Ride - Thrash - REV... 3-#REVIEWS-in-1 @JC_Emery

NOW AVAILABLE!
Rev BOOK THREE
With the looming threat from the Mancuso Crime Family, the Forsaken Motorcycle Club is preparing for a war that could destroy them. Grady, the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms, knows that love makes you weak, and he has zero interest in adding to his liabilities– especially now. He’s already got his teenage daughter who keeps him on his toes and a beef within the club that could fracture his relationship with a fellow brother for good.

For Holly Mercer, her life is finally getting on track and the last thing she wants is trouble from her hometown’s resident outlaws. Keeping her nose clean is easier said than done, when suddenly she finds herself embroiled in club business. Holly might like the idea of being with a real-life bad boy, but even being in the same room with tough-as-nails Grady flusters her.

When Holly inadvertently finds herself on Mancuso’s radar, she has two choices: trust that Grady will protect her, or continue to refuse the club’s help. Both roads are dangerous, but only one has the chance to damage her beyond repair.

Love is never more dangerous than when it can destroy you.

REVIEW
Emery brings in an outsider to Rev. Holly knows virtually nothing about the MC lifestyle and comes with her own baggage, but none of this makes her any less perfect for Grady. Their story made me smile. Bringing in Grady's daughter and his life as a dad really connected me to him as more than just a biker. Still, that mafia trouble looms in the background and I can't help wondering when all hell is going to break loose and exactly which characters we might lose. There were hints -foreshadowing- of things to come and as much as it's driving me crazy, I admit to the author being quite smart as well as an evil mastermind.

This series will hook you. I'm a full fledged fan of the Bayonet Scars novels.

Thrash BOOK TWO
Loneliness suffocates the heart. Acceptance breaks down walls.

As a Lost Girl to the Forsaken Motorcycle Club, Nicole Whelan knows how to party. She’s not cut-out for relationships and her life is way too complicated for anything more than casual encounters. But one night when she falls into Duke’s bed at the clubhouse, he sees something in her that he can’t let go of—no matter how many times she tries to run.

Having been left to raise her teenage brother, Jeremy, she’s already got her hands full and isn’t looking for anymore complications. But Duke’s just watched his best friend fall for the only girl he couldn’t have, and then almost lose her so shortly after, shaking him to his core. Faced with his own loneliness, he’s more determined than ever to break down Nic’s walls and show her that he can be good for her; but he’s got a bad track record and she’s got a bad temper. Changing his ways isn’t easy when he’s not sure what he’s even changing for.

The violence and turmoil are at an all-time high, and Forsaken is in a vulnerable place when a twist of fate breathes new life into the club. It’s a much-needed beacon of hope for the embattled biker family, even if everyone’s not exactly on board. With Duke and Nic’s relationship already on shaky ground, and something even more important at stake, the Forsaken Motorcycle Club will fight like hell to keep their family together and whole.

Love is never more precious than when it’s new.

REVIEW
Thrash steps the series up a notch. Now focused on a new club member and his love story, the overall suspense plot is woven throughout. In this book, readers see how the mafia involvement is impacting the entire club. At the same time, Emery has brought in the human-side of her bikers which has allowed me to feel more connected.

I'm intrigued to see just where this series is going... with so many questions, I'm just twiddling my fingers until I can get my hands on book three.

Ride BOOK ONE
Death comes in Armani. Salvation comes in leather.

Principessa to the Mancuso crime family, Alexandra knows a thing or two about living outside the bounds of the law. Suffocated by the future her father has laid out for her, she makes a choice she can't take back, changing the entire trajectory of her life.

Thrust into the dark and dangerous world of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club for her own protection, Alex finds herself faced with the last thing she needs right now: the man of her dreams. He’s sex in leather, the devil incarnate, and one hell of a kisser. But he’s also off-limits. Ryan Stone can be her friend, but he’s forbidden to be her lover.

Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. That is, until who he wants more than anything isn’t allowed on the back of his bike —or in his bed. Balancing his desire for her body, and need to keep her safe, Ryan tries to keep Alex at a distance. Finally having made a choice for herself, she’s done hearing the word “no” and will push boundaries even Ryan himself doesn’t dare cross.

Love is never more tempting than when it’s forbidden.

REVIEW
Ride starts the Bayonet Scars series out strong as an introduction into a world that has crazy potential as a new MC series. Between the mafia and the MC, I knew this was going to be intense. Intense, it was. Also gritty and suspenseful and oddly romantic. There's just nothing better than watching a strong man fall in love.

The unique premise of the world Emery created grabbed my attention. And overall, Ride is a good read though I had to work at connecting with the characters. I expect bikers to be rough but there has to be a redeeming core to them as well. Perhaps we see that side of them in future books. I'm anticipating the next books because the plot felt disjointed and I wonder if I'm just not quite feeling the overall story arc. And despite feeling like the ending left me unsatisfied, I also wonder if that's because I need to just keep reading.

