. Angie's writing style - it's fresh, funny, a little rambling stream of consciousness with a whole lot of wacky, and really great characters to keep things lively. Her Accidental Demon Slayers series rocks - it has Kim and I scrapping for who gets dibs on Dimitri (she usually wins cause she plays dirty like those granny biker witches!) and remains on my permanent keeper shelf, although more often than not, it's on loan to a friend or co-worker!  I enjoyed this new series and look forward to more installments in the MASH paranormal army world!  Check out this awesome blog from the diva herself and COMMENT for entry for giveaway - who doesn't love free goodies?????

Angie Fox Guest Blog and Giveaway

Immortally Yours, Angie Fox, St. Martens Mass Market Paperback

Thanks for having Immortally Yours as the September book club read. This is the first book in a new series about a group of paranormal MASH surgeons. The hero a tough-as-nails wounded warrior and the heroine is the doctor who saves him (in more ways than one).

It’s a very character-driven book. And Dr. Petra Robichaud is one of the strongest heroines I’ve ever written. She’s stubborn, independent and used to being on her own. She’s also dealing with her own personal tragedy. Petra is a thoracic surgeon who has been drafted out of her practice in New Orleans and into the middle of this great paranormal war. Enlistments run until the end of the conflict, which for her will be a life sentence. Still, she manages to keep her dry sense of humor and she’s even created a new family, of sorts, among her colleagues at the MASH 3063rd.

The only thing she’s not prepared to deal with, it seems, is the hero, who bursts onto the scene first as a critical patient on her operating table and then as the only man who knows her secret ability. He discovers it while she’s saving his life. Unfortunately, her secret ability is forbidden by the gods and could get her killed – or worse. She’s survived so far by keeping her head down and now Galen is threatening that.

But he isn’t interested in hiding. Galen is a hardened special ops soldier, who has risked everything time and time again. He’s focused on his duty and determined to bring an end to the war. Petra and her ability will give him a means to do it. He’s not just an alpha, though. He’s very charismatic. And either by charm or by force, Galen will bring her onto his side. He needs to convince Petra that a) she can make a difference and b) she needs to trust him enough to risk eternal damnation. I mean really, it’s hard to talk a girl into that. But Galen isn’t one to give up. And like they say, all’s fair in love and war.

Immortally Yours is a bit of a departure from the books I’ve written before. It has more of an edge. One of the challenges – and the great joys – of writing it was balancing the humor with the stark tragedy of war. In fact, I remember calling my critique partner about a week after I’d sold the book and asking her, “What did I just do? I sold a book about an immortal war. I write funny. How am I supposed to pull this off?”

But you know what? It worked out. I realized that the underlying drama of war could serve to bring the oddball personalities in the MASH camp together. These doctors and nurses don’t have much, but they do manage to find ways to save their sanity and create the kind of relationships that offer a port in the storm.

Then there’s PNN (The Paranormal News Network) that covers the war. It’s the supernatural version of CNN. I loved writing PNN because it let me explore my own love/hate relationship with sensationalistic 24-hour news.

In fact, I had so much fun that I’ve developed www.PNN-Network.com It’s the official website for PNN, and I set it up to be a bit like a paranormal version of The Onion – with articles like, “Mayan Insider Scoop! Developed Armageddon “Prophecy” After Tequila Bender,” and “Sit, Sit, SIT! – Tips for Training Your Hell Hound.”

I figure it gives readers a taste of the series. And okay, the real reason I did it is because I had a blast coming up with my own take on paranormal news.

Feel free to check out the site, and ask me any questions about Immortally Yours. I’m glad to be here!

Oh, and Jenn asked: What is my Guilty Indulgence?

It’s those mornings when I don’t “officially” get out of bed until noon because I’m lounging around with a book. Ahh…makes me happy just to think about it.

So I am a mythology freak and when I read the premise of this book I was super excited. Angie Fox is one of those authors that writes really funny, inventive character's and I couldn't wait to see which direction she was going to take this series.

The story it's self is good and I liked the two main character's, especially Galen. He was strong, loyal, supportive, protective and DAMN the man was good at the sexing, everything you want in your Alpha hero's. I liked Petra but her angst kind of got on my nerves a bit and the girl just didn't know when to keep her mouth shut. The scene in the tent the first time gave me blue balls! LOL

I think my favorite part of this book was the strong and varied cast of secondary character's, everything from  vampires to werewolves to dinosaur swamp creatures that apparently reproduce like bunnies. I very much had a "Trouble with Tribbles" moment with all the little creatures in the foot lockers. If you are old like me and remember the series M*A*S*H then this book will bring back a lot of those memories and feelings.