Overall, Ride was a solid beginning to the series that has so much potential. Now, I'm off to read the next book… I have to know where the story goes next.

Fun Reads Friday

Saving Raphael Santiago by Cassandra Clare

A Manhattan teen—Raphael Santiago—is missing, and Magnus Bane must track him down before it’s too late.

In 1950s New York City, a distraught mother hires Magnus Bane to find her missing son, Raphael. But even if he can be found, is Raphael beyond saving?

As I head into the some stretch of this series I think it may become darker than the first couple. Which by no means is a bad thing. We're starting to see how somethings came to be and how they molded the Mortal Instruments series. On a light note Magnus gives us career advice....choose a profession that allows you to dress fashionable and using magic on your hair is never a waste.
I give this book 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and a salon visit. Not all of us can magic a good hair day.

The Fall of Hotel Dumort by Cassandra Clare
Magnus Bane watches the once-glamorous Hotel Dumort become something else altogether in 1970s New York City.

Fifty years after the Jazz Age rise of the Hotel Dumort, immortal warlock Magnus Bane knows the Manhattan landmark is on the decline. The once-beautiful Hotel Dumort has fallen into a decayed thing, a ruin, as dead as a place can be. But the vampires don't mind...

As I stated in my previous blog the series is getting darker. We see the ugly side of Magnus's beloved Camille. Actually ugly is putting it mildly.

I give this book 5 chocolate dipped strawberries.

#REVIEW On The Way Home @skye_warren #RELEASETOUR @RockStarPRLC

Onthewayhomebanner

Clint For eight months I’ve been deep under cover as a special operator in the Army. On the plane ride home, all I want is a hot shower and a long sleep. But a Dear John text message leaves me stranded. I need a ride and a place to stay, and the pretty stewardess is more than willing.

Della It’s supposed to be a simple trade—the passenger in seat 34B for my sister. But the sexy soldier is more than I can handle in all the best ways. He trusts me, but I can’t save him. No one can. Sometimes trouble has a way of following you home. On the Way Home is a dark new adult romance intended for readers over eighteen.
On the Way HomeExcerpt
The pretty stewardess walked by, her hip brushing my shoulder.

“I’m sorry,” she murmured.

Della, her name tag read. She was slender and careful, but that didn’t matter when I was taking up half the aisle with my shoulder.

“My fault,” I managed to say. It came out more like a rumble.

The lightest whisper of cloth, her blue uniform against my fatigues. A wisp of heat and a faint smell of peaches. It was too much. As if I were goddamned Sleeping Beauty, my dick woke the hell up.

She smiled then, and it was way too late to pretend I wasn’t getting hot at the sight of her.

Jesus, those lips. And the little upturned smile, the one that said she knew exactly what I was thinking.

Well, maybe not exactly. No way were her thoughts as desperate as mine. Eight months away from the States had taken its toll, with not even enough time or energy to beat off with regularity.

No privacy, either, but then we didn’t care about that. You couldn’t be fastidious in a godforsaken jungle. They send a bunch of eighteen-year-old testosterone junkies into the wild, what else is gonna happen? There’d been a time we’d all go into a firefight, walk out with no bullet holes, then head back to our bunks and jack off like we were synchronized swimming.

Not this time, though.

After our first two tours in Afghanistan, James and I got picked up to work as part of a joint task force. Guess we impressed somebody. We couldn’t even drink back then—at least, not legally—but we were handed some of the most lethal weapons and secretive recording equipment in use.

Since then we had continued to fight, but not on any sanctioned battlefield. Our ops were secretive and lethal and mostly not even acknowledged by the US government. We lived and worked in the darkest parts of the world, then came home on leave so we could remember why we did it.

My twenty-third birthday had come and gone, spent with some of the most disgusting human beings I’d ever met and had to pretend like I was their new best friend. I shuddered just remembering some of the things I’d witnessed, unable to do anything without blowing my cover. I’d seen some bad shit in my life, but nothing compared to those sights. When I closed my eyes, I could still see those young girls. Way too young. I wanted to wash myself off just for being around that, even if we had taken it down in the end.

Mission accomplished. Go home.

So it was a real fucking surprise when my body was suddenly interested in the sweet-smelling, hot-as-hell stewardess.

“Can I get you something?” she asked. “Water? A soda?”

Suddenly my mouth was dry. “No, thanks.”

She smiled again. God, she really needed to stop that. “I think I can rustle up some pretzels if you ask nicely?”

Nope, wasn’t doing that.

“I could use some pretzels,” James said from beside me.

Really? “Nah, we’re good. Don’t worry about us.”

“All right. You boys let me know.” She sauntered off, leaving both James and I staring. Man, that skirt hugged her so nicely…

“What the hell was that for?” James said. “She would’ve come back.”