The problem I had was getting into the flow of this book. It had a very dis-jointed feel for me. I kept feeling like I had missed something and would read sections over again and certain sections still didn't work for me. I enjoyed the world-building and and the character's and hope the next book is a smoother read for me because I definitely want to know what happens next.

RATING: 3 1/2 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.

So on to the review.  First I apologize for taking the easy road of including Ms. Fox’s book blurb and not writing up my take on the book’s story-bio.  I’m hoping that if you read her take on it then you will want to read the book.  My take on it is unfortunately just so-so.  Sorry to all the Angie Fox fans out there – I’m sure you are all cringing just from that one statement alone.  So let me elaborate.  The book has a really great premise and likeable characters.  I just had a really hard time getting into the story.  I’m not sure if it was that it is the first in the series, or that I have not read one of her books before or if it was due to the fact that I had to start it and then come back to it due to other books that I had to squeeze in for our feature last week – although I don’t think that was it since I did start over again at the beginning.  I thought her twist on the world was interesting and the characters were strong and well developed.   The plot was also well thought out.  My problem was that there were several scenes where I felt like I was standing off stage at a play – hearing the dialogue but missing all of the visual cues of seeing the background, props, facial expressions, body language, etc.  This lack of depth just left me feeling like I couldn’t really get “into” the story.  Having said that I do think that fans of her writing will probably enjoy this newest story.  Like I mentioned, overall it is a good story and the beginning of a series that shows great promise.  Please be sure to come back throughout the week to read other takes on this series.   Overall, I would say this story is worth giving it a shot if the blurb sounded interesting to you.

The Perfect Blog Tour with Kallypso Masters

Welcome to Day 6 of the Perfect Blog Tour with Kallypso Masters and friends.

Thank you, Guilty Indulgence, for hosting me!

This six-day Perfect Blog Tour celebrates the release of Nobody's Perfect (Rescue Me #4), by Kallypso Masters, which released this week—FINALLY! Perfect continues the long-awaited Happily Ever After for probably the two most wounded characters in the series, Damian Orlando and Savannah Gentry (now Savi Baker). Their heartbreaking story began in Masters at Arms (a free read—see links below) and the couple reunited in Nobody's Hero after eight years apart.

Those who follow me on Facebook know that, as an incest and child sexual abuse survivor myself, this book was akin to opening a vein and pouring my lifeblood onto the page. I usually take 2-3 months to write and edit a book in this series (tops). This one took nearly eight months! The result is not an autobiographical story, but my fellow survivors will come face to face with a lot of the same triggers and aftermath we all suffer as a result of our abuse.

Many of the people who helped me get the BDSM, psychology, and other aspects of this story right also are survivors of abuse, or live the lifestyle and work with survivors using BDSM for healing. This Perfect Blog Tour kicks off with the personal reflections of Ekatarina "Saya" Sayanova, who served first as a subject expert (BDSM and medical expertise), then a beta reader, and finally an editor. While reading the whipping by catharsis scene you'll be reading over the course of Days 2-6 in this tour, she was drawn into the scene almost as if she were a participant—at one point, Damián, and then Patti, the bottom he is working with in the scene.

In this Excerpt blog tour, you will be reading from a single scene, Chapters 10-11 of the book. In this scene, Damián (sometimes called Damo) is called upon to be a Service Top to Patti, a slave/masochist at the Masters at Arms Club whose Master (Victor) isn't a sadist and is unable to give her the level of catharsis through whipping she needs to work through a severe trigger that shut her down emotionally earlier that day. This happens to be the first time in months that Damian has been in the club—and is the first time ever for Savi, who was invited here by Adam, who plays a role in helping Savi to understand the purpose of a cathartic whipping—and why Damian is the one to provide that.

** If you are just joining us, you are going to want to take a look at the first five stops in tour to get caught up on what is going on. The links are below.

EXCERPT #5

NOTE: Yesterday's excerpt ended at a scene break the night before the continuation of the story. Just didn't want to jar you, since you can't see the * * * tipoff.