“And then what, asshole? You’ve got Rachel.”

“And you’ve got… what’s her name? Chelsea.”

“Yeah,” I lied. I’d been lying for a few months now, ever since I’d landed at the base in Germany where I could check my messages. Dear Clint, I’m sorry to tell you like this but… A Dear John text message. A remote control breakup. It had happened to enough of our friends that I knew what the reaction would be if I told people. Pity, from the guys who could still look at me. Avoidance from everyone else, as if the condition of being dumped was contagious.

So I hadn’t told anyone, not even James. And hell, maybe it wouldn’t be that bad. Me and Chels had a good thing going. Maybe not good, but it wasn’t bad either. And separation was always hard. For all I knew, we’d patch things up right away and then I’d be glad I never told James, who would’ve given her a hard time after that.

She was probably going to pick me up at the airport, just like we’d planned, and here I was checking out another woman. The eight months had done a number on both of us, that was all. We’d work it out.

I glanced down the aisle at the stewardess—Della—who had bent to speak to another passenger. “The point is, she’s doing her job. She doesn’t need us bothering her.”

“Hey, you were the one groping her.”

“With my shoulder?”

“And flirting,” James added.

“I was not flirting.” I would have known if I’d been flirting, right? And I definitely hadn’t done that. She was working. The last thing she needed was two horndogs using up her time or ogling her. “And stop looking.”

“That’s your argument? There’s nothing wrong with looking, man. It’s harmless. You think when our girls are back home, they don’t look?”

I did not like where this conversation was going. One of the main reasons to send a Dear John letter, as opposed to waiting until I got back, was for another guy. It pinched something in my chest to imagine Chelsea moving on that quick. I turned my irritation on my best friend. “Do you actually hear yourself talk?”

“I stand by my assertion. I don’t care if Rachel checks out some hot doctor at her hospital. Long as she saves up the horniness for when I get back.”

“Yeah, okay. You write that on your anniversary card.”

“Shit, it’s my anniversary?”

“Hell if I know.”

We were quiet a moment. James was probably working out the dates in his head, trying to figure out if he needed to pick up a present from the airport gift shop. Me? I pretended to be asleep. Shut my eyes, even when the stewardess came back this way. But I could still see her long legs and black heels, and I had to admit: I was peeking. I couldn’t help it. There was something about her… the way she moved… so alluring…

“She walks like a stripper,” James muttered when she’d passed us by.

My eyes snapped open. “I am seriously going to punch you in the face right now.”

“What? I didn’t mean it in a bad way. It’s a good walk. A good, professional walk.”

“Your nose will be broken, and then you’ll have to explain to Rachel why it’s broken.”

“Okay, I’ll stop. But only because Rachel would freak out. She worries about me.”

Review
On The Way Home was a sexy, dusky-dark read with suspenseful elements. Told through both Della and Clint's POV's, readers uncover secrets slowly revealed. He has obvious secrets since he's just returning from an undercover operation for the US government. She, on the other hand, has dark secrets readers will find trickier to detect. These secrets force her to interact with him. Despite both feeling an attraction, there are other forces at work which is what makes this book so damn interesting.

This story has the intrigue to make it exciting, the emotionally-rich characters to engage readers and the quick-paced story line to move it forward. While all this deception seems to underlie most of what happens, the author is sure to make it all clear as necessary so readers aren't left confused.

And it would be so very wrong of me if I failed to mention the steamy sex scenes. What a change of pace!
Role reversal! Della was the dominant partner and Clint was all about letting her lead. It's completely unexpected to have an alpha male who can pull off taking a more submissive role in the bedroom... or wherever else they may be. And even the sex scenes had a purpose since this is where readers see Della's conflict with her secrets and her feelings for Clint.

Skye Warren has created a unique romantic suspense that edges on the dark side but is safe for lighter readers as well. With a good balance of sexual heat and story, this book delivers.

Synopsis
Years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen sitting in the desk behind me in my high school English class.

This was back in 1990, and I cite the year only to avoid dumbfounding you when references to big hair or stretch pants are mentioned. Although, come to think of it, I am from New Jersey, which may serve as explanation enough. We were teenagers then, way back in a time before anyone could even dream he’d turn into the Hollywood commodity that he is today.

In case you live under a rock and don't know who Trip Wiley is, just know that these days, he’s the actor found at the top of every casting director’s wish list. He’s incredibly talented and insanely gorgeous, the combination of which has made him very rich, very famous and very desirable.

And not just to casting directors, either.

I can’t confirm any of the gossip from his early years out in Tinseltown, but based on what I knew of his life before he was famous, I can tell you that the idea of Girls-Throwing-Themselves-At-Trip is not a new concept.

I should know. I was one of them.

And my life hasn’t been the same since.

Remember When REVIEW
Remember When is the first book in a trilogy that I recommend reading sequentially and directly after one another because they set the stage. In fact, book one reads much like a prequel with no clear direction except to give background for the coming love story. I enjoyed the book with its engaging and realistic teenager characters. The narrator nailed the subtle New Jersey accents without overdoing it. Her voice was complimentary to the younger age of the characters and was nice to listen to. Once coming to the end, I was immediately ready to move on to book 2 which is also available on audiobook.

Remember When Two REVIEW
The second book in the series takes off, moving quickly where the first moved slowly. Now adults and ten years later, the two main characters come together once again. The same magic is there and the narrator again nails the story-telling. There's a charming quality that radiates out from her voice and makes it possible to listen continuously without needing to take a break. This is a quick read, mostly because readers will want to know what happens for the couple. The depth the author provided through book 1 added depth to the characters so that they now feel very familiar. Readers will cheer them on. Then it ends with a cliffhanger so be ready to grab book 3.

The Back-Up Plan

Just how legally binding is a promise made on a cocktail napkin?

Second Chances, Book 4

Kristen Grey has always been married to her work, but as her fortieth birthday looms, she begins to wonder if that’s all there is to life. When her friend Zoey suggests she come up with a goal for a second chance at happiness, the first idea to pop into Kristen’s mind falls out of her mouth—to find a husband.

One night, after a few too many shots of vodka, it falls out of her mouth again, in front of the last man she wants to hear it. Her annoying, cocky law partner, Jason Mitchell. She’s shocked when he vows to help in her quest to find a man.

After all, he has a vested interest in her success. Years ago, they foolishly made a pact that if they hadn’t found “the one” by age forty, they’d marry each other. Time is running out.

Problem is, as Jason and Kristen try to help each other find love, it becomes more and more apparent that maybe the back-up plan isn’t such a bad option after all.

Warning: The heroine in this story has no objection to how her law partner likes to recess. Legal eagle? Nope. Spread eagle.

REVIEW:

If you haven't been introduced to the Second Chances series, RUN, don't walk to snag a copy.  Mari Carr writes the kind of romance the average woman wishes for.  Real women, strong women, women who need their female friends and have jobs and lives.  And real men, who screw up, who think with the little head sometimes, who know how to make amends.  Add in the best friends anyone could ask for and you have the makings of a very good, very real contemporary romance.

Kristen and Jason have known each other for years.  Founding their law firm after being best friends through law school, they make an unusual pair.  Approaching forty together, their pact made one drunken night long ago to marry each other if they are still single at that age, Kristen finds herself pushing to meet her goal of finding her future husband.  Jason has chased skirts his whole life and finds his past is cramping his future's style.  Who knew the perfect girl was right by his side all along?  Who knew the straight laced legal ace was an undercover dirty girl?  Who cares as long as they finally figure it out, right?

I just adore coming back to Ms. Carr's townhouse complex of really awesome women and their second chances at love, happiness and new beginnings.  The perfect read for a spring day, The Backup Plan will curl your toes and warm your heart.  Don't miss your chance to revel in Second Chances!

NetGalley #REVIEW: Rocked @CariQuinn @TarynElliottFic

Rocked (Lost in Oblivion #1)
by Taryn Elliott & Cari Quinn
Book 1 in the NA Rock Star series, Lost in Oblivion

Love definitely wasn't on the setlist.
Opening for their idols on their first tour, Oblivion is living the dream. Mostly. Frustrated at being shoved out of his mediator role by their new manager, Deacon McCoy loses himself in brutal workouts. He only comes up for air long enough to refuel—and to tease the deliciously cute chef who makes him crave a lot more than what she's offering on her serving plate.

As the child of roadie parents, Harper Pruitt has heard every pickup line twice. To her, musicians are one step above the scraps on her cutting board. All she wants is to get enough experience to run her own catering company, but Deacon and his bottomless stomach are too tempting to resist. He's far from the typical rock star and before long, she finds herself experimenting with him, inside and out of the kitchen.

Apron - and panties - optional.

When Harper sees that Deacon’s dream band with his best friends may be turning into a nightmare, she can't walk away. Deacon's so much more than just a peacemaker and the man behind the bass. But she has her own dreams to chase...even if she's starting to think what she's building with him might be the biggest one of all.

REVIEW
There was so much to like about Rocked... the characters were well-developed, the dialogue was strong, the story line was full and interesting, and the couple together were charming. Despite all their resistance, their chemistry -both in bed and out- was irresistible.

The one challenge for me was the tempo of the book. The story felt slow, and while the details were nice, perhaps there were too many at times.

Rocked stands apart from other rock star romances. The hero has already gone through the misogynistic phase of a rock star and is looking for more in this book. The heroine, however, is the more jaded one since she grew up as a daughter of roadies. She thinks she knows what musicians are all about until Deacon changes everything Harper believes is the truth. It was a beautiful romance.