Savi had no clue how she'd wound up back in the club again the next morning, soon after dropping Mari off at school.
"Which is your dominant hand, Savi?"
Savi swallowed, looking up at Adam who held a menacing bundle of olive-green rope in his hand. "My right."
"Okay, I'm going to restrain your left hand and arm first. You'll still have use of your right one for a while. You still have some control, if you feel the need for it, until you get used to the restraints—and me."
She could inflict a lot more damage with her feet and legs than with her hands anyway, but couldn't help herself from pointing out the obvious. "Like fighting with one hand tied behind my back?"
Adam grinned. "One hand tied at your side, actually." He tweaked her nose as if she were a kid, similar to what Damián had done last week. "Trust me, little one. You aren't going to need to fight me off. Remember what we talked about? I'm just going to work on decreasing your fear threshold. Starting now. Deep breath."
She forced herself to draw a slow, deep breath. No point trying to deny it. He had to know she was scared to death.
So, why was she even considering letting him do this to her?
Because she needed to get past her fear of being restrained before she'd ever be able to experience what Patti had with Damián last night. Damián had told her once that being restrained actually would make her feel freer. Dear lord, she hoped so.
"Okay, I'm ready." Sweat broke out on her upper lip. Savi steeled herself for the terror to come.
Adam chuckled. "No, you aren't. I think you need reinforcements. Wait here."
Where would she go? Her legs had turned to mush. Maybe she wouldn't be able to protect herself, after all. A knot formed in the pit of her stomach. She watched Adam walk toward the hallway leading to the kitchen, remembering back to Christmas Day when she'd nearly opened the other door to this room, with Mari in tow. Thank God they had kept the doors to the club locked. She didn't blame Karla and Adam for house hunting. This was no place to raise a child. Savi appreciated how carefully they had shielded Mari from the club and its members last night, though.
As she waited, she wondered what kind of reinforcements he had in mind. She really just wanted to get this over with before she could work herself into a full-blown panic attack, Adam came back into the great room with Damián and Karla following close behind him. Seeing Damián again caused the knot in her stomach to flip-flop to life. He wore his black leathers and a black Harley Davidson leather vest. No shirt. The tail of the dragon tattoo snaked down his bicep and arm, and she remembered how he'd made the dragon's mouth on his pectoral move when she'd first seen the tat.
Her face grew warm. Damián didn't approach her. Instead, he came to a standstill a few feet away. Surprisingly, she wished he would take her in his arms again. She'd missed him so much.
Now where had that impossible wish come from?
He grinned at her, but she sensed he was a bit nervous, too, by the way he clenched and unclenched his jaw. "Dad tells me you might need a little encouragement."
There was no censure in his voice for not letting him be the one to introduce restraints to her. She wasn't sure how much Damián could help, but his presence did relax her a little bit. She trusted Damián to make doubly sure nothing happened that she didn't want to happen. Karla, too.
But was he disappointed that she hadn't asked him to do this? He'd left the club almost immediately after the scene with Patti. In her need to find out whether she could be restrained, Savi had turned last night to Adam and Karla for help, but it had gotten late. She needed to get back upstairs to Mari. Savi had tossed in bed all night, worrying about what she'd agreed to let Adam do.
Karla stepped up to her side and whispered in her ear, "Remember what I told you last night about my first time in rope bondage?" Savi nodded. "Good. Just relax and give into the rope. It's an incredible feeling."
"I feel silly needing so many people to do a simple arm restraint."
Karla stroked her upper arm. "Oh, Savi, for my first time, I had Adam, Marc, Angelina, and Luke all there with me."
Adam's large hand reached out and stroked Karla's expanding tummy. "I was the one who was scared shitless that time. Either you or Angelina roped me into that scene. I still haven’t figured out who the guilty party was."
Karla looked up at Adam and smiled innocently, the love on her face so apparent. Savi's gaze went again to his hand on her belly. Lucky woman. Karla would have Adam by her side when she gave birth. Savi wished… She glanced at Damián.
No. Don't even go there.
Savi might not have had Mari's father at her birth, but she'd done fine without him. Anita had been an excellent coach. The woman had four kids of her own.
Adam kissed Karla on the lips. With obvious regret, Karla broke off the kiss and turned her attention back to Savi. "Sorry." She blushed. "Where were we? Oh, yeah. Well, I trusted Adam to never do anything to hurt me when I let him tie me up that first time. But we'd known each other for nine years by then." Karla touched Savi's forearm. "You can trust him, too. He's a master at Shibari and a completely honorable man."
Intellectually, Savi thought she could trust them all, but connecting what her mind thought with what her body felt wasn’t going to be easy. The fears of the past prohibited her from trusting anyone emotionally, but she was tired of living in fear all the time. Holding her chin up, Savi took a deep breath and released it slowly. "I'm ready."