**I didn't read the prequel but I plan to go back and read it, as well as moving along and catching the next book in the series as soon as its available.**

Excerpt
“In your eyes I see exactly what I want. You’re not here with me because of my money or because of what I do. You actually see the people you’re around and the goodness inside of them. That is what gives me hope.”
“Hope for what?” I asked breathlessly, mesmerized.
He brushed my hair away from my face and smoothed his thumb along my jaw. “Hope that one day you will see in my eyes what I see in yours. There’s a craving deep inside of you that I can see each time I touch you. It burns brighter every single time. I’ve never seen that with anyone, and that is how I know I have a chance.”

Excerpt/Teaser

Preach “Can you do me a favor, brother?” Timber lifts his chin. “What’cha need?” Lifting a nearly empty bottle of beer, Maker motions for the prospect to bring him another. “I was supposed to pick up Little Flower, but I’m too drunk to have her on my bike. Can you run down to the diner and take her home?” “If you knew you had to pick up your daughter, why the hell have you been drinking?” He shrugs. “I didn’t mean to get drunk, but it just happened.” “If you for once put the beer down, it wouldn’t just happen,” Timber mumbles under his breath before looking toward me. “You wanna take a ride?” Nodding, I stand up and follow him outside. “I didn’t know Maker had a kid.” “He’s got a daughter, and she’s probably the prettiest little thing you’ve ever seen. His bitch of a wife keeps her away from the club, so she’s not around much. ” “Lula’s always here. Why doesn’t she let the girl come around?” He slides onto his bike before answering me. “Lula likes to be the center of attention. When her daughter’s around, she’s nothing but a shadow.” I climb onto my bike, wondering what is so special about this kid.

REVIEW

Yummy! Another Renegade! These men are so hot, their stories are combustible. Thank goodness they fall for strong women because that's all that could handle them. Keeping with that authentic feel of an MC, this second book in the series doesn't glam anything up. The story is gritty with no time for hearts and flowers. There's nothing overly sweet about Preach, or the life he lived, until we glimpse the rare tender moments he has with Daisy. Readers will know right from the start that they're meant for each other but the fun is in watching them get there.

These authors weave together the grit and the romance to create a uniquely indulgent love story.

Stand to Attention Anthology @Totally_Bound #REVIEW #HAHAT

Stand to Attention, by Sean Michael, Jambrea Jo Jones, Lily Harlem, Elizabeth Coldwell, Noelle Keaton, Lucy Felthouse, Totally Bound
‘Almost' by Sean Michael
Lane lost his legs while saving his unit overseas. It’s been two years and he’s doing his best to come to terms with things, including the fact that he dumped his lover to free the man up from being stuck with a gimp for the rest of his life. Luckily, Lane inherited his Gramps’ cottage — it just needs some renovations to make it wheelchair friendly. He’s determined to make the best of what he’s got.

Hammer was one of the men Lane saved… and his lover while they were in the army together. He let Lane drive him away back when the man first got hurt, but now he’s hunting Lane, determined to make Lane the one who almost got away. Will Lane be able to see past his legs far enough to realise Hammer’s in it for the long haul?

Review:
"You're my Laney. And I'm fucking taking you back." That was the moment when I became fully invested in this story and these two men. Fabulous story about a second chance and dealing with the realities of life when things break bad. Hammer walked away from Lane once but he isn't taking no for an answer this time. A stubborn soldier is exactly what Lane needs in his life. Heartwarming and emotional. I loved it.

‘On the Home Front' by Jambrea Jo Jones
Peter "Bulldog" Jakes killed his mother. People tell him it isn't his fault, but he is just as guilty as if he pulled the trigger. Bulldog knew being in the Army Special Forces would eventually hurt his family.

Moby Edwards' heart aches for his First Sergeant and he wants to help, but Bulldog blows him off — every time.

When Bulldog is forced to take leave, Moby follows, but will things out of their control ruin what could be the healing power of friends turned into lovers?

Review:
Bulldog's life just imploded. He has just been informed that his mother was murdered and he has to go home and see to his niece Annabeth. When he arrives he finds that his brother and sister-in-law have been killed as well and while the cops think they are just random, Bulldog doesn't believe in coincidence. Thankfully he has the help of his teammate Moby.

Moby just wants to be there for the man that owns his heart. He has been attracted to Bulldog from the beginning but never acted upon his feeling until now. there is no way he will let the man deal with the death of his family by himself.

When bulldog finally lets himself act upon his feelings will he win everything or lose it all?

Great story with a fabulous epilogue.

‘Who Dares Wins' by Lily Harlem
Waiting for my SAS husband Jack to come home safe and sound is always a gut-wrenching, heart-twisting time. I have no idea where he is, what jungle swamp he may be lying out in or desert he might be marching across.

So naturally when he returns to me, our emotions can't fail to run hot and our lust for each other cranks up to sky-high levels. But the one thing about Jack is he lives for the extreme and seizes the moment. I really should have known what would come of me telling him my wildest fantasies.

Review:
Hot, Hot Hot. Ken's fantasies come true when his Master and partner of eight years brings home a fellow soldier for a little homecoming fun.

I don't know if there is a book about how Jack and Ken meet and fall in love but I for one would LOVE to read it. Great chemistry between the three men and I am thinking a holiday reunion story would be smokin.

‘An Act of Duty' by Elizabeth Coldwell

For Corporal Mark Stockdale, a trip to Amsterdam won’t just provide some much-needed R and R away from the horrors of the Afghanistan battlefield — it’s also a way of keeping a promise to a fallen comrade. Robin shows his gratitude, and Mark is stunned by the depth of the passion between them, and when Mark wakes in the night from a vivid nightmare of the attack that killed his best friend, Ozzy, Robin is there to comfort him.

Review:
On a trip to Amsterdam on leave Mark steps in and helps a bartender who  is being robbed. Violence seems to follow Mark and the memories and feelings of losing his best friend coming rushing back to the surface. Thankfully Robin knows just how to soothe Mark. After a weekend of friendship and one hot night of role-playing Mark has to return to duty will they bond the two men developed be strong enough to sustain them while they are apart?

Nice story that you can tell either the is either from Amsterdam or has done some research.

‘Trusting the Army Captain' by Noelle Keaton
Ambitious army captain, Patrick Bosworth, is eager to advance in his career so that he can live up to his family’s distinguished legacy. But having been passed over for promotion to major twice already, Patrick fears his career has stalled.

When a superior office suggests a way to get the promotion that involves gathering information on a fellow army captain in the Medical Corps, Patrick reluctantly agrees to participate. He regrets the assignment almost immediately, especially when he falls for Craig, the guy he’s supposed to be investigating.

When he forms a passionate and intense bond with Craig, Patrick finds it difficult to separate where his professional obligations end and his personal feelings begin. After working for so long to prove himself a worthy member of his accomplished military family, Patrick has to decide if finally finding the love of his life is worth sacrificing advancement in the army, or even giving up his career itself.

Review:
Trying to live up to the family name almost cost Patrick the most important thing. His relationship with Craig started on a lie but the feelings that grew from that first night were very real. Once Craig learns the truth can they ever really get past it?

I really enjoyed this story and would have liked for it to have been longer. This is the first book by this author for me but I will be checking out more.

'Letters to a War Zone' by Lucy Felthouse

When lonely insurance broker, Bailey, gets himself a new hobby, he ends up exchanging letters with a war zone. But he’s not expecting what happens next...

Bailey Hodgkiss is lonely and dissatisfied with his boring life as an insurance broker. In an attempt to shake things up a little, he signs up to a website to write to serving soldiers. He’s put in touch with Corporal Nick Rock, and over the course of a couple of letters, the two of them strike up a friendship. They begin to divulge things that they perhaps wouldn’t have said in person, including their preference for men.

Nick encourages Bailey to add more interests to his life. As a result, Bailey picks up his forgotten hobby, photography, and quickly decides to team it up with his other preferred interest, travel.

Booking a holiday to Rome is his biggest gesture towards a more exciting existence, and he eagerly looks forward to the trip. That is, until Nick says he’s coming home on leave, and it looks as though their respective trips will prevent them from meeting in person. Is there enough of a spark between them to push them to meet, or will their relationship remain on paper only?

Review:
Bored and kind of lonely Bailey decides to join a site that matches up soldiers with civilians. After penning his first letter Bailey isn't expecting much but is pleasantly surprised by the reply he gets from Nick. After a few months and a few letters of encouragement from Nick, Bailey has booked his first vacation in forever...the only problem is that Nick will be coming home then and Bailey hates the thought of missing seeing then man that jumped started his life again.

Quick, heartwarming read about the connection people can make through letters.

If Wishes Were Horses by @Silvia_Violet #REVIEW #HAHAT #ULTIMATEINDULGENCE

If Wishes Were Horses, Silvia Violet, Silvia Violet Books
Kenneth Carver had everything growing up except warmth and acceptance. When protecting his family’s name became more than he could bear, he came out as gay, sold his company, and bought a horse ranch.

Andrew Wofford's last undercover assignment nearly cost him his sanity. Now he has another chance of catching the drug runner who killed one of his informants and then escaped, but gruesome flashbacks threaten his ability to function in the field.