Damián took up a spot an arm's length in front of her and Karla stood beside Adam, who began to unwrap the bundle of rope.
"Eyes on me, Savita."
Savi's gaze was drawn to Damián's face. He smiled and took a step closer, invading her personal space. Her heartbeat tripped, then kicked up a notch, beating wildly. Damián's hands reached out and he stroked her shoulders and upper arms, having a surprisingly calming effect on her. Adam lifted her left elbow and positioned her hand in the air at a ninety-degree angle, as if she were waving to someone in the distance. Quickly, he looped three knots around her three fingers, leaving only the thumb and pinkie free.
Here we go.
"Breathe, querida."
Damián took a breath as well and Savi mimicked him by drawing in a deep one of her own. Adam drew her hand back, nearer to her shoulder joint.
Damián's hand stroked the underside of her arm. "You have such soft, beautiful skin."
The touch of his warm fingers set forth an outbreak of gooseflesh, followed by warning bells. When her nipples hardened, she reached with her free hand to cover her chest, but he entwined his fingers in hers and returned her hand to her side.
"Breathe, Savita."
She squirmed in discomfort, then did as he'd reminded her. At least he didn't point out her body's traitorous betrayal—or take advantage of her.
Adam's voice brought her back into the scene. "This technique is called the claw." He wrapped the rope close to her armpit, pulling her wrist closer to her upper arm. Her fingers curled into a claw-like pose. "Let me know immediately if the ropes get too tight or you feel any tingling or coldness anywhere."
Well, her skin was tingling, but not from the rope. Adam's concern for her comfort helped her relax a bit more. She nodded.
Karla whispered in her ear, "It's best that you give him verbal responses and address him as Sir. Good practice for when you come back to play in the club."
Savi certainly didn't feel comfortable calling Adam "Sir," so she just said, "Yes, I understand."
Adam grinned at her blatant omission, but went to work. One end of the rope began to fly as Adam looped it under and around her forearm and upper arm more quickly. Savi flexed her fingers and tried to move her hand to see how much mobility she had left.
"Are you in any discomfort?"
Adam's question stilled her movements. He seemed so attuned to her. "No. I'm fine." She continued to resist calling him Sir. The gentle tug of the rope began to relax her, but she wasn't worried about fighting them off, if she needed to. She still had a free hand and two unrestrained legs, but they had done a very good job of making her feel calm rather than threatened. Maybe Karla's presence helped, too.
Adam continued to tie the rope, then pulled the end through once more and gave it a tug. He dropped his hands to his sides and came to stand beside Damián, but his gaze remained on her. "How are you doing, hon?"
"Okay…Sir." Now where had that come from? The man somehow just commanded respect.
"Good girl."
The beginnings of panic clawed at her throat. Hearing the words from Adam didn't have the same effect as when Damián had said them to Patti.
Damián seemed to be aware of her distress and stepped even closer. His body brushed against hers and he locked gazes with her, grounding her. "Deep breath, Savi." He wrapped his arms around her and stroked her back through her T-shirt as he turned to explain to Adam that those words were a trigger.
Damián seemed a little upset, but she quickly realized he wasn't angry with her. Being held so securely, she was surprised to find her body relaxing against him.
"Fuck. I'm sorry, hon. Damián told me about your triggers and I'm just so used to saying that to Karla and the other subs, I forgot."
Savi didn't want to upset Adam. "It's okay."
"No, it's not. A Dom needs to consider everything that might go down in a scene before he starts—and definitely needs to remember a sub's known triggers. You have my sincerest apology."
Damián pulled back and glared at Adam, still displeased with him. She didn't want to come between these two.
"It's not Adam's fault. It's just two silly words, really. I shouldn't let them bother me."
Damián turned his focus back to her and brushed a loose strand of hair from her forehead. "Anything that has that kind of effect on you isn't silly. Don't negate your feelings. If you feel something, own it."
Validate your feelings. How many textbooks had she read that in, and yet she'd spent a lifetime tamping down her feelings. Of course, she wasn't going to change that mindset in one evening. Damián seemed to sense that and just took her in his arms again. Her eyes began to burn. She'd never had any man other than maybe Father Martine consider her feelings to be all that important. It was comforting…and made her want to cry, for some reason. Not that she could. She never cried.
Savi resisted the urge to lay her head against his shoulder. She let him continue to stroke her back. So gentle. Memories of how he'd touched her in the beach cave flitted around the edges of her brain, but she pushed them away. Those images were too painful, knowing she could never have that with him again.
For now, though, she was content to just feel safe in Damián's arms.
An amazingly safe place to be.
Well, that’s it for this tour. Thank you everyone who stopped by, I hope you enjoyed the excerpt.