Andy’s latest investigation sends him to Ken’s ranch where he poses as a ranch hand. Ken is a prime suspect, but Andy refuses to believe Ken is guilty, in part because Andy is falling for him. Ken knows Andy isn’t who he seems, but he can’t bring himself to push the man away. When Ken hears rumors that someone is using his land to move drugs out of the city, he worries that it’s Andy. Neither man can trust the other even though that’s exactly what their hearts tell them to do.

REVIEW:
WOW....I had to put my Nook down a couple of times and step away because I was afraid it was going to burst into flames! The chemistry between Ken and Andy is off the charts combustible! The want and the need that these two men have for each other pulsates from the pages.

Ken has a hard time trusting. When you have been burned by your family, the people that you should be able to trust wholly, it makes it almost impossible to let down your guard. But there is something about Andy that calls to him and makes him want to take a chance.

Andy has been working undercover for to long. His last assignment broke bad and he still hasn't gotten over it. Dealing with PTSD and an almost suicidal attitude is not a healthy way to start an new job but he is determined to catch the man that eluded him before. He wants the job done but walking away from Ken may break him quicker than the job ever could.

Silvia Violet brings theses two broken men together and then makes them get real. Their feelings are hard and at times violent but they both give each other exactly what they didn't know they needed.

If you are looking for light and funny and sweet...this is not the book for you but if you want something real and gritty and visceral then yeah you are going to want to grab this one! The characters are fully dimensional and the story is fast paced and well written. This one is a keeper!

BUTT NINJAS FROM HELL #HAHAT #REVIEW #BLOG HOP #WILDE CITY

Porn stars, holy emissaries, demons, and even just plain humans—ninjas come in all forms and from all kinds of Hell in this erotically charged comedic Wilde City anthology! Whether it’s the world of second-rate television, fluttering ninja stars, obsessions over a bronzy-olive toned soldier, or magic backsides, your authorial guides will take you where few readers have ever dared to go…without protection.

You’ll Never Hear Them Coming!

BUTT NINJAS FROM HELL, anthology by authors: Kage Alan, JP Barnaby, Ally Blue, TC Blue, Shae Connor, Jevocas Green, Kiernan Kelly and Eden Winters

1. Clean Up On Aisle Me by Shae Connor

Jonny works as a sales associate in a Halloween store when he sees a ninja appear and disappear, repeatedly. Like a wacky Men in Black tale, complete with hell gates and ninjas trying to stop demons from wreaking havoc, uber geek survives to fight another day

2. Sheathing His Sword by JP Barnaby

Ninja porn. Enough said. Seriously funny, porn versus parental antics. JP Barnaby manages to mix reality and hilarity in this novella.

3. Twink Ninja Tiger, Flaxen Buns Of Fury by Kage Alan

High on a mountain top, ninjas go to train....and make the reader crack up the entire time. At times to0 subtle or complex to completely understand, still too full of snark and humor to not appreciate over all. (seriously, who can't giggle over the author's cleverly created Aligned Ninja Agreement List of Relevant Operating Directives aka A.N.A.L.R.O.D. - now that's just funny!)

4. Twerk It by Ally Blue

I always knew Satan was a woman! Hell hath no fury and all that....Hugo is a demon hunter, tasked with eliminating a demon called L'Loushe. Hell Kitty manages to provide sex-eriously distraction. As with other novellas in this anthology, the humor and writing are well done but this story ran hoo-boy hot!

5. Hell Is Where The Heart Is by Eden Winters

Oh what a tangled web we weave....What's a sixth level demon and son of The Queen to do when he's forced to marry and have little demons of his own? He drowns his sorrows in his lower level demon, slacks off and plays video games... Filled with more humor and hot demon sex, who doesn't love an HEA in Hell?

6. Ninja, Vanish by Kiernan Kelly

Power Rangers meets Faust....sort of. A little campy, a little corny but still entertaining - who wouldn't appreciate a naked man showing up with a special contract? Probably someone who wants to use his powers for good, rather than evil!

7. The Soldier And The Vagabond by Jevocas Green

Homeless boy meets Ninja who saves him twice. Falls for Ninja and becomes his. Spanky goodness for those who partake and very well written, just a bit rushed from start to finish.

8. A Ninja Walks Into A Bar by T.C. Blue

Party boy meets Demon. Sexy and well crafted with seriously butt kicking characters and hard driving dialogue that brings wit and humor across to keep the reader turning each page for more.

Overall, this anthology is everything I've come to expect from Wilde City books - their authors are highly talented, seriously snarky and deliver on smexy M/M delights. Read it for the stories or just the anthology title - you won't be disappointed.

Emergency Servicing #HAHAT #REVIEW #GIVEAWAY @Totally_Bound

Emergency Servicing

Eleanor Bruce, Elizabeth Coldwell, H.L. Holston, Noelle Keaton, A.J. Llewellyn, Serena Yates, Sara York

'Down to Earth' by Elizabeth Coldwell

When Ryan's life comes crashing down, can the hottest nurse he's ever met help put it back together again?