For those new to the Rescue Me series, the intensely emotional stories will have you laughing, crying, screaming, and experiencing a catharsis of your own as you read about these honorable, loveable, but quite imperfect characters who still manage to fumble toward ecstasy in the arms of their perfect mates.

The stories are told in chronological order and build upon past stories, so you'll readers are advised strongly to read the series in order. To help you enter their world and understand many of the main characters in the series (who will return in book after book), the introduction to the series, Masters at Arms, is a free (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, All Romance eBooks, Kobo, iTunes, and other booksellers). Masters is followed by Nobody's Angel (#2), Nobody's Hero (#3), and Nobody's Perfect (#4). At least five more books are planned over the next few years, but no other publication dates have been set.

The Batboy, Terry O'Reilly, JMS Books
Seventeen-year-old Thad Stevens loves baseball -- he’s loved it for as long as he can remember. Thad’s dream of becoming a batboy comes true when he’s chosen to be on the squad for the Buzzards, a local, semi-pro baseball team.
His duties put him in constant contact with his idol, shortstop Iggy Hernandez. Thad struggles with his growing attraction to the handsome ball player.
One day Thad accidentally discovers Iggy has a secret life. What will Thad do with this new information, and what implications does it have for the young batboy and his relationship with the man he admires?

I loved this book! I love sports and baseball is right up there at the top of my favorites, so it wasn’t hard to read. I could easily relate to Thad’s holier than thou parents and his need to hang with Iggy. I also loved how Mr O’Reilly walked a tightrope and didn’t make Iggy into a dirty old man. Pick this book up and give it a go! Doesn’t hurt that the cover art is HAWT!

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries This book was given to us by JMS Books. Many thanks.

Fiona's Forest Find Friday

Yeah for Friday! I hope everyone had fun on the blog this week. There was so much to share and a ton of prizes to win. Who doesn’t like free stuff? Speaking of free stuff I have to share this quick story from last night. We all know that authors love to give out bookmarks the hotter the better. My daughter came to me last night and said “Mom I need a bookmark”. I said “Sure I have tons of them”. So we proceed to dump my bookmark basket and she has this horrified look on her face. She picks one up and says “I can’t take that to school!” I look down at the huge pile and realize she’s right these book marks are rated R! LOL! So we dig a little deeper to the ones that she and her brother made me and she chooses one of those still not what she wanted but not one that I will have to explain to the school at a later date! This book that Evernight shared with me did not need a book mark. I read the whole thing in one sitting! This had read on your lunch break written all over it.

Pretty Little Thing by Jenika Snow

Fiona isn’t alone in the woods.

When an unseen predator stalks her during one of her field expeditions, Fiona’s only hope is that a man named Landon, one that lives isolated high in the mountains and keeps to himself, will help her.

It isn’t until she is alone with Landon, safe for the time being in his cabin, that she realizes she has an undeniable sexual attraction to him. As she lets her inhibitions go and gives herself to him, she learns there is something deadly wrong with him, something that she has only read about in fables.

Has she just walked into her stalker's arms, or is she running from the only man who could save her life?

Like I said in the beginning you have to grab this for a quick fix on your lunch break. Things move fast and there is room for more details but I’m not gonna complain. I love getting my hands on these kind of books. If I’m have a rough day and want to unwind and read but I’m too tired or I want to recharge on my lunch break these are what I turn to and this is my favorite one so far. I see me re-reading this one and sharing it with my co workers.

I give this story 3 chocolate dipped strawberries and some “clean” bookmarks for my children!

PEACE