It started out the happiest day of Ryan Johnson's life. At breakfast, his long-time boyfriend Craig accepted his proposal that they enter a civil partnership, and in the afternoon he's making a parachute jump—a surprise organised by his new fiancé. But when his chute fails to open, experienced skydiver Ryan finds himself in the hospital, in traction and not going anywhere for a while…and everything starts to fall apart.

High-maintenance Craig doesn't seem to want to be there for him anymore, but down-to-earth Luke—the hottest male nurse Ryan has ever seen—is determined to help him make a full recovery…and maybe even win his heart in the process…

'Please, Doctor' by Serena Yates

Patrick McNeill is obsessed with doctors. A serious-looking man in a white coat gets him hot enough to do…anything to please the physician.

Doctor Russell Walters is a successful emergency physician at the Royal Winkham Hospital during the day…and an occasional expert for a medical fetish club at night. He's only doing his best friend and club owner a favour—until he sees Patrick walk into their pretend clinic. The gorgeous brunet who casts shy glances at him inspires Russell to put his best bedside manner forward. Suddenly he is the one who wants to play doctor!

The 'medical examination' that follows is definitely not authentic—but who cares when both participants find more satisfaction in one another's arms than either thought possible…

Reader Advisory: This book may be hazardous to your health! Do not read if allergic to any of the following: unauthorized use of medical equipment, misappropriated procedures, or a significant dose of kinky sex between an extremely hot physician and his very eager patient.

'Roley's Wood' by A.J. Llewellyn

When Dr Jack Hanrahan set out for a much needed vacation, he had no idea his life would forever change on a remote biking trail in Roley's Wood…

Jack Hanrahan is a California surgeon taking a brief cycling vacation with friends in Edinburgh, Scotland. A woman's scream shatters his peaceful ride in the recently cleaned up Roley's Wood.

He and his best friend, Paul, a heart surgeon, race towards the sound. They find a woman lying on the ground, clinging to life, an arrow sticking out of her body. Jack and Paul have no way of knowing that she disappeared weeks ago and has been the subject of a huge manhunt. They try to help her, working on her frantically until they are able to call for help but by the time they reach the hospital, it's too late.

In the confusion, they realise whoever fired at her must have been an onlooker because the arrow Paul took out of the victim is missing. How could they have not noticed the killer sneaking back to remove it?

The case soon lands in the procurator fiscal's hands. Jack has never heard of this but soon finds that the man in question is the very sexy public prosecutor Brodie Shaw, who promptly asks Jack for help in the twisty mystery as they begin to fall in love with each other…

'Love Without Borders' by Sara York

Work brought them to the jungle, lust brought them together. But staying together may prove too difficult a task.

Jason believes the attraction he has for Doctor David Blankenship will never be more than lustful dreams until David shows up at the firehouse, asking Jason to travel to Guatemala with him for a charity trip. Excited that they'll be working together, Jason is ultimately disappointed because their schedules are too hectic for them to even speak to each other.

Then magic happens when David seeks out Jason on the third night in the jungle giving both of them a taste of paradise. With the ice broken, David plans some time alone. But David's ex wants to derail Jason and David's relationship. Insecurities eat away at Jason, leaving their relationship hanging in the balance.

Yet when he meets hunky paramedic Trent Jones, Kyle cannot deny the immediate attraction and undeniable spark between them. As their love develops, Kyle begins to put the past behind him and focus on his burgeoning relationship with Trent.

Trent, who has been drawn to Kyle ever since he first laid eyes on him, can hardly believe the handsome and sophisticated physician would give him a second glance, much less return his feelings. Coming from a modest background, Trent wonders if he's in the same league as Kyle and if their relationship can go the distance.

When Kyle's former lover surfaces with allegations that cause Trent to question Kyle's true feelings and motivations, it is up to both men to take stock and decide whether theirs is a love worth fighting for, a love worth trusting in…

REVIEW:

I completely forgot I loved Medical themed romance stories until I read this fabulous anthology!  I thought, having worked in a hospital for more than a decade, doctors could have very little draw anymore.  Boy was I wrong!  Totally Bound delivers another amazing anthology filled with sexy doctors and nurses guaranteed to cure whatever ails you.

Consistently well written, each novella delivers novel length quality with captivating characters and fully developed romance story lines.  Be it military, mission, hospital or clinic - in the wilds of the jungle or the woods - these fine fellows know how to provide a hefty dose of sexual healing.  Touches of humor and raw emotion flesh out each tale, drawing the reader in and keeping them up way past bedtime.

I was pleased to reconnect with some favorite authors and find some new ones to love - always an opportunity with an anthology.  Each story left this reader with a sigh and a little wish that there might be more - also a very good sign since the best stories always leave you wanting to know what happens next!
